For those TTC a girl this is the diet for girls.

    FOOD TO GET A GIRL

As much milk as possible (1 1/3 pints or 770 ml per day). Fresh cream, yogurt.
Limited meat or fish (1 1/4 OZ or 125 g per day).
    Unsalted butter, unsalted soft cheese.
    Milk puddings.
Salt-free wholemeal bread, crisp-bread and pastry, without yeast.
    Rice, pasta, semolina, tapioca.
    Limited amount of potatoes.
Fresh or, frozen carrots, green beans turnips, aubergines, onions, leeks, peas.
Cucumber, radishes, peppers, cress, celeriac, celery.
    Unsalted walnuts, hazelnuts almonds, peanuts.
Fresh, frozen or tinned apples, pears, clementines, strawberries, raspberries. Tinned only pineapples, plums and peaches, all without syrup. Jam once daily, sugar, honey.
Vegetable oils, spices, home-made sauces without salt.
    Mineral water.

FORBIDDEN WHILE TRYING FOR A GIRL

Salt and salt substitute. All salted or smoked foods, including salty cheese.
Coffee, tea, tinned fruit juice, fizzy drinks.
    Wine, beer, cider, liqueurs, aperitifs.
All meat and fish, except for daily allowance above.
White bread, pasties and biscuits, unless salt-free crisps.
Sweetcorn, popcorn, parsley, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, mushrooms, courgettes, endive, avocados, fennel, raw tomatoes, soya beans, dried peas and beans.
All fresh fruit except those listed above as allowed; dried fruit. Chocolates and sweets.
Bicarbonate of soda and all prepared sauces.
All ready-made dishes whether tinned, fresh or frozen.

Now a word of caution. If you suffer from certain conditions, these diets may be dangerous for you. The salty, boy diet should not be undertaken by anyone who has high blood pressure. The girl diet should not be undertaken by anyone who has kidney stones or high blood calcium levels. If in doubt, check with your GP first.
And make sure that any restrictions you put on yourself don't lead to an unbalanced diet. A plentiful supply of nutritious food is essential just now to you and your unborn baby. When all is said and done the health of parents and baby is of paramount importance. If the diet upsets you in any way, come off it. Dawn Osborne said her cycles had become unpredictably longer since she had been following Mr Hewitt's diet. And the high doses of Vitamin C gave her diarrhoea and made her feel ill. So she stopped. Nevertheless, Dawn and Darren got their daughter by sticking to the correct rules for timing and sperm count. Kristina joins her big brothers, Matthew and James.

For girls: Calcium and Magnesium (from Carboniferous limestone rocks)

Both DH and I are taking cranberry tablets to make his sperm and my CM more acidic, we are also DTD 2-3 days before O, I'm also taking the calcium and magnesium tablets suggested in the girl diet. I think that's all we're doing now.

    hugs xoxo

Thanks for that Amanda. I am just bought some cranberry and magnesium tablets to lower my PH, but I think it is too late to have any affect this cycle. I just hope the reading gets lower as I get closer to O.

As for the diet, I think I am on the boy diet, as eat just about everything on the forbidden list for a girl! LOL.

There is so much info and so many different ways to go about it Catrionalee. Heaps of good tips in this thread and previous one. Or you can google (gender selection). There are online companies who provide complete packages or there things to try for yourself. Just depends how you want to go about it.

Heres what I am doing to get a package of bugs and snails and puppy dogs tails (IS that really what little boys are made of???) Anyway... I already have two lots of sugar and spice and everything nice.

Charting cycle to pinpoint ovulation and then DTD as close to that day as possible
Abstain for about 4 days previous to Ovulation
Taking supplements to increase sodium and potassium
Take ural powder daily to alkalise my system
Follow "boy diet" (kind of) for 8 weeks (I was very acidic to begin with)
Avoid eggs and milk and COFFEE
Use BD position with deepest penetration
Get DH to drink coke or coffee 1 hour before BD
Get DH into boxers instead of briefs as much as possible
Get DH to take Zinc supplement to improve quality of swimmers
Considering using the "bi-carb finger" but still undecided

And if all that doesn't bring me the little blue bundle I am hoping for... well then, I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Three is definately my limit.

Catrionalee - I have DTD and hoping i have done what i thought was right for a boy. I was pretty lazy and did not follow the diet, but drank Alka Selters & Ural daily, i tested my PH and DH PH too. Which at the time went high.
I gave him coke about 1 hour beofre hand and i did attempted the bi carb thing. I can tell you in about 9 mnths weather it worked of not

Ural tea ... i love it !! sounds like someone i know too.

theres a couple of different boy diets. also look at the "forbidden on girl diet list" posted above (i'd rather eat FORBIDDEN foods than go on a diet .) check out previous threads and google til your eyes hurt!!! i just did a few things cos I HATE dieting. Just be aware of your health and that you may be trying to alter the natural chemical balance of your body.

WARNINGS: increased salt intake could be a problem for some people. alka seltzer contains aspirin.

But most importantly - increased banana intake greatly increases risk of slipping over ALWAYS MAKE SURE ALL BANANA SKINS ARE ACCOUNTED FOR AFTER CONSUMPTION!!!!!!

BTW potatoes are higher in potassium than bananas. I did not know this until recently. so white bread, salty snacks, spuds and NO fruit and veg. hhmmmm how can they call this a diet???

I guess i should have mentioned that I am BFP. 5 weeks to be exact Just need the rest to fall into place.
I really will not be upset if it turns out to be a girl. I guess i am just aiming for a healthy baby, but thought i would try my luck & see how i go.

Good Luck all those Baby Dancers

I might go in search of other girls with nothing to do but watch the calendar and be impatient.

    Myson & Amanda - GL.

I did my OPK test about 1/2hr ago. The test was negative (second line barely visible). I had some stretchy EW mucus (sorry if TMI) today so I thought the test may be positive. Still a little early though. I cant get used to this short cycle. Im so used to Oing on day 15, it just all seems wrong.

Im feeling a little deflated as its so hard to do this gender swaying for a girl, I know its only cycle 1, but I feel like if I stop BDing now, I wont have a hope of falling PG this month. Sorry for the whinge.

Dont worry about whingeing DG, thats what we are here for. And something I have come to realize in here is that is no such thing as TMI.

Just hang in there, its hard to not stress about the whole thing when it is something you desperately want. The logical part of my brain says that there is no way i will get pg cos this is my very first cycle. but the emotional/hormonal/crazy/clucky me says if it doesn't happen I will soooo upset! Dumb, I know. but hey, what can you do?

AmandaJ - i will do my best to wait two weeks to test. i am mostly certain i Oed yesterday. But it has been more than 7 yrs since i last did a pg test. I hear there are some around now that are accurate from 10 DPO. But it will definately be before 2 feb cos i am going on a hol with 2 girlfriends and dont want to be uncertain when the first "happy hour" comes around.

    Myson, thanks for that.

When TTC my DS, I tested and got a positive HPT at 10 DPO, so its not to early, hopefully the same will happen for you. I used the brand 'First Response'.
