Is There A Chance I Might Be Pregnant? (Advice please!)
Hey
I've just joined this forum, i came on here to get some advice, by people who know what they are talking about. There is a wait to get into see my doctor. I keep getting told different things
I was fooling around with my guy. We didn't have intercourse. He fingered me, and im 90% sure there would have been sperm on his fingers (very fresh). It also happened on the day i was most fertile.
I am aware that these 'symptoms' may be due to other stuff (been worrying a lot lately).
For the past three weeks, ive been feeling, very tired and have a little trouble sleeping (more than usual), lost my appetitie, constantly feeling sick to the stomach /nausea (like im goin to throw up), dizzy. The feeling sick feeling is getting to much. I haven't actually been sick yet though. I feel sick when i wake up, before i eat, after i eat.
All the above came about 4-5 days after the 'fooling around'. I woke up one morning, extremely early, like out of a nightmare, with i feeling i was going to throw up.I was fine the day before.
I didn't think it was possible to get pregnant this way, but i keep getting told it is. I even got my period - but still getting told so.
My period was NOT normal. Mine has always been very regular. Ive never had a period like this. I was relived when it came, but it wasn't right. It started off brown (never is on the first day). the next day, where it should have been heavy, wasn't. it wasn't even a quater of the same heaviness. Usually the first 2 days when i wake up in th morning is very heavy. There were just a few spots on the pad. It only last 3 days. It always last 7.
As i said, didn't think u could get pregnant that way, as we didn't really have sex, but would it be a good idea to get a home test anyway, or just wait until next month to see if my period comes?
Any advice would be nice I keep taking it from people who dont really know what they are talking about!
Yes, you can absolutely get pregnant this way - you got sperm INSIDE your vagina on your most fertile day - that's how EVERYONE gets pregnant. I know it seems unlikely given the fact that his penis wasn't inside you, but only the sperm has to get in there and during your peak fertile period your body is primed to support and assist that sperm and get it to the egg.
Having said that your symptoms began rather early. Implantation usually takes at least 7 days, so i'd think your nausea etc. began a bit too soon, BUT some women really DO have symptoms before implantation, even if the mechanism for that is unclear, so it's possible. Bear in mind that stress can cause the same symptoms as pregnancy and given that some women go into labour without knowing they were PG clearly relying on symptoms to decide if someone is pregnant isn't the best idea. You need to take a test, urine (home pregnancy test) or blood (at the doctor's), to be sure.
Your period sounds like an implantation bleed - oldish blood (which is why it was brown) from the embryo implanting into the lining of the uterus.
If i were you i'd see the doctor ASAP, and meantime yes, you could do a home pregnancy test. Whatever you will want to do it's important to know ASAP if you are pregnant or not. If you want to keep the baby antenatal care is very important, if you decide to terminate the pregnancy the earlier you have that done the easier and safer it is.
Bear in mind that even if you are NOT pregnant, fooling around in the way you did leaves you open to STD's and it'd be wise to get tested just in case. The test is simple, usually a urine sample and a swab-set similar to a pap smear. Only condoms offer protection, and HPV can defeat even those.
It's hard to know how old you are - your question is one which maybe a youngish woman would ask but you write very well and perhaps you're older afterall. Whatever age you are confide in someone who can support you, get company in all this. A problem shared is a problem halved. This is a scary and confusing time, let your friends and family support you.
I hope you get the outcome you want. Best of luck either way.
