    Menstrual flow & conception?

This might be a silly question but-

Ive always had a 'normal' menstrual flow, of heavy-medium-light bleeding lasting 5-7 days. However ever since I had my DD my flows have been noticablly lighter & shorter. They never really start of heavy like it used to instead its a medium-light flow lasting around 3 days max. So my question is, is there any correlation between menstrual flow and ability to conceive? I guess I am thinking if there is less bleeding would that therefore mean less lining on my uterus in which implantation can occur?

    Hi SeppyM,

This sounds like what happened to me in the last 6-12 months or so. I also started having severe cramping before AF arrived, which didn't make sense to me because AF was getting lighter and shorter - surely I should be cramping less?!. I'm not sure what a regular GP would tell you, but I saw a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner and apparently it's indicative of a "blockage" (energy or blood, I think) and mine was caused by anxiety. I've been having acupuncture and in the last three months the cramping has stopped and my flow is brighter and heavier.

Not sure if that is helpful, but I felt that AF was wrong in some way and knew I wanted to find a way to fix it. Acupuncture seems to be doing the trick.

Don't know if it's any different because mine have always been this way but my periods have always been light-medium for 3 days. I don't know if it has any correlation but my pp bleeding has also been short and rather light.

I've had 4 pregnancies. My first was a missed miscarriage then DS, a chemical pregnancy and DD.

My periods have always been quite short and light in comparison to what is "normal". Of my three daughters, one was conceived while on the pull, one our first time trying, the other because I mistimed my cycle trying not to conceive.

So in my case, certainly doesn't mean it's harder!

I was worried about the same thing. My periods were heavy-ish pre contraceptive pill and suuper light and short post pill. I fell pregnant first cycle and I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow Definitely possible!
