When checking my cervix TTC DD, I used my middle finger but there were times when a bit more finger length wouldn't have gone astray. PMSL.
I can't remember exactly what the fertile signs are for your cervix (Fertility Friend has some good info) but it's good to note when your cervix is high (so untouchable would be high!), soft, low, firm, closed and open. I might have this wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that your cervix feels a bit like a head of a penis (man I hope I just didn't make that up!!!) and when it's 'open' you can feel a teeny, tiny opening and the whole thing is sort of rounded - sometimes soft and squishy, sometimes firm. Maybe that was my analogy after feeling it. Going off to hide now!
Taurean - if you watch 'my beautiful cervix' it looks like a penis! lol
Nae - I would say you are close to O. Your LP must be a little longer than the norm if your AF is about CD 30/31...Generally speaking you will O 14 days prior to AF.... If you are checking your cervix, you should do it at the same time each day. I don't get EWCM (due to annovulatory cycles & clomid etc...) but I remember once I did & it was like a big blob of clear, stretchy mucous after I wiped....Have you looked at the 'billings method' - that may help you too :-)
Nae - you may be getting close. Are you temping or using OPKs? Temping helps to give you an idea of when you normally O over a few months. It will also give you an idea of when your LP is. eg, my LP is normally 10-11 days, it's different for everyone. Sometimes you can get a temp drop the day before or day of O, but I wouldn't rely on it.
OPKs are funny things. I use the forelife ones - it's about $24 for 7 at the chemist. Again, everyone is different and it seems every cyle is different too.
The stretchy CM is good. It can be clear like eggwhite or white. EWCM is not normally sticky, more slimy. You should be able to stretch it about an inch or more. You may not get much all day but then get a big blob after doing a BM. Something to keep you occupied - playing with panty goo

I am not temping, I was planning on doing that but it said to do it first thing int he morning before getting up with no less than 3hrs of rest.
DD's sleep is still a little all over the shop so to get it just right would be too hard, also I am likely to forget and rush out of bed to go and pee.
I have been crampy today so might talk to Dh about DTD tomorrow.
FWIW I haven't had any more panty goop or stuff on the loo paper so I have NO friggin idea. I have also been poas 3 times a day just to make sure I get something
Naenae, I don't have enough cm to do the panty check lol, so I use my index or middle finger and insert, give it a wiggle and whatever is on my finger, is my cm lol. I check my cervix at the same time, you are looking for it to be high soft and open as a sign that you are most likely fertile
