Another failed IVF and feeling very down. I am 40 and that, along with my high BMI seems to be my biggest issues. I would love to know how many of my fellow BBers have conceived and had a successful pregnancy aged 40+. Naturally or through Assisted Conception, it doesn't matter, I just need something to stop me from feeling like giving up
I was 39 when I conceived my little man, took a year.
Last year my friends both at the age of 43 had little people (one a boy and one a girl), after about a year of trying.
Don't give up,
Hugs,
Don't give up hunni, not just yet, I'm right behind ya! I'm sure there are a lot of women who have fallen preggers after 40. I know one close to home, she's 43, had a child who is 12 now and then she got preggers naturally and just had a baby. THERE IS PLENTY OF HOPE!!!!!!!!
I'm the result of a 40+ conception and I have a little brother too (little brother is almost a foot taller than me but he'll always be my little brother lol).
In my mothers' group when I had DD there was one 40 yr old pg mum-to-be who had successfully conceived through IVF (first baby, DH 50). Another had conceived naturally at 42 after several m/cs (also had a 12 year old DD). Last year, one of my friends had her third DD at 40, also has a 5 and 7 year old.
In our area, having a baby at 40 is common. Me having a baby at 29 was not at all common. At 34 I'm just hitting average.
My mum is 42 nearly 43 and had my little sister in feb 2011. She also had my brother in 07 (38 or 39??) She also fell pg at 40-41 but had an abortion. So 3 pregnancies between 38/9 to 42.
I didn't even think of the Playgroup mums. One of the ladies there went to the dr's cause she couldn't stand this menopause business ROFLwhen the dr told her she was 12 weeks pregnant! She had a 12 yr ds and an 8 yr old dd and had lost twins a few year earlier. It was a lively surprise for the family. She was 42!
Just thought I'd pop in with another success story...
A gf of mine had numerous rounds of IVF to get her DD (now aged 6) and her DS (aged 2). She's just told me that she's 6 wks pg with an oopsie bub conceived without any help! She turned 40 last month.
I read an old magazine article last week about a woman who conceived at 50. She tried AC but it didn't work so she gave up. She thought her period went missing because of menopause but her husband suggested she pee on a stick after she went to a party and felt sick and she got a BFP.
