Its an amazing discovery isn't it! I never really understood it all until I saw the website linked to this thread. A whole new world has opened up to me (literally).
So uh. Ahem. I have no idea where to post this, I figured it'd be suitable here since there's always talk of CM and such.
I noticed some unusual CM when I went to the toilet (whitish and clumpy) so I thought i'd try to touch my cervix to get some more and take a closer look. Well, erm, how low is ones' cervix actually meant to be? And what does it feel like? Gosh, you're all going to get a laugh out of this. I could feel something I haven't felt before, like . . . something roundish and squishy . . . with a hole in it?(Btw that's inside my vagina not, y'know, the vulva or the entrance or anything!) This was just from inserting my index finger so it's not like I was digging around, this was impossible to miss.
Whenever i've had papsmears and such I've found the contact with my cervix to be very uncomfortable but this didn't hurt at all. I could feel it but it wasn't overly sensitive like my pap tests. When I use tampons I find that they simply won't go in as far as they're meant to, I can still feel them in place. Is it possible/likely that I have a low-lying cervix, or that I'm pregnant and that's caused a change in where the cervix is lying? It would explain the CM I suppose.
Sorry again for the time ladies
edit: I also have very mild cramps after doing that now

So that actually WAS my cervix? OMG how did she get the camera up there?!
Maybe I should go to the Dr or something, i've put my finger up there before and never had this experienceI'm worried it's going to fall out or something!
Are you due for AF? cause the cervix moves during the month, and during the day.... And can be lower just before AF is due?
Don't stress. The cervix 'moves' depending where you are in your cycle. sometimes it will sit very low and other times very high, it will also have a different texture depending on whether it is open or closed.
Nope the cervix is a funny thing. It moves and opens and closes... Often, after childbirth, it will have a slightly open feel for some. It can change position during the day. It should open with orgasm to suck the spermies up to the egg.
Generally you should expect high, soft and open at the time of ovulation, and low firm and closed pre and post AF. But as far as a fertility sign it is not the most reliable.
As for the cm.... um *scratches head* not sure on that one... You do get increase cm when pg but whitish and clumpy sounds like pre af cm to me (I think)it has been a while since I have had a cycle so cant really remember...
Can anyone else confirm his for me?????
I don't really remember my CM when I had my last preg! I don't usually get any discharge (wow lovely word eh? lol) particularly around my period which is what caught my attention in the first place. I thought that pre-AF was usually rather dry? It *is* a sort of . . . 'dry' feeling mucous but there's a fair bit of it. What the? Lol. I confuse myself.
edit: I asked DP and he says I sound pregnant? Aparently this is all similar to when I was preg with DD. Also, CM has changed from 'dry' feeling to . . . thin and wet feeling?

Have you done another HPT? JIC?
ooh how exciting, im waiting in anticipation!
I'm going to do a HPT tomorrow. I've got a few preg symptoms but they could be AF symptoms too. I've had hot flushes, headaches, lower back pain, mild cramps, and moodiness. I thought I was gonna get AF days ago cos I was SO emotional and flipping out everywhere. I'm nauseas too actually but I'm sure it's too early for that! It has occured to me that perhaps my last AF wasn't actually AF but preg bleeding like I had with DD. Probably not but, I think it was a bit too heavy for that. Ah, confused!
im sure you can get symptoms from implantation so nausea could be one of them :P
Ok I had another good think, and sometimes before you get AF, you can have that wet CM. It is when the corpus luteum cyst (where the egg came from) breaks down and you get a hormonal release then AF comes...
But.... you do get extra cm in pregnancy... So I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you a bigand

ohhhhh i cant wait to see what happends
best of luck hun, have my fingers crossed for you
If your cervix is low & slightly opened I would expect it's AF & not pregnancy. With pregnancy your cervix will stay high, but with AF it comes down low. The hardness & softness is an individual thing from what I understand, your version of soft & my version might be different IYKWIM.
Your cervix can often sit much lower after you've given birth/had a baby. You might have a slight prolapse which is causing it.
Your description of what it felt like sounds like your cervix. That's probably how I would explain mine feeling too. I always found that my cervix changed position, but not dramatically, throughout my cycle, but since being pregnant my cervix is so high that I can't even feel it no matter how hard I try. I've given up now, lol.
