    Ovulating late?? Advice please.

I’ve been seeing an FS because I had an unusually high FSH level.

That’s been rectified and I had a full cycle of blood tests to find out when I was ovulating.

The last couple of months, I’ve had 28 day cycles and ovulating on Day 17.

AF was due yesterday and I was convinced on Saturday night that was when I was going to get it as I had really strong pain.

The pain was on my left side, could I have been ovulating late? It was Day 27 of my cycle though! I didn’t have blood tests this cycle to check when I was ovulating.

    AF still hasn’t arrived.

Is it unusual to ovulate so late in a cycle? Especially after ovulating mid cycle in the past?

    late O?

    Hi there,

Is there any chance you are pregnant? If Af is late and you are having some pain then it's possible.
If you think theres no chance then I guess you could be ovulating late but are there other signs ie. fertile mc or ovulation pain?? If you usually ovulate around day 17, did you have any of those signs happening around then?
If you did O on day 17 then perhaps the pain you have now is a) pre menstrual funniness, b) implantation pain (it's about 10 dpo?) or c) early pregnancy symptoms.

You could do a HPT but it could be too early to get a positive.
    Hope that helps...

I O'd on day 26 this last cycle, and fell pregnant! hehe. But yeah, I was around day 17 other cycles, so this cycle was an odd one.

I agree with sassba, were there other fertile signs like EWCM? That's usually my give away. Also, are you charting at all? I find my charts are usually pretty clear with pinpointing my ovulation.

Good luck! Would be lovely to hear it's a BFP!

EWCM? What's that? Nope, not charting. We're kinda not really TTC really full on, if it happened we'd be thrilled.

Had no pain around Day 17 at all.

    What's implantation pain? Total newbie

I'm Day 30 today, when is it too early to do a HPT?

BTW, I feel fine and quite energetic.

    Hi Shoegirl,
The acronym EWCM = egg white cervical mucus. This is when you body is at its most fertile.
Implantation pain refers to when the egg is burying itself and making the baby!
If you usually O on day 17, then at day 30 you would be 13dpo (days past ovulation). If you did do a HPT then it *should* be showing up a + if you are pregnant.

    Smile answers

No problem, I seem to have learned sooo much about all this ttc stuff & I think I can give you your answers. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

EWMC stands for egg white mucus. If you have watery and or stretchy mc (mucus) that is a little like egg white that is fertile mc, you are not far off ovulation. EWMC can start anywhere from 5-6 days before, starting out watery and not so stretchy and ending up with maybe one lump of stretchy mc, clear or maybe a little opaque. BUT not everyone get this type of mc. You don't have to have it all day, just once is indicative of fertility or pending fertility. Once you have ovulated MC usually dries up fast.
Implantation of a fertilised egg into your uterus can cause some pain and/or light bleeding. It would occur anywhere from 3-11 days after you ovulate. BUT not everyone experiences it.
Most women dont get a positive hpt until 13 days past ovulation.
If you dont know when you ovulate then you cant be totally sure when to test but if you feel you are late for Af then why not test, if it is negative it may be too early and actually be a false positive.

Good luck, hope you get a good result very soon!

    Thanks everyone for your replies.

Did have some mucas on Saturday night, thought I was getting AF so put a tampon in and it was very slippery, sorry if TMI.

Think I will wait until tomorrow morning to do a HPT.

    Will update then.

Also, I took a couple of Nurofen, is that bad?

Nurofen should not be used during pregnancy as they have been known to cause or suspected of causing harmful effects on the human foetus without causing malformations. The effect may be reversible.
I think it can causes an increased risk of bleeding.
