wanting to try for a baby this week (sorry if this is posted in the wrong place)
not sure is this is where i am ment to post this so i am very sorry if this is in the wrong thread
Hello, wanting to try for a baby this week i have just come off the pill i finished the packet and now going to try so is there any tips or hints u can help me with or tell us so we know we want to do this the right way ?
Welcome to BB!
Well first off, if you've just come off the pill your cycle might be out of whack for a while so it might be helpful if you chart so you know what you're body is doing...
Hopefully someone more helpful will pop in and give you some advice
Good luck with TTC
It's exciting when you make that decision to TTC. We decided a couple of months ago to start trying for our first. I'm what is considered an 'older' person TTC and I also had been on BCP's for 18 years. I waited 1 month before TTC and in that month I changed my diet and cut out (I'm a little fanatical) all alcohol and coffee and started to take Folic Acid (very important). I wanted to give my 'old body' the best chance of TTC quickly.
My DP has also limited his alcohol intake and the steaming hot baths that he used to take every night. (Alcohol changes the makeup of sperm and raising body temps to over 38 degrees C is harmful to sperm).
As Nella said it's also worthwhile charting your temps each day. I also invested in an OPK (Ovulation Predictor Kit) to give myself every chance of getting it right.
This is my 2nd month TTC but my first month after making all the above changes.
With DD I went off of the pill and got my period once, then we started BD every couple of days until we got a BFP the following month, hopefully you have the same luck.
I suggest that you begin charting if you want to give it the best chance, google fertility friend, this is where you can chart your cycles. I have not needed to chart as yet so I do not know alot about it, but there are alot of ladies that know all the ins and outs if you want to know more I am sure there will be someone happy to help.
Otherwise they say that if you BD every second day from the last day of your period up until either your next period or hopefully a BFP.
Hello thank u so much every one for all ur helpful posts
i have tryed other sites and they have been rude and had a go at us calling us kids for askin questions like the one i just asked we are not kids at all we know what we want and we are happy so thank u so much for everything also we feel alittle stupid coz we are not sure what ttc means and db and some others do u have a list u can post up for me please sorry ima nobie haha
i recommend getting on some pregnancy vitamins (mostly for the folate), this helps give you a good start on having a healthy bub when you do fall pregnant...
Hi lilbooties! Welcome to BB!!!
Def start taking folic acid - it reduces the risk of spina bifida. Other than that, basically just be kind to your body, and get lots of BD (Baby Dancing ).
Hope your TTC journey is quick, and we can share your pregnancy journey with you!
You'll find loads of support here at BB. Everyone is lovely, and if you have ANY questions, just ask because there is more than likely someone who knows the answer - no matter how much info it might be, or how embarrassing!
Hello yeah its good to have suport on here
other sites just dont give u as much and they dont much care btu i deffenently will share it with u guys all the way throo ttc

Congratulations on your decision to TTC. I agree with the other girls. Basically start folic acid or a good pregnancy multivite and start BDing Goodluck. Hope your TTC journey is a short and sweet one. Lots of babydust.

Hi Lilbooties and welcome to BB!!
If you are old enough to get married then you are old enough to have a bubba- so don't worry about what people say! Besides, youth will work in your favour when trying to conceive (TTC!!)
Check out my rather long post in the General Conception Forum titled 'Natural Conception Advice' - it may be quite far down the page. It contains heaps of advice about increasing your chances of trying to conceive naturally.
I also recommend what others have said above- you will need to start monitoring your cycles, so you know when you are ovulating (when you are fertile). Incase you weren't sure, the first day of your period is day 1 of your cycle, and ovulation usually occurs on or around day 14- so DTD (doing the deed) from about day 11 to day 15 is recommended. Don't do it too much though- as this will wear you out and it lowers the sperm quality. Doing the deed twice in that 4-5 day period is recommended- with at least a 1 day break in between!! Observing your CM (cervical mucous) on a daily basis will also give you an indication of when you are ovulating. When your CM changes from thick/whitish to clear, watery and runny (like raw clear egg white in a freshly cracked egg)- then you know you are ovulating and at your most fertile time. There are also kits available at the chemist which involve taking your temperature, to indicate when you are most fertile.
Best of luck!!
