    Newby needing advice...

    Hi all,
Firstly this forum has saved my sainty for the last 10 days, as I am new to this whole TWW and TTCing!
And reading your thoughts, advice and stories has assured me so far heaps...
So I thought I will see if anyone can shed light on my situation..

    Ok so DH (32) and I (31)
I have/had CIN3 and two laser treatments for this - so far still showing as CIN3 but low grade and keeping in check...

    anyways...
it is our first month of TTC but not really trying..
My cycle is usually 31-33 days..
I can feel when I ovulate and from which side...
My last AF was 2nd Dec...for 3 days (normal)

I ovulated approx 20th Dec - DTD same night

    so leads me to now...
I felt like I was getting AF syptoms approx 8-9 days ago - not due till 4th Jan so quite early for me to get these syptoms...
My friends (with bubbas) keep telling me to wait till I miss AF to check
    I have done 3 HPT
    one at 9dpo
    one at 10 dpo
    one at 11dpo

    all BFP...
but I'm still due for AF
I have pregancy symptoms... I think..

do i wait till AF doesn't arrive and if so how long do I wait?
Or just go to GP and ask for HCG blood test??

    thanks in advance...

Congrats! Sounds like you are pregnant. Early pregnancy symptoms can feel EXACTLY like AF is coming. I would hold off going to the GP until your period is at least late. Sending sticky vibes .

My earliest pregnancy symptom is always the full/heavy feeling similar to when my AF starts, but I get it about 5-6 days before AF is due. The fact that you are getting BFP's means you are definitely pregnant, and hopefully you'll stay that way for the next 9 or so months The reason many people say to wait until after AF is late before going to the GP is just because there is such a high rate of miscarriage at this early stage. My obstetrician has told me it is possibly as high as 1 in 3 pregnancies that results in a miscarriage. But even with that rate you must remember that the odds are on your side I'd head off to the GP whenever you feel ready. My GP has never even confirmed my pregnancies with a test because he says that home pregnancy tests are so accurate these days that if I get a positive on one he'll trust that I'm pregnant. I requested a few blood tests to look at my hcg level with my son's pregnancy though as we had had a loss before my son so I was a little anxious and just felt I needed the reassurance that the increasing hcg level would give me. My daughter was conceived through IVF so we also had blood tests with her because it was standard practice for the clinic. I didn't have any confirmation tests with this little surprise bub, although my obstetrician still had me come in for an early scan at 6 weeks because of my first angel.

Best of luck with your pregnancy!

Sounds like your pregnant to me also. I felt exactly like I was getting AF aswell.

I went to the doctors and got a blood test referal early and waited until AF was due.

    Good Luck!

Congratulations on your BFPs! It definitely sounds like you're pregnant.

As the other girls said there's probably no rush to get a blood test straight away as the urine tests are very accurate these days (but unfortunately the risk of miscarriage so early is also in double digits). Having a blood test now won't make the next few weeks wait any easier IMO unfortunately. Fingers crossed for a sticky pregnancy!

    Update...

    Well,
Af didn't turn up....so off to the GP we went....
    four HPT later
9dpo, 10dpo, 12dpo and 15dpo all BFP's (first two very faint but still BFP)

so we are 5 weeks and 4 days...GP didn't do and offical test, much to DH disgust mainly because I was right all along (trusted HPT as I took them to for show and tell anyway!)

best of luck to all, sticky vibes sent out by the buckets

    and thank you all again...

    Further update - totally confused!

    Since my previous update -:
I thought we were 8 weeks pregnant (according to GP working out date based on LMP)
however went for early scan, as advised by OB receptionist saying the OB liked to know what he is dealing with, and b'cause I have a history of abnormal paps etc, I didn't think anything of going for a scan.

After telling a few family members our good news, I clued up that my trusted GP, whoknows everything there is to know about myself and my family - she hadn't fine a urine test or blood test. All the ladies in my family thought this was odd. I thought nothing of it.

So had booked my appt with OB, and 10 week bloods with GP.

BUT now at the scan we could only see empty sac - so far (still trying to remain positive!)
Which dated us at 5 weeks.

    So totally confused!!

Family urged me to go to 2nd GP and get bloods - so now begins the 2nd lot of waiting game.

I have soo many questions now, as 3 week difference is huge at this stage of pregnancy.

So try to work this out then -

    Last Menstrual Period: 2/12/11
    Ovulation dates 14-23/12/11
    DTD 20th and 24th
    Syptoms started 28th
    HPT'd 9,10,12,15 & 18DPO - all BFP
    next LMP due 4/1/12

Sorry your scan wasn't good news as expected. Unfortunately it sounds most likely that you're going to miscarry. :-( I really hope I'm wrong and you just ovulated later than normal but that seems less likely with your early BFPs. Do you have an appointment with the Ob to discuss things? And are you booked for a repeat U/S? I think that will be more helpful than seeing another GP.

Really sorry if things don't turn out the way you're hoping.

Hopes and Prayers being said hourly!
but I am definately relived a lot now!

Hi MLR. I think the most important bit of information you've given in order to work out your dates is when your next AF is due. Due dates based on LMP's can be out quite a bit because many woman have short or long cycles and GP's don't tend to take that into account.

Ovulation generally ALWAYS occurs 14 days before your next AF no matter how long your cycle is. So based what you've said, you should have ovulated on the 21st of December. You DTD on the 20th, so that works out perfectly. Based on ovulating on the 21st, your estimated due date should be around the 12th of September this year.

That puts you at 7w5d today.

As for your hcg results, they are quite promising. I have the paperwork with the hcg ranges that Melbourne Pathology use as their "expected normal values for pregnancy" and here they are for around your gestation:

    6-7 weeks: 4000-100200
    7-12 weeks: 11500-28900

After 12 weeks the level starts to drop again.

So your level is actually quite high!

    Best of luck with everything.

    Thanks ladies,
Your combined insight and experiences are a blessing!

Mylitta - my next AF was due on the 4/1, so coming up to 2nd missed AF due 6/2...
It's weird as the ultrasound said 5 weeks, the sonographwr said they only go by sizing not LMP.
I have as of the last few days, had some brown/light pink discharge mainly in evening (sorry if TMI), but that can be 'normal' so just trying to wait out the next few days then weeks!
    I'm taking a wild guess of EDD - sept 3rd to 21st!!
Huge difference but if you go by LMP I'd be nearly 9 weeks, ultrasound said 5 weeks, hcg suggests 6-7 weeks!!
Any EDD would be good as long as I can deliver a healthy bubs!!
    Thanks again ladies!!

So I heard the dr reading results over the phone to me, wrong
    First bloods hcg was 25577
    Second one 27528
Which means it's not doubling but just rising.

I just can't shake the feeling now that this ones meant to be...

Sadly, it was confirmed that our 'bubble' is a blighted ovum. 2 ultrasounds two weeks apart, few blood tests later...
Will be going for a curette this week.

    Best of luck to all...
Sprinkles of sticky dust to all..

Thanks again for your advice, as it definately helped me cope and process it all!
