Hi all, my hubby and I are TTC for about 8 month and no luck so far. I have had some blood tests done a while back and just reviewed them again. One of the test was for Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA) and it came back positive with 1:80. This is only considered a weak positive test, but I had a look on the internet and it got me worried. It says that this can impact fertility and can make it harder to conceive or to stay pregnant. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this or can offer any advice? The GP didn't mention the positive test at all, but after I asked him he also admitted he doesn't know if that has an impact on fertility. Would really appreciate any advice!!!
I pretty sure there is some type of treatment for ANA and it can impact on fertility, but I don't know much about it. If you don't get any luck with advice posting here try the Long Term Trying to Conceive forum as you might find some girls with experience with ANA over there.
Have you got a FS? If not, ask your GP for a referral to a FS as they would have a lot more knowledge on ANA and relevant treatments. When the GP first mentioned a referral to MIVF to see an FS for me I kind of freaked out because I thought it meant I would be put on IVF. The FS's however do a lot more than IVF and that's usually after other things are unsuccessful.
Be careful of the lure of google. I'm a catastrophiser from way back and google can feed into it. I did however learn a lot which helped direct my conversations with medical professionals and I'm sure that helped short cut a lot of things.
