    Normal when falling pregnant?

    Hi,

Even though I know the only thing I can do is wait for the blood test results I really wanted to ask if anyone has ever had similar happenings in any of their pregnancies...

I stopped taking the pill in December 10 after my DH and I decided we wanted to start a family. My AF has almost been very regular and nothing changed after stopping the pill. I have had my AF on time for the past 3 months EXCEPT this month.

I have taken 3 home pregnancy tests which all came back positive. This was after I began to experience mild nausea, fatigue, frequent urination and became very hormonal. These symptoms started 5 days after my last AF last month.

My doctor sent me to have an ultrasound to assist in confirming my pregnancy and how far along I might be. They didn't find anything and was told that it might be too early at this stage to detect anything via ultrasound.

I began to bleed 12 days before my next due AF which I am concerned about as I have NEVER been this early in my life. My doctor told me that it might be my body threatening to miscarry (if I was pregnant). He sent me to have a blood test to measure my HCG levels. I got the results the next day but all the doctor told me was "it is too early to confirm at this stage so I would like you to have another blood test before the end of this week".

So I had the blood test done this morning and they told me that the results will be at my doctor's on Monday morning so I am left wondering for the rest of the weekend.

My question is... is it common for a woman to have an AF and an irregular one at that if I have only just fallen pregnant? I did read somewhere on the internet that it is possible, if my HCG levels are still quite low, that I can have "break through bleeding" and this can also be present during the whole of a pregnancy.

I really hate having the wait and I know that is my only choice but it would be interesting to discuss this with other women who have experienced or are experiencing the same thing. I'm being realistic at this point of time and understand that there is a chance that I may have really been pregnant but it might have failed.

I had bleeding a number of times during my pregnancy, and had a healthy bub.

The first blood test should have been able to confirm the pregnancy, did they tell you what the levels were? Hopefully the second test will show that the levels are increasing for you.

    good luck

I haven't actually taken any further home pregnancy tests. I thought it best at the time to wait on the blood test results and my doctor never gave me the details on the HCG levels. I wasn't aware they give you any of that information. I'm new to any of this...

I wish I could feel more positive but unfortunately I don't see the next blood results coming back with the answer I want.

I know hun They do give it to you if you ask for it, but alot of ppl don't know to ask for it. I think you have to have a hcg level over 20 to confirm pg- thats what iv'e been told. What pg tests did you use? Huge hun, it is so hard

The HPT's I took were a First Response, Confirm and the new Clearblue digital test with conception indicator. The digital test said I was pregnant at 1-2 weeks which by the booklet says a doctor will most likely diagnose you as 3-4 weeks but I think it would just pick up the smallest HCG in my hormones.

This whole process is just frustrating! I was so naive to think that it would be easy but it's quietly driving me crazy!

TTC (trying to conceive) can drive you crazy, and then you get a BFP (Big fat positive) and you think it will all be good, but then you get a different sort of crazy, especially if you have bleeding or have had a loss. Have you had a look at some of the other threads? There are TTC threads, and Belly buddy threads, you can get support from other women going thru their own crazy times too.

    Thanks HotI

I've read through a lot of other women's threads. It boggles your mind with all the different problems that us women go through and how many are actually having scares. If my results come back positive or even if they don't and in the future when I do fall pregnant with a health baby (hopefully!) I will be treating my body with a lot more respect. I want to give us the best possible chance of having a healthy bub and fingers crossed it happens sooner rather than later. I'm already taken multivitamins so that my body begins to absorb all of the nutrients required for a healthy pregnancy.

My DH has suggested that I take another HPT to put my mind at ease for the time being but I think I might just wait until tomorrow morning for the results from my doctor. Taking another HPT isn't going to change whether I am pg or not at the end of the day and if it is a BFN it will probably just take away this clear mindset that I'm slowly starting to create for myself.

This forum has definitely given me a whole new perspective on the situation.

    Hey again,

I just thought I would add on here tonight that in the end we decided to get a HPT while we were out shopping today. It was a BFN. Even though I took it in the afternoon and they advise that you should always take them first thing in the morning I was expecting the result and it was quite clear to me that this just wasn't my month for it. All my symptoms have disappeared altogether now which I knew in myself was a sign.

I still have to call my doctor tomorrow morning for the blood test result but I've come to terms and I'm at peace with the idea that I'm not pg. Obviously there was something there very early on but it just didn't want to stick. These are early days though and I will keep positive as we keep trying!

Thanks Yas. My DH called our doctor this morning and confirmed it was a miscarriage. He told my DH that the first BT showed a HCG level of 9 but it had dropped to 2 come the second BT.

We're a bit bummed out by the result but we'll keep trying
