Hi Alana
Sorry to read of your problems, I had very similar issues when i was 5 weeks pregnant with my bub. i had string pain in my right side for two days so i went to the emergency room and they did blood test to check my levels and sent me for an ultra sound the next day. They couldn't see anything from outside so they did an internal one, did they do that for you? on the internal one they could see a tiny gestational sac but no heartbeat this is apparantly normal and a mass in my right ovary (where i had pain) they told me to go back in two weeks for another scan and wait and see. I had another external ultrasound at 7 weeks and could see a little jellybean but not heartbeat so they had to an internal scan again they could see the heart beat then. I still had the cyst/mass in my ovary and some free fluid around my uterus. Two days after my scan i had some bleeding (brownish in colour) my dr said i probably ovulated from right side and there was some left behind, there was a name but i forget it and the bleed was my body getting rid of it. I had pain on and off the whole way through my pregnancy but delivered a healthy baby boy in April this year.
I understand how scary waiting is especially waiting for blood test results, i've got my fingers crossed for you hope it all turns out okay.
Kim

I had an ectopic 10 yrs ago after taking the morning after pill (stupid me). I must have been only 5-6 wks along max when I found it began to get painful to stand up straight. I had barely any bleeding and a sense of lower abdominal heaviness and pain - I was actually haemorraging into my abdominal cavity by that stage. Next, the classic (excruciating!) referred shoulder pain set in and I was taken to emergency. The pain just spread after that.
I was in surgery the next day where they sucked out the blood and hunted for the foetus. They believe it aborted itself from the tube. I spent a week in hospital with 110 stitches in my gut.
I suppose these things may vary for everyone, but there's no way an ectopic creeps up on you. It comes fast and hard.
I had an ectopic in Dec 05. I was 9wks before it was detected. I was gutted and it took me a very long time to recover emotionally. Take care of yourself and know that we are here if you need to vent or ask questions or just chat.
Like Lisa, I had an ectopic a few years ago...ruptured at 8.5 weeks...it is life changing and took me along time to get over the trauma of both losing our precious baby and nearly my life. Take care of yourself...we're all here for you xxx
