Thanks for that Lucy. At the moment I think I'm leaning towards a kenwood.
Mum got a kenwood mixmaster when she got married in 1968 and not only was it still going strong up until the day she died (probably still is) but when she decided she wanted to make home-made sausages in the 80's she contacted the company and they sold her a new accesory that fitted her 20 year old machine.

I think you save money by buying better quality kitchen equipment. If you buy cheapies you just have to replace them sooner which ends up costing more over time.
