Thumbs up Aldi coffee machines: new Woollies coffee pods fit!

    Hi all,

Thought I would share the breaking news - for those of us with Aldi coffee machines but no ongoing supply chain - that the new Woollies (Caffitaly) coffee pods are compatible with the Aldi machines.

Apparently there is a range of Gloria Jeans coffee pods on sale at Woollies that also fit. Haven't tried any of those yet but it all adds variety to the coffees available.

So, a round-up list of coffee pods that work in the Aldi machines (but apparently not vice-versa due to design differences in the machines):

    Aldi Espressi
    Woolworths/Caffitaly
    Gloria Jeans
    MAP
    Lavazza Blue

If anyone else who has an Aldi machine can add any other coffee pod insights/intel/chatter, it would be appreciated.

I have tried the MAP pods in our machine and although they fit i found they would not always work properly so i just stuck to the Aldi pods. I might give some of the others a go though

I should add a disclaimer that this is all based on online research, the only ones we've actually tried are Woollies select (and their machine is a Caffitaly brand from what I've read) and the Aldi ones.

Phoenix, I think Lavazza blue might be one of the brands you can get at Harvey Norms (?) - again, based on research not actual experience.

Westy, I'm glad you said that about the MAP ones because I'd read that online (something about them leaving grinds in your cup, the filter being in a different place??)

Would love to hear from everyone what sort they've used in their Aldi machine and how well they worked (or not).

Thanks for this thread! I love GJs coffee and was hoping they'd fit!

I use the MAP pods all the time in mine and never had any problems. And the MAP decaf pods are the bomb IMO!

Now I just need to get rid of the 4 packets of Aldi pods I bought today to make room for the GJs hehehe

FYI - if for any reason your Aldi machine breaks, using other pods may void warranty.

I have always used the MAP coffee pods in my machine and never ever had a problem. I'm looking forward to trying the Gloria Jeans pods.

Aldi coffee machines: new Woollies coffee pods fit!

Hi girls I was chatting to a customer on sat ( I'm a hairdresser) about this as she works for Woolworths under the coffee tin food section and she said they have specifically designed the pods to fit Aldi machines to break into the market as well as the price of pods and their machine is same price to compete with Aldi.

I bought a nespresso pod machine which is so hard to get pods to fit i have to get them online and have been searching for somewhere that sells them, I really wish I had an Aldi one even tempted to sell this and get one

Wow that's very interesting. Glad though because it has solved my coffee pod supply problem since there's no Aldi's in SA.

Oh yay! We brought an ALdi machine on the weekend, and I am not really loving any of the pods yet (brought a trial pack of mixed pods), although DH does, so I might try some of the Woolies ones! Thanks for posting

Thanks so much for that. I love Lavazza coffee and was considering getting one of their machines just for that. But now that I know that they fit the Aldi machines well I will go back to my original plan and look at buying an Aldi one.

Although I must say that I have Nespresso lust, they have just started stocking them in my local whitegoods store and they are soo cute (but I don't love there price tag)

Megs, check the actual pod shapes before you purchase. I saw some lavazza ones the other day and I didn't think they would be compatible with the Aldi ones at all. Unless they have different pods for different machines?
