Question woke up 2day with cramps

    Hello

I woke up today with cramps. My instant thought was "oh bugger this must be my period coming i guess im not pregnant"

So I checked mycycle.com to confirm when my next period is due and it turns out my next period isn't due til around 17th June! (I get period cramps on the day of my periods so the cramps I have today are obviously something else.)

According to mycycle.com .....I ovulated 3rd June. My last period was 9-12 May. Hubby and I have been TTC every second day.

I have a pregnancy test here at home. The instructions say that it is most accurate when you use it closest to your period due date. Seeing as my period isn't due til 17 June, I figured I better wait, right?? Or can I do a preg test now??

I can't help but wonder...is it possible I'm pregnant?? (I hope and pray that I am)

Edit: ok now I am totally confused!?! Just went to the toilet (sorry if this is TMI) and there was a little blood. huh?? my period NEVER comes early. In fact, my period often comes late. (My period isn't due til 17 June). I'm confused. I don't understand what's going on. Should I go to the Dr? Could it be implantation spotting??

    Welcome to BellyBelly.

It's possible you are experiencing implantation cramps. It would be too early to take a pregnancy test - if you are certain you ovulated on 3rd of June, that makes you only 5 days past ovulation (or 5dpo) (Implantation usually occurs about 7-11 dpo.) Pregnancy tests are only reliable at 14 dpo but people here have had positives from 7 or 8 dpo with sensitive tests.

    Good luck!

Jala when did your cycle start? what cycle day are you on?
MyCycle :: Free Online Ovulation Calculator, Ovulation Calendar, Fertile Days, Fertility, Menstrual Calendar, Reminders

i hope the link above will work it shows my cycles.

umm... is the first day of my cycle the last time i had a period?

my last period was 9-12th May.

according to mycycle.com my next period is due 17th June.

    mycycle.com tells me i ovulated 3rd June.

does that help? im not sure what day cycle im on coz i dont know when to start counting from.

ugh i hope this doesnt mean my period has come early and im not pregnant after all

    Hi Jala,

That link just shows the homepage, not your own cycle.

You count the first day of your period as CD1 (cycle day 1).

This means (by my calculations), you are on CD31 today and (according to mycycle) you ovulated on CD26. If AF is not due until 17 June, that would give you a cycle length of 40 days.

I guess it depends how longyour cycles normally are? If you have longer cycles then it may not be AF but if your cycle is normally around 30-32 days then it could be AF.

Yes, how long are your cycles usually? My cycle started about the same time as yours - on 10 May - and I am expecting AF today. If you are on CD31 I would think it more likely it's AF.

CD26 seems awfully late to ovulate - how does mycycle calculate your ovulation date? Are you charting and checking cervical mucous? I am not familiar with mycycle, Fertility Friend is what most of us use here.

yeah 40 day cycles is pretty much what i have my periods aren't very close together like the usual 28 days.

my cycle calculates yr ovulation date after you have typed in the days you had yr last period.

the more periods you chart on my cycle, the more accurate O day is.

Oh I see, then CD26 would be about the day you'd ovulate if you've got an average luteal phase of 14 days.

Do you chart and check your CM? It's the best way to find out what's happening in your cycle. I wouldn't trust a website on its own.

    Question

What would make my period come early??

These are the periods I've had so far this year 2008:

    January 26-31
    February 25-29
    May 9-12

    then bleeding today

my periods are irregular - they certainly aren't the typical 28 day cycle!

thats why its strange that im bleeding today.

just googled "implantation bleeding" and various different sites say that implantation bleeding consists of only a drop or two of blood.

what im experiencing today isn't heavy - but its certainly more than a drop. so im assuming this is my period and for some weird reason it's decided to come early!

does TTC affect periods? i wonder if TTC frequently affects my cycle at all?

P.S. - SallyJ, ive started to read up about charting my CM but at this stage no i have not. CM is all new to me! i am using "maybe baby" - its a saliva ovulation predictor kit. i bought it from the chemish for about $80. So i use maybe baby together with my cycle.

Hmm. I have not used Maybe Baby but some women here have had variable results with it. Taking your temp every morning and checking your CM every day is really the most reliable method of tracking your cycle. Fertility Friend has heaps of info too. Also at the top of the Charting section of this site you'll see a link to "My Beautiful Cervix", this has pictures of the cervix and CM throughout someone's cycle.

So going on the dates you've given me, so far this year you've had

    1) a 29 day cycle starting 26 January
    2) a 44 day cycle starting 26 February
    3) currently on CD of this cycle which started 9 May

Had you come off birth control (the Pill, Provera) before ttc? That can really mess with your cycle.

TTC should not interfere with your cycle at all, though we often become more aware of our cycle when we are ttc.

nope ive never been on the pill. the only birth control ive ever used was Implanon and that was only for the first 12mths of marriage. i got it taken out after that.

my periods have always been irregular since i first got them in my teens.

    Some women are just irregular.

There's a great book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Wechsler which explains how our cycles work and how they change.

So did you have any more bleeding? Maybe it was an implantation bleed.

    Hi jala

I'd say wait until closer to your period due date before testing.

Even the sensitive tests are only accurate for like 50% of women 5 days before your missed period. The percentage increases every day closer to the missed period, til 99% accurate on the day of your missed period (which I think is a funny way to look at it - how do you know your period is missed until it is missed? Anyway...).

Having said that, my sister took a test at home on the day of her missed period and it was negative.

Each woman is different and no one will be able to tell you exactly!

Good luck with the countdown to June 17th

    Hi Jala,

Have you thought about getting a BT? They're covered by medicare and it could show a before you took the home test.

    Just a though.

All the best, special your way!
