I will start off by saying that this thread will be talking about Mucus.... if you cannot handle that do not read any further.


I have had a very good look at the My Beautiful cervix thing and to be honest I have never really paid that close attention to the mucus.
I have only just starting using the FF chart and have some oracle fertility OPK, but I have used them before and never had much lock, infact I have never had a positive test ... EVER.
Excluding this last cycle (coz we MC'd) my previous two have been approx 30/31 days therefore O would be approx days 16 or 17?

Is there a better time of day or WHEN exactly do you test the mucus?

do you just - TMI - stick your finger in? or when your on the loo and you wipe and there is stuff there, do you examin that?

I have no idea really.

I want to get as close to O as possible as I hope to sway for a little boy blue. I fwe have another girl then so be it but IF I can help just a wee bit then thats what we are doing.

I mainly examined mine in my knickers or on the loo paper but the month we conceived DD I did stick my fingers up there as I was checking my cervix too. I would never have thought I'd be doing that one day

I didn't experience a lot of EWCM, mine was more watery - maybe a bit sticky. The month we conceived we had used Preseed so that *may* have helped. I also used Clear Blue Digital OPKs as you get a little smiley face when it's the right time to DTD - easy I just ordered a pack of 20 from eBay (from the UK) which comes with 10 strip HPTs for $60 including postage. They digital OPKs are $70 for 7 tests in pharmacies here so much cheaper online. They rock though and I'd highly recommend them.

I generally have a 28 day cycle (besides last month which was plain retarded, as you know!) and I O'd on CD16 the month we conceived.

When you start to pay attention, you'll be surprised. Generally I can tell by a knicker check or on the paper.

Never done OPKs though.

I never put my fingers up there for mucous, but did to feel my cervix etc. I was always able to see when I had 'plenty' of mucous just by checking my knickies or the toilet paper, like Taurean said. Mine would get very egg-whitey/creamy during what I suspected was my O-time, but TBH ive never used an OPK or anything, its always just been in the middle of my 28 day cycle. Lucky I guess.

Hi naenae, before I was educated by bb and ff I always thought that I was having an infection down there like thrust everytime I got ewcm.

now that im charting, I know more, althoguh I have never experienced ewcm ever since we decided to ttc which was a year ago.

I am also on clmoid so apparently that dries you up.

Anyway I use the clearblue fertility monitor to check if im ovulating or not coz I dontm think I can trust myself to dtermine if I am or not.

hmmmmmmm ok this will definately be TMI ......



today when I wiped and checked the paper it was kinda stretchy and kinda creamyish defiantely a big glob of it I am on CD 11. BUT when I stuck by finger in it wasn't super slippery or wet ITMS

I also usually get crampy around O time But I really do not know, I think there needs to be a photographed My Marvelous Mucus thread

cycle day 11, perhaps this is is prime spermie time Nae? Especially if there's stretchy mucous there to catch them!

I am too scared to DTD without getting a positive result on my OPK's I am really really hoping to get super close to O so we can help the little boy swimmers find the egg before the girls do. If it sticks when we get UTD it will be my last pregnancy Dh has already said only two

ETA ~ so if its on your undies, how can you tell whats what? it all looks kinda dry and flakey to me

Hun it sounds like you are super close to ovulation. The EWCM is a big sign. I would get to it! LOL

Seriously though even if you dont ovulate for a day or two or three there is still a great chance of conceiving a girl.

nae we dtd on cd 19(32day cycle) and we're having a boy. we only dtd that one day the whole month.
we dtd on cd 17,18,20,21 and got izzy.
so im guessing day 18 would be good for u. if ur cycles are regular id go by the day, not ur cm.

also wanting to know how to do a cervix check, i try feel for it but it feels like a never ending cave!

My bat cave must be a bit smaller at times

When checking my cervix TTC DD, I used my middle finger but there were times when a bit more finger length wouldn't have gone astray. PMSL.

I can't remember exactly what the fertile signs are for your cervix (Fertility Friend has some good info) but it's good to note when your cervix is high (so untouchable would be high!), soft, low, firm, closed and open. I might have this wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that your cervix feels a bit like a head of a penis (man I hope I just didn't make that up!!!) and when it's 'open' you can feel a teeny, tiny opening and the whole thing is sort of rounded - sometimes soft and squishy, sometimes firm. Maybe that was my analogy after feeling it. Going off to hide now!
