If you listen to what we are 'taught' in IVF 101 at 4dpo the embryo has not become a blastocyst yet. It will not implant and start creating HCG until 7dpo at the earliest. Usually not enough HCG will be produced to register a positive until 8-9dpo (although this is still early). So, technically, your body doesn't 'know' it's pregnant yet because, technically, it's not. Even if fertilization has occurred. That said, post ovulation your hormone levels (estrogen and progesterone) will rise causing side effects. If you are pregnant they will continue to rise and cause symptoms.
