Unhappy Faint BFP not getting darker at 4wk 1d?

    Hey everyone.

I just wanted some ideas or opinions as I'm getting a little anxious here.

My last pregnancy was twins which i both miscarried and had an ectopic. i lost my right tube as a result. That was in July 2009. I'm now at about 15DPO, hard core pregnancy symptoms since 1DPO (which is normal for me when i'm pregnant), vomiting like crazy, in fact I can't even keep water down!! But my concern is that I have had a ton of very faint BFP's... definate positives, but still faint. And Even though i've left it 3 days to POAS again, the BFP seems to be still just as faint.

My symptoms are so strong, nothing like the ectopic - more like my first 2 pregnancies (one I lost in a car accident, and the 2nd resulted in live birth to my daughter now 3 1/2). But I'm very anxious about the BFP not getting darker... I can't even get an appointment with any doctor at all right now as they all seem to be completely booked out.. although my usual doctor can probably see me at the end of the week.. I think that will be my earliest possible appointment.

So until I can get BTs and an U/S done, can anyone please ease my angst?? Has anyone experienced anything similar?? I guess my concern is that it may be another ectopic, although i haven't had any ectopic pains or drops in blood pressure like last time.

According to my charting, I should be in my 5th week (4wk 1day). So confusing.. I normally show a clear BFP on the actual day of conception!!

    Hi Ciara
Firstly, I am sorry for your losses. Miscarriage is awful thing to go through
I think HPT are quite accurate - a line is a line, positive! If you are worries definately get bloods done. Urine is not the best indicator of HCG. It can also vary depending on your fluid intake. For exmaple, in the past perhaps you didn't drink as much on the day etc. It has been hot so your fluid intake is most likely higher etc. There are many factors. I think it sounds positive - you have other symptoms too. It is so hard when you just need to know! BT will save your sanity - I wish you all the very best!
Also, with DS I never really got a heaps dark HPT. Definately not as strong as control line - quite faint and thin - yet here we have a healthy little boy
    Goodluck hun

Do you have any symptoms? I have also been worried because I got my BFP on many different tests but they arent super dark. They have gotten darker over the past couple of days though. I think different batches of tests and how much liquid you drank ect comes into account. Im not overly worried right now because I have a dull pain in my uterus and boobs are tingling on and off and are sore to touch.

You should see a doctor asap to ease your mind.

Thanks so much for the replies.

Rach, You're right with the weather being hot lately... I guess that could be part of it. And it's very reassuring to know that you also had only faint lines with your Son. Perhaps this pregnancy is a boy??

Msadelaide, thanks for your response also. Yes I've had every symptom under the son!! LOL! I've even named my bucket Mr. Pinky as it seems to go with me everywhere! (TMI, sorry). Good luck with your pregnancy!

I am hoping to get an urgent appointment with my doctor tomorrow, but they're all soo busy at this time of year! GRRR!!

You're welcome hun - I was just going to add that all pregnancies are different. So even if you had quite a high level of HCG detected in past pregnancies doesn't mean this pregnancy will have the same HCG level. Just a though - I bet it will be just fine

You're right Rach, thanks for putting my mind at ease.

I don't feel like anything is wrong... I guess I'm just being a bit hormonal. I'm just so worried that this will end in a loss again... and it was just so hard for me last time. It really helps knowing that I'm not alone in what i'm experiencing. U/S and BT even though i know my dates, so I'm just trying to stay positive and wait to see that little heart beat on the U/S.

    Fingers crossed til then.

    xx

Can you call your hospitals early pregnancy unit or clinic? Usually they are more then happy to order you some early blood tests to check your HCG is doubling and an early scan seeing as you have had one ectopic and tube removal in the past. Usually a midwife does this. Our hospital has this service and I would say going on your history they would be more then happy to give you a referral. I am sure everything is ok but if you get a referral for BHCG you wont have to wait as long as the end of the week. Your symptoms sound promising of a healthy pregnancy. It is normal to be concerned even without having had pregnancy losses before. Goodluck. I hope the next few weeks speed up and you get to see a healthy baby with a strong HB.

I have been told my a Dr the darkness of the lines usualy just means there is a lot of little ink in it. I wouldn't owrry in the slightest that the line isn't getting darker. Mine didn't get darker for a while and I am into a very healthy pregnancy.

I can completely understand your worry, but just sit back and enjoy being preg again. Take care of yourself and a HUGE congrats to you!!!

    Hey guys,

I'm sitting here in tears, so overwhelmed by the support!! LOL, thanks so much for your responses.

Emmy - that's very informative. I didn't know that they had anything like that at the hospital. I rang around and found a 24hr medical centre and although they were booked out, I told the nurse about my previous ectopic and she was great. She got me in at 7am this morning. So I've just had some bloods taken. The ultra sound isn't going to show anything for a few more weeks so I have to rely on blood work for now. will have results of the first quantitative test in 2 days, then i'll most probably need another. The doctor there also suggested the emergency room for anything as they'll triage me high priority due to my ectopic history. Your message was so beautiful, i really needed to hear that. thanks.

Pish, thank you and congrats to you also!!! You're probably right about the ink part too. I decided to ease my mind that I would try a different test just to be sure. I have been using forelife and first response and getting faint lines... so i bought a clearblue this morning and their lines are blue unlike the others which are pink.. so it looked a little darker to me. Perhaps they're more sensitive though? And you are so right Pish, I should be happy not worried! Its just a little easier said than done! haha.

Either way.. my blood work should give me some answers... I just wish it could happen faster!! LOL.

    CONGRATULATIONS BABE!!!

hope the BT puts your mind at ease, i have found the clearblue to be nicer to use than the FR...but that's just me...i find the pink like too hard to decipher...at least blue knows what it is doing lol!

    Thanks guys
Cassius, so glad u agree about the test colour! haha... pink on white just isn't as definate as blue on white haha.

Lee , Pish... thanks! You guys are starting to make me feel a little excited! And Pish, you know i didn't have him mark it urgent on the BT... completely forgot that part! I might give them a call now. Either way i guess it doesn't matter if its a one day wait or a ten day wait haha.. it's all going to feel like ten years!! haha.

So i guess this whole TWW is more like a 3 month wait isn't it? lol.

Feeling pretty good about this one now.. Thanks everyone!!

Its all got to do with how well the protein sticks to the ink on the test. A faint positive is just as good as a dark positive. I'm around the same gestation as you, and am still getting faint positives on 10miu tests. Slightly getting darker, but they are still faint.

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Babyface - CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALSO!!! Its crazy with this faint positive stuff hey? LOL... i'm becoming a POAS addict!! lol.
Smithy - thanks so much. I didn't realise how common miscarriage and ectopic pregnancies are until i joined this forum I always say that we're only given what the universe or the Lord knows we can handle.. but i don't know sometimes... and then this happens.. a new life seems to just make up for all the heartache in the past doesn't it? It's like you struggle to climb a mountain barefoot but when u get to the top, the view is breathtaking. I hope this time I'm at the top of my mountain.

Cassius, Pish, Babyface, Smithy, Lee, Emmy, Rach, msadelaide.... thank you all sooo much!! And good luck on your baby journeys also!!!

I decided to think to myself that it must be a boy as boys are meant to take a little longer to swim to the egg... so the hcg levels probably wouldn't be as high for them right?? Well that's what i'm going to believe until my test results come through haha

Actually its the girls that swim slower, but they live longer. Boy sperm swim faster and die quicker.

You would be due in July right? You should come over to the Due in July Belly Buddies

(P.S Its BabyFace, I just had a name change since I posted here last lol)

And yes, July 31st would be my due date. Yay!!! I will come over and join you now! Thanks!!!
