Question Too soon 2 try for No2????

I have a question..... My gorgeous boy is now 5 months old, I would like to give him a sibling asap, Is this too early??? I'm 38yrs old (soon to be 39) Lewis was conceived via IVF cycle, I have 8 snow babies... I realise i am getting older and would like him to have a sibling asap. I wanted another as soon as I had him (yes the day i had him!) I know thats crazy but I want him to have company when he gets older. Am i thinking about this WAY too early or should I give it more time? I really feel the ticking of the clock here. Some thoughts would be gratefully heard.

Hey there, personally I don't think it's too early - but an ideal age gap is different for everyone.
If you're ready and you've got your reaosns for it then go for it! I think it's a wonderful idea.
You know, it might be tough - but getting through those tough times makes us stronger women, even more wonderful mothers and of course gives us an overwhelming sense of "can do". Good luck with your decision

I'm 39 and I have a nine month old and if it wasn't for a dodgy pelvis which still isn't 'right' and which makes it hard to care for one baby, let alone two, I would have started trying when she was about six months old because time is running out for me too.

I say GO FOR IT! Better to be run off your feet for a while with two gorgeous babies than have a lifetime of regrets if your TTC journey for no. 2 is not plain sailing.

    Thanx Ashleajayne,,,,
I should explain more, I am being presured to start medical treatment for RA which entails taking a drug which is low dose Chemo. to do this means that I will wreck any chances of having another baby in the next 2 years because of treatment. so I have a choice of go back in the next few months OR wait maybe 3-5 years and by then I will be in my 40yrs. Not that being in my 40's is a problem ..Im just not sure how my body would cope being pregnant after the treatment. The treatment is an ongoing thing so once I start i have to continue.. (only taking a BREAK after i have established a good base).

Maybe you should talk it over with your doc. Plenty of women do have babies in their 40's & get through it. In the end it's your choice though.

Thanx guyys... was beginning to wonder if I was crazy have had ALOT of negative responses. Regards my doctor my Gp thinks it ok but my RA specialist just wants to "Fix Me" and is only focussing on that... not what I want.

Hi. I don't think it's too early, if you feel right about it, go for it. There will always be someone negative about it, no matter if you say you are going to start trying in a few months or you say you want to wait a few years. Don't worry about pleasing other people, just do what makes you and your DP happy.

I say go for it! But will delaying your RA increase your risk of health problems in the future?

Whenever you feel it is right is the right time!

Speaking as a 42 year old who has been ttc (for our third) since I was 40, I wouldn't put it off too long - as my doc keeps reminding me, the chances of getting pg after 40 drops dramatically.

Not sure of the implications for your RA though.

I conceived our 2nd DD when DD1 was 5 weeks old. Then When DD2 was 5 months old i fell preg with #3...

If the time is right for you and your partner..go for it!

i agree with others - go for it. Who knows after #2 you may desire a #3 !!!!!

Like Kimbaz, me and my sister are 10 months apart - my mum fell pregnant when i was 6 wks old - and whilst we did have some ripper fights during our teenage years, we are best of friends today.....

    Hi there,

I have a DD who is also nearly 5 mths old and my DH and I will be starting to try for #2 next month as I have just got AF in the last week so I say if you feel its the right time go for it only you know what is best for you and your family.

I def think that you need to talk it over with your GP and Specialist and then make an informed decision based on all of the information.
Of course your RA Specialist's agenda is to Fix you, so of course he/she will have a different mindset. That is why you need to talk and not be pressured in to any decision.

Good luck with whichever way you decide to go.
