    Smile Trying to conceive

    Hi everyone,

I have a situation where my husband works away lot and is only home for a week at a time and goes away for 2. I would really like some advice on what would be the best way to conceive. We have been trying for 6 months and still nothing.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!!

Probably worth getting on Fertility Friend - internet - and start tacking your cycles so you at least BD at the right time (if he is here). If it always seems to be wrong then you can look at IUI - which means you can get sperm frozen and inserted into you at the right time

I guess that makes it alot harder considering the odds of him being home when you are O'ing are against you. Do you have regular cycles? Do you have rough idea when you are O'ing.

    Detox!

I would recommend that you do a thorough detox whilst your hubby is away to eliminate any additional toxins which may be compromising your fertility. I have a couple of friends who have fallen pregnant easily after doing a thorough detox- despite previous failed attempts. Mind you, their husbands did the detox with them, but your hubby could still follow the basic principles whilst he is away (if possible!)- ie- avoiding alcohol, caffeine, sugar, pharmacueticals and eating loads of fruits & veg. Plus hubby should start taking a zinc supplement if not already to improve sperm motility. There is some research which suggests that women taking folic acid prior to conception can help.
The Quick Cleanse 15 Day Detox with Probiotics is meant to be a good one- you can get it from most chemists/health food stores. At the very least, you will feel great!!
    Best of luck to you.

taramaree - Good luck and I hope it happens for you soon.

    My only advice is to:
    * try and relax (i do find it impossible sometimes but you can only try)
    * healthy lifestyle as in exercise, low alcohol and caffeine intake, lots of fresh fruit & veg
    * drink lots and lots of water
    * think positive (as often as you can, it's normal to have 'down' days every now & again
    * take pre-conception vitamins (both of you)
    * chart your cycle & or use opk's (it would be romantic to think you could conceive at any time but there really is only one or two 'magic days' when you can catch the egg.

this may be a silly comment

but stop trying, all the stress you are placing on yourself may not be helping and I know I don't enjoy special times when it is expected or rushed.

As they say it will happen when you least expect it

I'd suggest you temp all the time, when he's there and when he's not so you can pinpoint when you are fertile so that you can take advantage of it when he's home, otherwise you could go years just playing it by ear. Best of luck.
