Question Will we ever get this TTC off the ground?

    OKAY.

So this month was not to be it. DH not "up" to the task when the timing was right.
and this next month - guess what - oh yes, DH will not even be in the country!!!!
Came home last night to tell me that he has to go to Singapore for work and yep, when does he have to go. YES - you guessed it - right at the optimal time for my cycle!!! AARRRHHH!!!

WELL, WHAT WOULD YOU LADIES DO????

Option 1 - Leave the country and leave the kids at grandmas and grandpas at go and have a few hot nights with DH in Singapore IFKWIM - telling your parents you and DH really need a break!!! (well, it is true that we have not had a proper holiday for a very long time!!!!)

Option 2 - forget about it this month!!! (yes, there will be the month after and the month after that, but hey - I am no spring chicken and he is even less of one!!!! so, we really need to get cracking)

Option 3 - can anyone tell me if there are any other options?
(so, how long do they survive in the freezer????????)

Will we ever get this TTC#3 thing off the ground???????

    WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Oh Gidget, you poor thing, there's always so much pressure isnt there? and the longer it takes to conceive the more there is. I've never tried to freeze sperm but i did get a good laugh!
I did find this on the internet for you though

"Please can you tell me if freezing sperm at home is an option, how it is best stored, and for how long and at what temperatures sperm is active?

    Answer

Sorry, but I feel it would be crazy to attempt any kind of 'home freezing' of seminal fluid.

If something went wrong (which is quite likely), the possibility is that you could damage the sperms.

What if you then ended up with an abnormal baby? I think you should let a private artificial insemination clinic do the freezing and transfer for you. The cost would not be very great, and at least the job would be done professionally.

    Yours sincerely

    The Medical Team"
My vote if for one of the other options.lol
    Good Luck

    Any more ideas????????????

Thanks for finding that info Mrs B26. I find if I don't keep a sense of humour about this TTC thing I am going to go completely batty. We all need a good laugh!!!

Seriously though, leaning more towards option 2 ATM. Never left the kids overnight before and DD is at that age where she is starting to become a springboard at bedtime. Plus after a few days at grandmas, I know they will be a bit unbearable when they get home - more in your face and demanding after having 2 old people absolutely doting on them.

Can't say I wouldn't like a break. Option 1 wouldn't actually cost much because we have some credit points to use for the fare, free accomodation and food is cheap in singapore, and yes, I can get enjoyment out of window shopping (yeah, right!!!). DH will be exhausted by long days and schmoozing with clients. He kinda likes the idea of not telling his colleagues or clients that I am there, and sneaking around - a little bit of extra spice IYKWIM. (We will have to arrive separately anyway as I am unlikley to be able to get a good flight using points.)

Other options I am considering are mediating in a dark room for an hour every morning and night, channelling positive energy to make the little eggy pop out a little earlier so we can DTD before DH flies out. Well, you never know.

[Seriously though, we had a lot of trouble concieving number 2 and drs pushing us into fertility treatment. We both decided long ago that this stress would be too much for us and we won't go down this path if it does not just happen. I really admire the strength of those who can.]

WISHING YOU LUCK FOR THE BFP!!!!!!!!!!!

A holiday does sound great but not if you are constantly worried about what the kids are going to be like when you get back - that kind of defeats the relaxation (ttc) purpose!!
Although if this is your lucky month you may not be able to get away again for a bit with 3 little buggers in tow...........
Good Luck and let us know what you decide
Oh and my dh thought i was losing my mind when i started googling diy freezing sperm

Thanks Mrs B26. It made me laugh thinking of the look of horror on your dh's face when he saw you googling freezing sperm. Must have been really worried about his little men.

Have decided to take option 2 and stay with feet firmly on the ground and leave the TTC for this month. Couldn't get a decent flight, would have had to leave a day earlier or later than dh and then come back a day earlier and then wouldn't really have that much time in Singapore, or anything else really!!!!!!

In the meantime I will keep up with my other option 3, i.e. the mediating (not the sperm freezing), unless anyone else comes up with a better idea!!!!

Thanks Mrs B26. Fingers crossed for nothing going wrong this month, the 3rd official month of TTC!!

I just had a giggle at how p*ssed off I was when DH told me he was going o/s and then I actually O'd early!!!!!!!!! Geez - the body does some strange but wonderful things at times!! Unfortunate timing with the thrush though!!!! So, I guess it wasn't meant to be this month anyway!!!!!

Thanks babi_gurl. I didn't end-up going o/s with DH. Stayed at home with the kids - then ironically I O'd early when DH was still home but it still wasn't our month . I ended up with thrush right at the critical O time and we couldn't DTD! Funny - uh!!!!

Ironically, DH told me on the weekend that he might have to go interstate in August - and yep, when will that be??? - right at the critical O time AGAIN! So I might have this issue all over again!

    Oh Gidget, your poor dear
It's so unfair sometimes, We have been ttc for 11 months and for the first time ever my dh is away over o time (boys trip) so when i calculated it i was so upset. In the end my lap was schedualed during this cycle anyway so no need to ttc this month but i know exactly how you must be feeling. Dont stress, hopefully he wont have to go and you can finally start ttc. All the best for you hun

    Hi MrsB26,

I that this month will be THE month and I won't need to worry about DH going away in August. Sometimes I feel that there is something in the stars working against us - this journey has been frustrating so far! Thanks for the I don't know the exact details yet in terms of how long he will be away and whether I could possibly go with him - at least it is within Australia this time, so it might be easier to get a flight! We'll see! Sometimes I wish that home sperm freezing really was a viable option.

Hope your DH enjoyed the time away - after 11 months of TTC - did he enjoy the break? I wish they would ask first about suitable dates sometimes. I don't know how DH's boss would react about scheduling work committments around my cycle!

Hope the lap went well! and that a BFP comes your way soon.

    GIDGET
