    Question Ovulation HELP!!!!

    Hi everyone,
this is my first time here and I'm not sure if I'm in the right place to ask this question so here goes. How do you know when you are ovulating? I'm currently on the Billings method, and with my cycle being around 40 days for the past 3 cycles I've had ewcm probably twice in each cycle so how do you know when you are ovulating? And the other thing is that I start spotting mid cycle, bloat and urinate more frequently from then on. So please help.

    Thank you

Sorry Ani22, I'm not sure if i can relate to you but usually the sign of CM being different and more of it is a good sign you are ovulating... i get a bit moody around "O" time like AF time and I get slight pains in my abdomen showing that i am ovluating... just slight cramps..some girls get these too it's common.
are you just off the pill? maybe start taking your temps? I haven't tried that yet but i think i know when i am ovulating without doing that. i too tend to bloat a bit when Ovulating....
have you joined FertilityFriend? I did but havent used it yet.... its a bit confusing to me!

The best way to tell when you have O'd is by a temperature shift. I've been using FF for a couple of cycles now and I've been able to pinpoint my O day to a day by temping each morning. I also found that I got O pain on both of those days.

When is the best time to start fertility friend?? Is it 1st day of your AF? (1st day of cycle?) please someone?

sorry to crash your thread Ani22, but i s'pose it is related...

    Hi Ani,

I find that EWCM is the best indicator of O as per the Billings Method.

I believe that EWCM usually appears around 24 hours before 0 for most women and can hang around a few days after 0, so when you say you get it twice each cycle, how far apart do you observe it? Maybe you O twice!!!

Temperature changes happen after O so are not good at pinpointing O, more for observing a trend and confirming O after it has occurred. (Then again for me, I threw out my thermometer as my temps were usually all over the place and they don't rise even when I am pregnant.)

The spotting mid-cycle, bloating and urinating sure sounds like O signs to me. I get the frequent peeing after O too (glad I am not the only one), which is just frustrating because it can be a early pregnancy symptom too!!!

Most frequently O occurs approximately 14 days before AF arrives, but this varies from woman to woman with anything from about 11 to 16 days before being considered within the range of normal.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey ladies,

Looks like AF came today, I guess I'm not pregnant I guess will keep trying....
TICKLISH do you have the exact symptoms as I do, like the bloating, spotting and bleeding during mid cycle? And how long does your cycle last....mine is around 39 days .....this has been happening for 3 months now and I'm wondering if I should be more concerned... thanks for all your replies ladies

    Hi Ani22,

I get the bloating around the time of O and the frequent peeing leading up to AF, but not the mid-cycle spotting. My cycle is longish too...currently 35 days, but it can be longer at times.

Have you just come off the pill?

You might want to have the spotting and the longish cycles checked out if you are concerned just for reassurance if you are TTC.

I am trying acupuncture to try and shorten my cycles because we want to TTC again and I just want a chance more often, IYKWIM!!! This is my first month, so we will see what happens.

Good Luck for the BFP soon.

I was ttc for almost 6 months with a long cycle like yours (about 40 days)
I didn't know when I was ovulating, and ended up buying some ovulation test strips off of ebay. I did a test every day from cycle day 15, and got a positive test on cycle day 23. So we did the deed, and I got pregnant that cycle with our little girl.
    Maybe you could try that?

Thanks ladies for your info, I've got a doctors appointment this coming monday and will see what happens from there. I've been off the pill since early january and I'm currently taking this herbal supplements called dong quai complex given to me by a naturopath to help regulate my period and assist in ovulating so hoping for the best. Can't wait for the day for a positive result we are so ready to have a baby after our mc last june....all the best for you ladies ttc and congratulations Shannon and all the best for you, DH and DD to come ....
