    TTC feeling deflated

Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I thought I would join as I am a little frustrated.

My husband and I have been ttc for 3-4 months. I only went off the pill in January after we got back from our honeymoon and i guess i never realised how messed up your body can be after the pill.
I was sure I was pregnant this month, AF is 18 days late, feeling a bit nauseous after I ate, really tired, sore back but all HPT were coming back negative so I got a blood test... got the results yesterday and to my disappointment it was negative. I always just assumed that i would fall so easily but obviously not.

So my question is why hasn't AF come to visit?? I've never been this late in my life.... The doctor told me that I should keep trying as I can still ovulate even if AF hasn't come. I just assumed I wouldn't ovulate again until i had it but clearly i don't know enough about it all. I bought the ovulation test kit so hopefully I ovulate soon as we can get on with trying...

I stopped the pill in January of 2012 and it took 3 months to get AF and my cycle back on track. I then fell pregnant the next month. I remember feeling those pregnancy type symptoms as well but I think it was just the withdrawal of the pill. Hope your body sorts it self out soon - I think the pill can really confuse it for a while!

welcome to BB, and welcome to the crazy world of ttc =)
it can take a while for your body to get back into the swing of things after being on hormone conception (the pill).
wishing you all the best with ttc!

Thanks!! It's good to hear others stories. It was a bit of a tease having had af twice and now nothing... Hubby and I have our fingers crossed that it won't be too long!!

I look at my sister who fell pregnant with her 2 kids first time and get frustrated. But hubby is great making me just think positively

    Hang in there sweets.

Just to let you know. A healthy couple can take almost 12 months to conceive, that's normal according to studies. Generally if your any longer than that drs will then take the next step and do some testing.

Hang in there. With my DD it took a while (nearly 2 years!) And with this pg, it was the fifth month trying and unassisted! It will happen hun. Just don't stop trying.

Are you using opks and a sperm friendly lube?

I highly recommend pre seed. Pretty sure it definitely helped conceive this baby... :-)

Welcome to bellybelly! There are lots of ladies TTC on here and lots more with advice on how to help the process along. Come and join our TTC 1-6 months group, there are a great group of ladies there in the same situation that are a great sounding board and support network! I can't link as I am on my phone, but the group falls in the same sub forum where you popped this post

Wow thanks for all the replies! I will definitely join that group!

I just looked up pre seed, I would never have thought to even use a lubricant!!

I know that 3-4 months trying is not a long time I guess a part of me (probably same as every other woman) hoped it was be quick and easy!!!

I took 10 months after coming off the pill we were both healthy in our early 20's with no fertility issues sometimes it just takes a bit for your body to catch on that you mean business and its not just fun lol if your going to keep using ovulation predictors its alot cheaper to buy them off the net good luck and I highly recommend the ttc groups there
Also forlife brand has a sperm safe lubricant is alot cheaper than pre seed but not quite as good but it did the job for us

Welcome! And don't lose hope. It's frustrating but it can take a while- for some women it won't take long at all after coming off the pill but for others it takes a long time. This can include naughty irregular or surprising cycles. It took DH and I about 19 months to make our DD, prior to that I'd been on the pill off and on for about 8-9 years. Are you charting in any way to pinpoint ovulation? Ie monitoring changes in your cervical fluids, temping or using OPKs? These can help. If you're not certain you ovulated already I'd be taking your doc's advice and baby dancing until AF or ovulation arrives!

I did reply to this, but upon re checking it, it appears it didn't work.

I am actually feeling a lot more positive since joining this, so thank you to you all I have just bought opk's so i will give them ago. Apart from that, I hadn't really been actively doing anything to chart my cycles - admittedly my naivety to it all, i just thought it would happen! I have an app on my phone that i chart when i get af, and when i am intimate etc, so that has been giving me a rough guideline (probably inaccurate). It was funny though, because i noticed the stringy CM and i thought that was a sign of pregnancy, but now after more research, it was probably more a sign of ovulation.

I just have the first response OPK's are they what everyone else is using, or are there 'better' ones? Would love to hear what everyone else uses to track ovulation...

Jellybean what app did you use? I used my days but I haven't been consistent enough to see if it is accurate. Was yours accurate? I had a friend that thought she was ovulating but when they fell pregnant the doc told them when she ovulated and it was heaps later xx

    Welcome!

I know exactly how you feel.... We have been TTC since November last year and still nothing. I came off the pill too and had fairly regular cycles (much to my surprise) until this month where all of a sudden I'm at CD45 and no AF.

Starting to realise that this may take a little bit longer than I expected.

Def join the TTC group, the ladies are lovely.

    Apps

    Hi

Ive got the Essential Baby Egg timer on my iphone. I actually thought to myself "Great- Im going to get pregnant with an iphone!" LOL

No really, its great because you can mark you AF, and put you cycle length and LPhase in the settings and it gives you an approximations on your fertile window.
I wouldn't believe it to be 100% accurate, more a guide, you even get a message as you come up to your peak fertility 'Go home now!'...(and DTD)....lol.

You will find though that is your cycles vary like mine youucan change the settings and it adjusts your fertile days but basically the general 'fertile week' is pretty close when comparing with your CM.

Anyhow, just a little bit on Apps.

    Good luck
    June
