How would you know if you had a chemical pregnancy??
The reason I ask is from my other thread about the First Response HPTs. I do believe that I had a positive HPT at 9 & 11dpo especially because I had a lot of cramping, back pain and extremely sore pains going through my boobs at that time and I never ever have that in my cycles. AF still hasnt shown up making me on CD30 which is really strange cause I always have 25/26 day cycles.
So it makes me wonder if maybe it was a chemical pregnancy cause yesterday, 13dpo I got a BFN.. Is there any way of telling or is it always a mystery? If AF is heavy & clotty would that mean it was a chemical pregnancy???
There really is no way too tell - AF just turns up like normal, sometimes a little later then normal: most people don't even realise it has happened, because they don't test until AF doesn't show.
It would just carry on like normal, you wouldn't really notice at such an early stage as the endometrium would not have thickened any more than a regular cycle at this stage. Implantation ifthey blastocyst would have only just occured at say 9 dpo. But there is really no way to tell. I saw your tests and thought they could have been evap lines, but then I didn't invert them etc like a lot of people did. I'm sorry you're going through this, and it's made harder by just not knowing. Have you been ttc long? Have you recently come off the pill, because that could really affect af symptoms, cycle lengths etc. and I hope you conciee very soon babe.
Also wanted to add that my feelings on this type of situation ate that of you feel you were pregnant and had a loss, feel free to grieve that. Don't let anyone tell you it wasn't real enough or that it doesn't matter, because it does
I know of a few women who have had chemical pregnancies and its suspected I've had one but as they are that much of an early loss theres no real way to tell. I havent seen your tests so i cant say whether I think it was a positive test result or an evap line but I am sorry you are having to go through this and the wondering is what really makes a chemical loss hard
Thanks ladies. I appreciate your thoughts and responses. There really is no way in knowing is there? It had been hard on me not knowing if it actually was anything... AF has arrived now so it's good to be able to get on to the next cycle and I hope the new year brings us luck!
I've only been ttc since November so this will be my 3rd cycle. I was on and off the pill for 2 years. It took 3 cycles to fall with dd so I hope this is our lucky 3rd cycle too!!
the only way to KNOW for sure is to have had a BT to confirm your HCG levels. but really, you don't need to KNOW as was mentioned. the reality is, for a few days, you believed you were pregnant because of that test result, and you have to grieve that. it's human nature to "bond" as soon as you find out you're pregnant, so you need to grieve that. and it doesn't matter if it was confirmed by doctors or not, in your heart there was a life there, and that life deserves to be grieved
FWIW - i've lost several angels very early on. for me, i never get AF related pain, but each time i had a loss, i did. even at 4.5 weeks, it hurt. there was also more clotting and i bled for a different amount of time (heavier for shorter time).
I was going to go in for blood test on Wednesday but cancelled cause I knew I'd lost it if something was there. AF is bad for me today, cramps & heavy and I don't get any cramps with AF and it's always fairly light had brown spotting too and I never get that before it comes..
hugs V - it does sound like you've had a chemical pregnancy. allow yourself to grieve, and perhaps take notice of your cycle next month (it may be longer without meaning you are pg - often after an early loss your cycle is a bit "wonky" for a month or two)
