How often did you BD around your fertile days when you conceived?

Hi There when I fell pregnant it was kind of a spur of the moment decision to try. I had been off the pill for about 6 months to give my body a rest before trying and I'd just purchased a Maybebaby. On the day I suspected it might be my fertile time I got home from work and slapped some saliva on the Maybebaby. It came up with the ferning pattern and I turned to DH and said do "you want to go make a baby". And that evening we made Charli. We did not BD any other time during my fertile days so I know exactly when we conceived.

So now, we want to start trying for a baby this cycle. Not sure whether to BD every day of my fertile time, every second day, just once or several time a day I know that there is such a thing as doing it too much.

Sooooooo, what did you do on the month you conceived???

With my last pg we did it on the Thursday and then the Friday night. Friday was the day I ovulated. With my previous 2 pgs before that we did it a few times over the course of my fertile window and our 1st was a pleasant surprise, so I have no idea what we did then (well I know what we did, but ykwim )

we concieved both time just DTD the night prior to ovulation! we did plan on BD every second day

When we conceived this little one, we DTD about 4 days before ovulation, and then twice (we were feeling randy ) the day before ovulation. I wasn't following my cycle, but could generally work out when I ovulated from CM. I'm not sure which time we conceived... .

#3 we only DTD CD 14 and 15 of 28 day cycle

#1 and #2...no idea.....alot of the time!

Not sure about DS but we weren't particularly trying to fall pregnant so I would say probably once or twice..

Then with DD - DTD on day 9 and day 16 of a 28 day cycle - and going by the rule that girls survive longer - it was day 9's goods that made her!! lol

DD2 - Dtd 5 days before O

Only once both times. When ttc my last angel baby we dtd every second day during my fertile period for 3 months. This month I got a positive OPK and we did in the morning before O and the morning of O...still waiting for the result!!!

Spice = My friend was told by her fertility specialist that they were dtd too much..hows this, everyday from day 7 to day 15 for 18 months straight....They then booked in for IVF, they relaxed and she fell pregnant the next month...they dtd ONCE

with this one we DTD only once without using a condom and it was either the day before or day after ovulation.. dont remember exactly as we were having a break from seriously trying that month as we had a lot of social stuff on and i wanted to enjoy the bubbly!

Hmmm, thanks for your replies girls. Quite a few of you only DTD once or twice so it seems it's best to stick with quality not quantity

Hey BekZ yes I have heard that if you do it too often it lowers the sperm count so can make it harder to conceive.

I have a 30 day cycle and when we conceived Charli it was day 16. (which makes sense because they say you O about 14 days before AF is due - but then again statistically we should have had a boy - but it seems this little girl swimmer outrun the boys somehow, arimeh) I noticed last month though I had EWCM on day 14 and stilll there by day 16 but a little cloudy but it was still a 30 day cycle oh well best we DTD on days 13 & 16 me thinks JIC.

YOu could use OPK's to help you pinpoint O

Yes, I have bought an OPK and Ive got the maybebaby. I think because it happened straight away last time I really want it to again and if it doesn't I'm going to be on a real downer. I know it is silly because it's normal to take a while, but I'm just a wee bit impatient

Spice - I know how you feel. TTC dd1 was easy, we thought about ttc and it happened that month...much to DH's disappointment (he wanted more bding time). I then had a miscarriage when Sara was 6 months old. I did not know I was pregnant until the miscarriage happened. At this point DH and I thought that we were really fertile. We then decided to ttc number 2... it took 3 months. I temped, I observed, we baby danced more than usual, and of course I kept getting BFNs!!! We put in heaps more effort than before. Finally got a BFP (although 3 months is very good for most couples) but we lost that baby at 10wks. By this time I was getting concerned. I had the dandc, 2 wks later I saw some fertile cm and we decided to dtd, and miss Loren was conceived.

Sorry for the rant above, but the ttc journey can be frustrating, I am a great believer that it happens when it is meant to. I wish you all the best with your journey...Remember it is not the destination it is the journey that counts, so enjoy whenever possible

We were TTC for 5 months. First month every second day. Second month every day. Third month we temped and every 2 days around O. Forth month OPK + temping and every second day. Fifth month forgot to temp and saw EWCM so did OPK, suspect I had already O'd and only dtd once. Got a boy.

And yet my FS told us to BD every day a few days before and after O day. How amazing that info differs. The nurse told me quality over quantity since it only takes 1 sperm to fertilise and you want it to be of the highest quality.

This pregnancy ONCE. DTD on a sunday, ovulated on the following Thurs.

#1 - werent really trying. Not much though LOL
#2 - twice
#3 - 3 days before O.

I'm finding it really amazing how many of you were BDing 4-5 days before ovulation. Just goes to show that those lil swimmers sure can hang around for a while

Oh and BekZ, I know what you mean about your Dh being disappointed. Mine was disappointed it happened straight away too, he was hoping ot have to try for at least a few months
