Oh I just thought of one more positive- DH and I can ease up on the BDing!
We had a slow start to the week because I've been unwell, but before that... well... we were busy!![]()
No good news from my u/s this morning.
My dermoid has grown from 3.6cm x 3.2cm to 4.6cm x 3.4cm
My right ovary is still covered with follicles- no real dominant ones. The largest is still under 10mm.
My endometrium is very thin so it looks as though no AF any time soon.
The only positive I can see out of all of this is that at least I know (again) but it's not much of a consolation
ps. And if one more person says to me that "there are more important things than fertlity" I think I'll scream.![]()

**gives peekay a hug**
A hug doesn't do much, but it might make you feel better
Thanks ladies
I'm not really surprised about the endo lining and follicles. There was a small part of me though that was hoping like crazy that things MIGHT have changed, or I was about to spontaneously ovulate when I saw what I thought was EWCM
.
There's lots the drs can do to help me and DH conceive a baby- we just have to be patient and trust everything will be OK. I've recently started Metformin, so that's a step in the right direction!
For now, while we wait, I have 23 five year olds (I'm a teacher) who will keep me going and keep me busy!
Thanks for your kind words![]()
Sorry to hear all that Peekay!
Hope you get some answers soon!
Thanks
peekay,
Sorry to hear your U/S wasn't fabulous. But you're totally right at least you know. The constant BD really takes it out of you doesn't it! Now you can relax a little. A shame the dermoid has grown. Is that going to change how things proceed?
Don't rule out O in the next few weeks. Keep checking the cm and try the OPKs. One of those little follies might decide to do the right thing. O could sneak up on you any time - don't miss it!
Good luck![]()
At least you know so you can get it seen too *hugs*![]()
Thanks ladies
Not feeling quite so sorry for myself this morningalthough I'm still sick and at home again.
principessa, thanks for your kind words. I'm not sure what will happen with the dermoid. Last time my dr said she would be reluctant to take it out before TTC as it may further compromise my fertility (considering I have PCOS too) It was 3.4cm at this time. Now that it's nearly 5cm (and that seems to be the 'cut-off' IYKWIM) I'm thinking they may want to get it out. It's taken over my entire left ovary except for three small parts that the radiologist could see on the u/s. Not greatAlthough it's not as big as some I've read- over 10cm. But in saying that these ladies had to have their ovary removed too.
Has anyone had to have surgery on their ovary? I'm worried about how long this will 'set me back', but am also thinking that if it's POSSIBLE that it might prevent clomid or any other ovulation inducer to work then I have nothing to lose if I get it out (except maybe my ovary if it's too damaged).
The worst part is I have to wait until 13th September to find out what will happen![]()
Peekay for a fellow Brissie gal keep your chin up always there for a chat if you need it me email details are on my profile or we can catch up for a coffee. The waiting is the hardset part I had cysts when I was 18 and the took part of my ovary but no idea how long you would have to wait I have everything crossed for you.
Thanks tiggerlinda! I'm OK- chin is up!! As much as I hate it when others say it to me ( I can say it to myself though) it could be worse.
Do you mind me asking who you're seeing? I see you are having IVF- good luck!!!
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling great Peekay. Damn dermoid is really complicating things. Is there any chance that they can remove it and still keep the ovary?
The 13th September is a long time to wait - hang in there
TICKLISH
Peekay glad to hear u r ok! Yes the whole chin up thing is a bit of a drag. I am seeing Dr Asish Das at City Fertility Group he is really great we were seeing someone else before but they were not as great as the team at CFG. Our next round is starts with a visit on the 28th Aug and I am getting excited about it all now and hope that it will go well. New to this chat thing thanks for the wishes. I know Dr Das is fairly booked but he is worth the wait!
Thanks ticklish and tiggerlinda,
Ticklish, I'm pretty sure that they won't have to remove the ovary at this stage. From all my reading, most "big dermoids" are over 5cm and can get huge. So in the grand scheme of things, mine isn't that big.
I guess I'm so worried because when it was first diagnosed, my then GP said she would be reluctant to remove it before I conceive as it "may compromise your (my)fertility further". They were her exact words. I'm seeing someone different now so I'll be interested to hear what she says now that it has grown. I think ultimately though I will have to wait until I see the spec until I know for sure what course of treatment will be taken.
I'm on the 'cancellations list' at the spec so I'm hoping that an appointment will come up before 13th September.
Have you done another HPT??
tiggerlinda- all the best for your appointment- not long now! Is CFG the same as the Queensland Fertility Centre/Group? My sister in law recommended Scott Salisbury to me who works there. I already had this appointment, so I figured I'd go along to this one and if I'm unhappy I'll ask for a referral there.
peekay,
Just to put in my 2 cents worth..... I know your GP has told you that removing the dermoid may compromise your fertility but I probably wouldn't put too much stock in that. I know you probably have a great GP but the truth is GPs don't know (and can't possibly know) everything about everything and don't have the experience treating more difficult cases. When you see your specialist I'm sure they'll think the dermoid can be easily managed - and they've probably already dealt with a dozen worse ones that week already!
I'm a Bris girl too. CFG is different to Queensland Fertility Group - just a different group of FS. My FS is in the QFG. Its been so convenient for getting the BTs.
City Fertility are also know as City IVf. They are in Brisbane Private Hospital and they have info session and a kit which is great http://www.cityivf.com looking foward to hearing good news from you soon. I have a TCC journal which I suppose I should update too![]()
thanks for the reassurance principessa. I'm leaning towards agreeing with you but am a little afraid of surgery. It was convenient to have an excuse not to worry about it "My GP said ...". I feel deep down that it's for the best. I just really hope that if it does need to come out, it happens soon so that I can start clomid! I am also starting to think about the surgery as a step forward in TTC not a step back. So much can be psychological!
How long did it take you to get into the QFG? MY sil highly recommends Scott Salisbury and I'm wondering if it's worth the wait of trying to get an appointment with him?
I'm currently booked into someone based at the Wesley so I'm hoping tests etc can all be done there to save time too.
tiggerlinda- thanks for the info on CFG.![]()
