The information you have posted doesn't give us enough information to really be able to give you an accurate answer as to the chances/likely hood of success and its very limited.

I am assuming a count of 66 is 66 in 1ml which is actually a decent count. Nothing wrong with that. They like it to be above 20 so thats way above 20 per mil (if we are talking in mls)

77% abnormal isn't fantastic but definately capable of achieving a pregnancy. That obviously is 23% normal forms which is ok. IVF likes 30% plus however alot of labs class 15% normal and above as a normal sperm forms. Its only when your going through a FS that they say anything below 30% is less then desired. 15% or lower has a much much less likely chance of achieving a pregnancy or achieving a pregnancy that doesn't end in m/c.

As for non motile did they give you a pecent of sperm that is non motile? Was it all the sperm that were not moving? I personally havent heard of a decent count, an acceptable normal forms having no motile sperm. But I am sure it can happen. I'd just clarify that non of the sperm are moving forward. If non are they you wouldn't achieve a pregnancy on your own as they would not be able to get to the target the egg.

As for not been able to use your partners sperm for IVF that would be unlikely seeing as his 1st SA has showed a percent of normal sperm. Provided there is something there thats mature enough and of normal form they should be able to help you achieve a pregnancy.

Sorry my computer doesn't allow me to write my message all at once so its going to be in pieces. I am really sorry you are going through this and you haven't been blessed with a baby yet. It really is the pits isn't it? It seems so unfair that something most people achieve with ease doesn't happen for some of us despite all the trying, tests etc.

If your partners sperm isn't of such a quality that fetilization rates are reduced then ICSI maybe neccessary (sort of an added procedure during IVF where they pick a good looking sperm and inject it directly into the egg instead of placing heaps of sperm in the dish with the egg and allowing fertilization to occur that way)

Just for something to compare your partners sperm to my DH count was 59. He had 79% abnormal forms so I am assuming 21% were normal. 35% were motile and swimming quickly (they like 50%) and another 5% were swimming but the rest were not motile (60%) I have still managed to get pregnant 3times in 3years however have had 2ectopics and 1m/c. Since my tube was removed I haven't been pregnant since (coming up 1year) so its obviously a combination of us both I guess. DH has been on a diet to improve his sperm and hopefully when he has his next test next month there is some improvement.

Some parts of the test I am not sure about but others I will tell you what I know (which isn't alot)

To start with it sounds like the test was done less then 2days from prior ejaculation. Is that right? Ideally a test should be attended approx 3days from the previous ejaculation to get the best picture.

A volume of 0.5mls is very small (the amount of semen/sperm) and I don't think a volume that size would be an accurate amount to test from. Perhaps your partner either doesn't have very much semen each time he ejaculates, the test was done too close to the prior ejaculation or he hasn't caught every last drop he could if you know what I mean. When attending the test it is best to get as much in the speci pot as possible. You yourself might know approximately the average amount of semen he has from past intercourse ie does it seem like alot, small, varies from one love making session to another etc. Perhaps its just a very small amount that one time he did the test.

As for non motile the results indicate that non of the sperm are swimming so they basically swim but dont move. I do not know what causes this and how that can be changed. Perhaps there is a simple reason for this like the temperature was not ideal and the swimmers were dying by the time it was tested. It should be tested as soon as possible from the ejaculation before 1hr although in the right environment it can be left longer.

For your next test/ partners I'd ensure all the right techniques are used to ensure an accurate analysis can be obtained. To me 77% abnormal forms is exceptable to achieve a pregnancy as is the amount per mil although I would be hoping the volume per ejaculation was much larger then 0.5ml. I really hope the first test was just a bodgy one and this next one shows a percent of motile sperm and a larger volume. To get an accurate description you really need atleast 2 or 3 tests to compair so try not to panick too much until you have the next lot of results. Are you seeing a FS, Gyno or GP? Let me know how you go.

    immotile sperm analysis

yes well we did one this morning and he actually went into the lab and did it so we shoul get an accurate result this time. we get results back tomorrow. and atm i am seeing a gyno and we are also booked in for a consultation next week with the ivf specialist. i wonder how long the process goes for in the ivf from when you see them till they put your eggs back in do you know?
