My period is very similar and has been that way for years (started when I went off the pill also). I bleed very lightly for about 7 days and then the proper one kicks in for another 7 days (very annoying). When my GP ran some tests at the beginning it was hormonal and showed that I wasn't ovulating every month. I also had endometriosis. We did have fertility issues and had a number of IVF cycles. I agree with farmgirl77 that after 2 years of TTC you should get a referral to a fertility clinic. However after all the IVF I ended up falling pregnant naturally with my DS even with all my hormonal issues. I hope this is of some help.
