Jodsan. I think maybe day 20 too. I am getting sharp stabbing pains so waiting for a temp crash and af tomorrow or the next day i reckon. I hope. but dh home sunday and only for 5 days so .... hmmm... going to spike his dinner with something to get him sacked at the next random drug screen then he will be home all the time and we can dtd at the right time!!!! or am i being a bit extreme???? You sound like you've ticked as many 'ttc a girl' boxes as you can (with a sparkley pink gel pen) Hope its your turn!!!!

Mik. wow to the bub moving, that is so beautiful. i am glad you are so sure of what you want, re: finding out. I want to know this time, i never knew with the other two but i want more time to plan ahead for this bub. we are building a new house so i want to decorate the nursery (hopefully in blue!) But good on you for sticking to your guns.

Kimbaz having an orgasm just before him is best. but go for more if you can... the challenge for some is to keep the spontaneity going while ttc, GL.

Myson - I have to say your charts are so hard to predict. :wall: Have you done another POAS (last was 6 days ago yeah?)? If you did O day 16, there was still time to catch the egg and day 28 may have been too early to show up (only 12 dpo). Day 16 is still a possibility bc you CP was high for 2 days in a row???

I'm assuming DH works in the mines? Must be really hard with him gone for so long. My Dh was looking into it, not sure how I'd cope, I love having dinner together as a family every night. You must be a really strong girl and have a great relationship to make it work so well. Must be a bit of a pain for the whole TTC thing though (esp with your naughty cycle :doh:).

Thanks for your interest Jodsan. It has been tough but we are managing ok. DH gets long service leave in June, so that is keeping me sane at the moment. Counting down to the day when I get him all to myself for 3 whole months! My chart is pretty crazy, but I also had my flu-vax on Tuesday so that may account for todays weird rise. Unless you are right about day 16 and its going triphasic!!! Dont worry.. that thought had crossed my mind too. I was thinking I might do one more test on Sunday morning before DH is home and if thats neg, then I would most definately be out for this cycle. Then its a waiting game again after he leaves (if no AF shows up) Its like a never ending merry-go-round....

ok. so still no AF.... AND I was laying on the couch last night and I can smell dust in the couch, then i get in the shower and it smells sort of damp in the shower then i open the freezer and i can smell bait, which has been in there for three weeks (never smelt it before!) My house is pretty clean, not surgically sterile by any means, but i havent smelt all these things before. Especially all within a half hour period. hhhhhmmmmmmm! Did I ov on day 16 and the last test was too early?

Im almost hoping that the answer to that is no, cos that gives me a 5 day cut off.... is that awful of me?

Myson, NO, it's not awful, its just that it would throw out your plans. But apparently the New Zealand study showed that more boys were conceived 5 days before ovulation than girls (the info is on the O+12 website). Do the test I say!

But i thought the boy ones only average 3 day life span????? interesting...ok i will have a look... and test tomorow with fmu. Tanks for dat!

Yes I know, the theories all seem to refute each other. I do know that in the NZ study, they were told to only BD once in the month so that might make a difference? The general theory of male sperm live for 3 days and female sperm for 5 days may not be true at all. It may actually be that male sperm die in a more acidic environment, which is what you are usually dealing with 3-7 days before O. So if you are doing things to make yourself more alkaline overall, then maybe those little boy swimmers can live for longer than 3 days? SO I think what Shettles is actually saying is that that is the general rule, but it can be changed with diet. I have come to the conclusion that the diet/supplements is more important than the cut-off. We kept sperm count low by BDing every day and I took cranberry to try to make the environment more acidic, but didn't do the cut off - hoping that those things would circumvent the general rule. This theory also fits in with the O+12 theory, bc almost immediately after O the drop in estrogen causes CM to become thicker and more acidic, that's apparently why more girls are conceived 12 hrs after O. So, if we move forward on that basis, change your environment to either alkaline or acidic and BD when you can and should be enough to sway the odds (I think!!).

Does make sense when you put it that way. And I have been taking supplements and working on alkalinity for nearly 5 months now. So hopefully that is enough. Will test tomorow.

jodson, I see you are now in the TWW.. Good luck keeping busy. I've been trying so hard to not think about my cut off and the rest of it that comes with charting. FF gave me an O day on CD16 which puts me at 7DPO today, I ended up with a 3 day cut off so will have to wait and see what happens when I test.. Not feeling confident though because if you look at my chart my temps have been going down from 4DPO.:(

well suppose I better go do some housework, sister is coming tonight to watch the kids while we go out for my birthday..

Well it was BFN again and my chart is looking stranger still, full ferning and sticky cm?????

Myson - Sorry about your BFN, I hope Af or something happens soon so you know where you're at. At least DH will home tomorrow, make sure you have some fun together to take your mind of all the TTC stuff.

I can't believe it, I'm excited but a bit scared too.. My youngest son's genetic diagnosis is still up in the air so we are not entirely sure what the odds are of getting another child with the same syndrome yet, only time will tell I suppose.

Sorry to hear about your BFN Myson, hopefully something happens soon for you, like Jodsan said at least then you know where you are.

I hope the cut off worked, but mostly I just hope this baby arrives healthy! How is your TWW going Jodsan?

I'm sick as a dog with some awful tummy bug. DH and DS had it a bit last week but of course, I copped it really bad, was on the toilet all night (sorry tmi) and just feel drained and nauseous. At least it's taking my mind off TWW but I'm not confident of the embryo developing properly when I'm this sick, you'd think something might go wrong with the cells dividing and implantation with all these violent toilet sessions (really sorry tmi.

Thanks everyone, I'm pretty excited about it all. Had a Dr's appt today so I mentioned to him that I got a postive HPT yesterday and this morning and it was almost like he didn't believe that I could have one that early after ovulation. I suppose yesterday was only 8DPO but it's definately positive.. Anyway he sent me for a blood test at least - funny thing is he wrote on the request "early pregnancy?" He said he would ring only if the HCG levels weren't within the range he would expect, so I guess I just wait to not hear from him.. :lol:

Jodsan, sorry to hear you're not well. I hate being sick but I'm pretty lucky to not get ill often. My two boys were sick last week - coming from both ends IYKWIM? I absolutely hate vomit with a passion so I leave them with their father while I sleep in the loungeroom, anything else I can handle but not vomit. Hope you get better soon. :)

I wish i could fly over and give you hugs and rub baby germs all over you , so you can fall next month. I cannot imagine how frustrating it is for you, especially not to be able to talk to anyone. But that is what we are here for. So you air your worries as much as you like :hug:

I am not sure if your doing it or not, but take your Ural / Alkalzier right before you DTD and ask that hubby of yours to drink the caffine up too. I just think maybe the more alkaline your system is the better your chances are anytime. If your extra keen the Bi Carb Douch might help out too.

I agree with the environment rather than timing. (maybe it is both.. who really knows..)

Question for everyone... if you dtd at 10pm ish and you check your cm at noon the next day would there still be a risk of confusing cm with semen after that time??? Or is it all gone by then? I only ask cos my cm was quite watery and even a little bit ew, but is that me or him? Thanks for all the help and support everyone.

Myson - my thoughts are it could be either or a mixture. Apparently there is a water test, put it in a glass of water, semen will float and dissolve and EWCM will clump up and eventually sink. I have never tried it so I dont know. My thoughts are just check it every few hours, swirling your finger around your cervix to give you a better chance of getting CM rather than sperm. Another way of knowing is if your cervix is soft and open? My personal experience is that it is always open when EW is present.

I cant really tell the difference between open and closed. It always feels the same to me. I have had two kids and two m/c's needing d&c's so I think that must have some effect ???? but it always feels just slightly open ... i think... Thats why I dont record texture either (always feels same)... and position is my best guess. Thats why even that is not recorded every day. I am only recording it when i am absolutety certain.

its all a bit of a guessing game. Ov for me has never been an outstanding event that i can be sure of. but today i did have a full scope of thick black ferning...

And sundays temp was a bit out there! Had a big night on Sat, so i could possibly discard that one??

I am 18 weeks i was just reading up and i cannot believe that i m nearly 1/2 way, it feel like only yesterday that i shared the news with you ladies. :) That was weeks before my own family knew too !

Thanks everyone, I found out today that my blood test was positive aswell but my Dr still wants to see me again.. not sure why though?

Just a question for you all: Do you think I may be further along then I actually am? It's just that when I done my first HPT (First Response) on 8DPO it came up Positive almost instantly, then I just done another test about 1/2 hour ago and its heaps heaps dark (today would be 11DPO).. My period would normally be due tomorrow or the next day.

Guess what ! Looks like af is here. Just started spotting now... so i think DAY 1 tomorrow. Actually happy about it cos it means starting again. And this cycle was 40 days but the one before was 69 days, so hopefully my body is getting its act together after 6 years of contraception... yay for af (for now)

Found this quote online, hoping it also applies after contraception use ...gives me hope.. Last lp was maybe 9 days and this one maybe 10 days... still all very uncertain but hoping for increased understanding ( and a longer lp) by next cycle.

I'm not going to start TTC#2 for about 6 months but I'm keen to read up on it all now.

I have a perfect little princess and I'd be more than thrilled to have 2 princesses but hey, i figure there's no harm in trying a few things to see if it increases my chances of ending up with a pidgeon pair :D

Hi Charlismumma, welcome and i hope it works for you. I havent bought any books but i have spent hours googling. There are many different methods so maybe figure out which you would suit most and have the most faith in and then look for a book or further info after that. try "gender selection" .... GL.

Sym, you probably ovulated a couple of days early. Did you end up doing the lunar calculation at Lunarium? If you are BDing a lot around your lunar time it can cause spontaneous ovulation. But apparently the hormones still go through the normal cycle, hence positive OPK and you may or may not release a second egg (so could be twins that would measure at different dates!). Would be worth checking when your lunar O was supposed to be. Did you feel any O pains earlier than you expected to? That's what happened to me last month, I O'd on my lunar time, that's why I was worried I hadn't O'd at O time (had no pains) and then my period ended up 5 days early which confirmed that the pain I felt at lunar time must have been O.

Charlismumma - if you read back through all of the gender swaying threads, you'll probably find just about all the info you need for TTC boy. Good luck, hope when you start TTC you dont have to wait to long!

Myson - Yey about AF (kinda!?!). Do you always have only a 9 day luteal phase?

Mik - So glad it is all going well for you, I reckon its really exciting when you are showing so much that you cant fit into your pants! Pg is the best feeling in the world! Keep us informed.

Me - Well 9dpo - really thinking about testing tomorrow. I'm not having any PMS symptoms (I've had really bad PMS last few months since mc), they usually start at 7dpo, so hopeful. Have had a tiny bit of cramping, feels kinda like O pains. Have a bit of a warm fuzzy feeling too. Lots of dreams too. We'll see.

Sounds exciting Jodsan. Could be your month.

I have had a 9 LP last one and a 10LP this one. Previous to that I didnt even know what LP was!!!!! I dont think LP had been invented last time i was ttc ... neither had the internet... :lol:

thinking of taking a bit extra B6. (there is only 750 ug in my vitamins) to help lengthen my LP a bit more... What do you think Doctor Jods? ;)

ps. DH not impressed with the timing of AF :doh:

Myson - Yeah, they all say B6 to lenghten LP. Another thing I recall reading is that Clomid also lengthens LP. I think the reason is that it stimulates more follicles so more progesterone is released and therefore, LP is longer. But there is always the risk of hyperovulation. You really do need to see that Dr, you need to get the cycles in line! At least it is getting shorter though.

I did do the Lunarium calculator and it gave me the 31st March, I had EWCM at that time and we did a bit of BDing, the only thing was that the OPK was negative.. It also said we would conceive a girl this cycle - which is really exciting to me!!

I suppose I will just have to wait and see what the Doc says on Monday morning. It's weird though because when I was Pg with both my boys I usually had sore boobs by this stage but nothing yet.

I had twin uncles on my dads side, my brother has twin daughters and my partner has triplets on his dads side (unidentical).. So yes Myson if I get twins you can have the boy (if there is one) :lol::lol: As long as I get the girl I'm all good!

So funny you should all mention about twins, because when I first told my 4 year old that we are going to have a baby his response was "Ohhh you can have two little girls in there and they will have to squeeze out of the little hole like chickens" :cryinglaugh: Where he comes up with this stuff just amazes me!!

Sym - I think you must have O'd at lunar time, sounds right as far as when you got your positive test. You usually inherit the twin gene from your mother's side however, you can inherit it from your father if it was his mother that had the twins? It would then be in his genes and although he wouldn't create twins himself, he can pass it down to his daughter. The twin gene is not actually a twin gene, rather a hyperovulation gene, so only girls can create twins from it. So your brothers twins must have either been created from his wife having the hyperovulation gene, or her being older when having a baby (we tend to hyperovulate as we get older) or through her taking clomid which also causes hyperovulation or her Oing twice in one cycle (ie: lunar time too). I've looked it up bc my brother was a twin (the other didn't survive) and my grandmother was a twin (again, the other didn't survive) so my mother and gm are definately hyperovulators.

DG - so good to hear from you, sorry the ms has been so bad, how many weeks are you? Oh can see you are 7.5, only 4 or so more weeks of it, then it should get better.

AFM - had the faintest, faintest, faintest line on the HPT this morning, think its positive but will know more over the next couple of days.

Diamond Girl, Thanks. I worked out that I'm 4 weeks pregnant from LMP so I have a long way to go. I hope I don't end up with morning sickness, my sister had it from start to finish (including labour) when she was pregnant with her daughter! It's prbably the thing that freaks me out most. (ms that is)

Jodsan, How exciting!! :clap: I was getting the faintest of lines on Internet Cheapies so I went and got myself some First Response sticks and that's the one that came up positive straight away at 8Dpo.. I even done another one this morning just for the fun of it - Positive of course. AF would have been due yesterday so I wanted to see what the line looked like on the test today. Nice and dark!

Also, for the fun of it I dangled my ring on a string over my stomach and it started to make circles!! When I was pregnant with my last son it just swung from side to side. I know it's just an old wives tale but it amuses me! :lol:

Sym - Yeah, I intend to keep testing for a week or so to ensure the line gets darker, bit nervous after the mc in Jan. Good to hear that the line is nice and dark! I haven't seen First Response in any of the chemists I've been to, I might try a different chemist this arvo and see if I can get one to try in the morning. Everyone says they are the best.

Myson - I've got 3 Crystal Clear tests left, so I thought I'd just test everyday and if its dark enough by Monday I'll call the doctor. Oh, you want twins, are you crazy! I'm really not sure about the twins idea, really scares me actually with the family history. Can you imagine the extra work! I bet they'd wake up at different times too, it'd be continous feeding in an almost hypnotic state. But, maybe with two baby bonuses you could afford a nanny for the first coupe of months ;)

Very lucky me has "young for their age" parents, living right next door (well, a couple of km's away actually, but still neighbours) they are very clucky, like me, but they have no idea that we are even ttc. They are not expecting any more grandkids, and they dont have any grandsons, so if i manage to pull this off I will probably have them bashing down the door, wanting to babysit. They already show up and abduct my two DD's at regular intervals.

Going to have to think of a very cool, very memorable way to break the news when/if it happens.
