TTC after being on the pill

Hi!

My TTC situation is, I'm 30 and have been on the pill for over 10 years, and now my partner and I have decided to start trying for a baby.

I've got 2 more weeks on the pill to finish up the current pack and then we'll wait and see what happens! I've already started taking a prenatal multi and I'm ready to start charting my cycle and keeping an eye out for all the signs and symptoms.

Because I've been on the pill for so long I don't really remember what it's like to be off it, so I'm glad to be taking a break from it now.

I would love to read anyone's experiences with TTC after being on the pill.

Good luck Maria I spent 6 years on the pill, then fell pregnant with DD the first cycle off it then was on it for another 6 years, then had a break for a couple of years (one of the joys of being single lol) then when I met DP I went back on it for 13mths & am pleased to say I was lucky enough to fall pregnant 3 mths after I stopped taking it which resulted in an early loss but we were successful in becoming pregnant that cycle & I'm now 19 weeks

Everyone has different experiences coming off the pill, I've been very lucky. Hopefully it won't take long for your cycle to find it's natural rhythm

When me and my DF decided to TTC I was halfway through my pack.. I just stopped taking them and just started TTC!
That was 8 weeks ago... Im now 4w6d pregnant!
I had read that you can ovulate at any time when you come off the pill di make sure you are DTD often!

After stopping the pill, my cycle took 66 days to return which the doctor said was quite normal after being on the pill for 10 years!
I got pregnant but sadly miscarried at 6 weeks.
Doctor told me not to try for one cycle and then we were pregnant the next one.
All up it took about 5 months!

I was lucky enough to fall pregnant the first cycle off the pill which I was also on for 10 years, however this also resulted in a mc. We did however fall pg the next cycle and now have our little ds.

I think it will depend on the type of pill you were on, the levels of hormones that were contained inside, and a variety of different lifestyle factors including health, diet and exercise that will all add up to how long the process may take. I hope that its a quick and easy process. I wouldnt worry about finishing the pack, mid cycle or not wean yourself off them and see how you go.

Hi Maria!

I was on the pill for 8 years before TTC. I was charting my temps and using OPKs as I was worried I wouldn't ovulate after being on the pill for so long. My first two cycles were long (53 and 39 days) and I didn't ovulate, but the next cycle (first time ovulating) I fell pregnant and am now 19 weeks pregnant!
