I'm really getting into the swing of eating breakfast, usually crackers with hummous and sliced ham or something like that. Have not been to the gym at all this week so am not hopeful of any weight loss, but to make up for it I am wearing a dress that used to be a favourite of mine but I haven't fitted into in years. Thankfully it is back in fashion again considering I bought it in 1997! :D
-
Have a nice trip ZF!
Today, off for another walk, yay! Beautiful day again out there for us Melbournians! Last night I went over the myfitnesspal calorie recommendation, but oh well. It was our movie night and we had half a bag of chips and some clinkers. But normally we devour an entire bag of chips, so yay, could've been worse. I was over by about 100 calories, so I'm not too fussed. I don't know if I've lost weight or not, but I wish I didn't think about it all the time. I tried on a pair of pants this morning that have never fit me and normally have never been able to get them up over my thighs, but this morning, I got them all the way up, but the button didn't do up by about a centremetre. So some progress there!! Have a great weekend everyone!
-
Only 100 calories over your recommended level is great, remember you will still lose weight at that level! Well done on almost fitting the trousers too, personally I see clothing as a better indicator of how well you are doing than the scales as your clothes also reflect how toned you are becoming :D
-
Thanks Traveller! I put on the pants, willing myself not to, knowing there would be disappointment because the scales haven't budged, so I was a nice surprise!
Back from my walk, did the 4kms in 45 minutes today, whoop! Now off to buy my beagle a decent collar and lead that she can't escape from so I can take my dogs walking too.
-
YAY PRMG - well done on the pants and well done on the dresse Traveller.
Well we had a nice long trip down yesterday with 2 kids and a trailer wth LOTS of tracffic right before the burnley cos of some idiot didn't check the height restrictions, so we were banked up to the bolte bridge but we got through and stoped half way to feed Z and get A something to eat.
Got A a happy meal and left  didn't buy anything for myself.
Am taking my lil bro's for a walk around the local market today then if the weather is ok will walk them to school of a mornng aswell as hopefully walking the girls to the park regularly.
-
morning everyone :hello:
Traveller I remember many of a dinner being hummous, crackers and red wine back in my younger day lol and that was probably all I had in the fridge for breakfast many time too (bar the red wine) I never used to eat breakfast as a child and can't remember mum trying to make me either? But as an adult I started to eat it and now I am nearly chewing my arm off when I get out of bed and it's the 1st thing on my mind. Have to giggle about the dress being back in fashion, I swear if you keep everything one day you will wear it again! I remember walking past a shop a couple of years ago and seeing a dress exactly the same as one that was in our dress up box as a kid! It was my mums when she was a teenager lol Congrats on fitting into it again, it's one of the BEST feelings in the world
PacRak when I used to calorie count I averaged out eh calories at he end of the week and always came in pretty close to the mark so 100cals over one day is nothing to worry about. Do you take off cals for the exercise you do? You must almost be jogging covering 4km's in 45 mins well done.
ZF sounds like you are already having an active holiday and well done on maccas. I haven't eaten maccas for maybe 5 years with the exception of maybe 2 soft serves... But last week we were driving past and dh said "how about a soft serve" I was really surprised and said "YES" then we looked around and neither of us had any cash so missed out :o buggar hey lol
AFM well I had a pretty good day yesterday. My 2nd day alone with bub while dh was at work and it went well. I managed to go for a 25min walk around the botanical gardens which are 3 km's down the road. I walked relatively fast, not a dordal anyway. Bub was asleep when I got back so I kept going with some house work. Then during another nap I managed to have a spa HEAVEN as my body has been so sore lifting the little one and I put the massage chair onto my office chair and have been having that on whenever I sit down there (like now) so that is feeling great too. My food is going well, it was the best decision to do JC and not have to worry about cooking as such or what I'm going to eat plus I've lost 900 grams already YAY
-
ZF - YAY for resisting Maccas!!!!! Well done! That drive sucks and I can imagine at that point, it was probably all you wanted, good on you!
Cherished1 - I rekon in the early days of having a baby, the best gift you can give yourself is to not have to fuss over cooking, but by eating healthy too, well done! I remember when DD was born, when she had her afternoon sleep, I'd set up my slow cooker, so I didn't have to hassle at arsenic hour! Well done for losing the 900g! Yep, my walk was FAST, but once I got into the rhythm, I just got into it and really enjoyed it.
Topped it off last night with a second walk, just under 2ks. I got my beagle properly fitted for a decent lead so took them for a walk last night, and it was bliss! She couldn't pull - if she pulls it makes her sit - and whenever she stopped the lead tugged her along quick smart. Yay! Might even be able to get them out with the pram! Today we walked around the Whittlesea Show for about an hour and a half, just a stroll really, but better than nothing.
-
cherished1 - NO MACCA's in 5 yrs.. WTF??
I dont have it often but it's normally the 1 thing we get on the way down so i was VERY pleased, we are having Macca's tues night as my lil brothers get it EVERY tuesday.. so i will get a salad and maybe a mcchicken instead of big mac n chips etc.
PRMG - how was the show? any good?
Today we went to see my nan, went to the market and walked around but we fond it pretty boring so we went and met my brother and a friend at the park near the lake, so we had some chips .. i ate less than i normally would then we took all the kids (6 in total) around the lake to look at the ducks.
Tomorrow i will walk the boys to school then hoping to see a friend so will walk the girls to the park :)
-
ZF - The show was great, but OMG the traffic!!!! Yesterday I had to go to Donnybrook Rd, not far from me, and I got caught in a traffic jam. So we went early this morning, got to the show at 9.30am and when we left the line of cars went all the way from Whittlesea to the outskirts of Mernda. Unbelievable.
Just back from a 4km walk with the dogs. Actually got DD to bed early (7.15!!!!!) so took off. I'm tired, but the motivation was there - weigh in tomorrow!!
-
Well done on the walk and walking around the show.. oh and on M going down to bed early
Not sure if there are scales in the house but will hop on the wii fit and see what it says, is that ok with everyone? Then i will weigh myself the minute i get home next week and go from my normaly scales again... i have been good and have been walking so am hoping ast week wasn't just a fluke
-
ZF, yeah Wii fit is ok! That's what I use every week. It is much more accurate than our other scales at home.
I really hope the weigh in tomorrow will be kind to me... Ahhhh I'm scared and excited and nervous. I've been really good at the beginning of the week, but today (and yesterday) I ate some chocolate cake at work :hide:. I did however enjoy it thoroughly!
Anyhoo, we'll see the result tomorrow!! Good Luck everyone!!!
-
I had some chips for lunch with the kids then some choc biscuits before  oh well though enjoyed them and i know it's not an every day thing... all in moderation.. i'm kinda on hols and enjoying life... oh and dealing with 4 kids on my own.. :p
-
I rekon its harder on the weekends, because generally routines are broken from what happens during the week.
Lunch for me was last nights leftover risotto, I had about six hot chips at the show and nothing else (pinched them from DD!!), and dinner tonight was a roast chook with vegies.
I used to weigh myself on the wii fit, dunno why I stopped really, because my scales aren't digital. Should go back, weigh myself on old scales tomorrow then the wii and see what the diff is.
-
Hi guys :)
Umm, I dont really know what to write .. lol .. But I was 52kg before i was pregnant with my son, Then after he was born i weighed, 82kg. Before I fell pregnant with my daughter, I had gone back to 64kg, but gained it all back up to 86kg, which is what I'm at today.
Thing is i loose weight really easily, I lost the weight with my son in about 2 months just by just eating the correct amount of calories. And i only excercised about 2 times a week. But I eat out of boredom, and well, just for the sake of it. If I'm busy I dont eat anywhere near as much and never get hungry. Anyone else like this?
Just last month i went from 86 to 81 in a little under 2 weeks, but i put it back on again. Sigh ..
Anyway, thats my post over lol .. I'm looking forwars to getting to know all the people doing this challenge too :) xxxxx
-
Welcome M2A - i have found i NEED to exercise BUT the thing for me is i actually NEED to eat a little more, i eat fairly wll but not enough calories to help my metabolism, last week i exercised (walks with the girls and kate) and i ate normally plus threw in a few well balanced snacks to bump up he calories and i lost 3.8kg :)
GL and i can't wait to see how you go
-
oooh, i think i often make the mistake of eating too few calories thinking i'll lose weight faster. Even though I read otherwise, i just cant seem to get it through my head. lol
I'm a single mum of a 2 year old and a 4 month old, so i dont really get time to do actual excercise, but i do things like if i hang the washing out i'll put the basket a few metres from the line, and then i have to walk to it each time to hang something it :) ..
I cant get anough of bread and pasta. I eat plain bread rolls and i can eat 5 in one night .. lo
I'm breastfeeding too, so I want to be careful of that.. :)
Good luck to you too :) .. xx
-
Aw hun i am BFing too, i find that if i take the time to get DD1 a snack it's no extra effort to get myseld something aswell, start small, add in a snack once a day adn then go from there.. can you go for a walk, have found this to be a great way of getting exercise, keeping the kids entertaned and catching up with friends... i have been alking with Kate07 which has been GREAT.. oh and PRMG... :)
-
I would walk but Ayva screams in the pram :( .. Not straight away but any longer then say 10 mnutes and she cracks it .. Makes shopping very hard too .. anything really ..
I have gastro atm, so I dont even want to think about moving or eating .. lol .. my daughter just had the rotavirus vaccine and obviosly i didnt wash my hands well enough after a nappy change :(
-
WHOOP!!!!!!! A loss!! Lost one whole kilo!!!
Hehe. I checked the scales about four times, got on, got off, went to find my glasses, tried again. It's ranging around the 78 mark, a tad below, but they aren't digital, so I'll say 1kg.
M2A - Welcome to the thread and I hope you feel better soon. Gastro sucks.
-
:leap: I've lost 1.1kg's YAY!!! I hope it keep going at this rate for a while longer
well done to everyone for a great week just gone and for those recording not so great results keep going, the journey is an up and down one but the end results are worth it :bluecheer:
-
Can i just get everyone to make sure they PM me their updates, don't mind if you post it here but just to make it a bit easier to find rather than trawling through all the replies.
I'm not on my own scales so i am not 100% sure but the Wii fit says i am 97kg even so that would be a loss of 2.5kg ??? that can't be right can it, over 6kg in 2 weeks? if it is i am so so happy..
Well done to everyone so far on their losses, keep up the BRILLIANT work.
Walked 2.6 K's today taking the kids to school, if the weather is nice will walk that again this arvo to pick them up.. also hoping to walk from here to the park with my bro and niece this morning sometime, am loving all this walking.
-
Hi girls,
I've been MIA from this thread even though I should be here every day!!! This week hit a low point for me, ds has been super clingy and not sleeping during the day and won't take a bottle, plus dh has started a new job and is working stupid ours, today I got my second period from having ds2. Even though... these are only excuses on why I've been eating junk and not doing any exercise.
Well... it all came to a head yesterday and I paid the price :( We had booked for some family photos that were to be Christmas presents for the Nannas of me, dh and our 2 boys. The photos went up yesterday for the 'sneak peek' and I almost cried. I don't know what I fooled myeslf into thinking I look like but the camera sure doesn't lie :( The nicest photo of me and ds1 looks terrible. I have double chins, huge arms and look really unfit and unhealthy :shakehead: What a waste of money, and I only have myself to blame, I'm the one who didn't get up and go for that walk, I'm the one that went through the drive thru to buy the junk :wall:
It starts from NOW! I WILL track what I'm eating, I WILL do some form of exercise every day and I WILL lose some of this weight by Christmas.
Well done to all of you who have kept up the motivation and are losing weight, keep the good stories coming! You guys are great inspiration! :)
-
DB - hun.. use those photos as your motivation, don't look at them as a bad thing, look at them and think this is why i want to change.
I use my gross photos on FB and i look at them and they make me feel sick, i SHAMED myself and now i know i WANT to make it all work.
You CAN do this and we are 100% behind you, when DS wont settle grab out the pram, attach some toys and go for a walk.. your getting your exercise and kids are being entertained.
Keep up the great work hun
-
Ohh Doodlebug  I know exactly what you're feeling! Last year we went to this big gala night and had professional pics taken... When they arrived in the mail I just broke down and cried :( I couldn't believe that was me in the pictures or my DP (he was Huuuuge back then, too. Triple chin..). I think it was the wakeup call we both needed. DP lost 20kg since then (don't you just hate how men lose weight sooo much easier! hehehe) and I have *struggled* to lose 14kg so far. I have kept it off for six months now! So that's a start! But because we've been on this journey for a while I don't lose weight fast anymore. (hence the snail in my ticker)... This week I lost 700g LOL But hey, a loss is a loss, right? So jump on the bandwagen, we can do it together!! It does take a while, but it'll be worth it! Promise
ZF: :o W O W !! Another great loss!! You must be doing something right! You go girl! :cheer:
Cherished1 and PacRakMG: :leap: That's awsome!! Way to go! You guys rock!
Mum2Aiden: Hugs, darl, hope you're feeling better soon.
AFM, like I already said, I lost 700g whoop whoop  It ain't much, but with last week's loss I've lost 1kg in 2 weeks... That's good enough for me. It's going down, that's all that counts. So I reckon I not gonna lose 10kg by Christmas, but 5kg would be noice, too! :D Positive thoughts people. Positive thoughts.
-
DB - Photos suck don't they? Hope you're okay.
ZF - Well done!!! Keep it up, your DP won't know what's hit him!
Cherished1 - Great stuff! Still enjoying the JC meals?
Raupe - Fantastic! and you're absolutely right, going down is what counts :)
-
A teeny tiny loss this week (just 200g) but I am over the moon as I had a rubbish week and didn't get to the gym at all. I also went once to maccas and had a bottle of wine over a couple of nights, so it's great to know I can still do all that and not gain weight. :D
-
Wow ZF what an amazing weight loss again!! Well done :)
DB- You poor thing, its so confronting hey! Good on you for deciding to do something though.
Raupe- That is a really great job keeping it off for 6 months, and well done on the loss this week!
Cherished1- Woohoooooooo! Brilliant, i am so envious and wish i had worked harder!
PRMG- Well done mate! That is awesome!! I need to get some digital scales too, i have some old school ones which are really hard to read.
Traveller- i only wish i could say the same!
Well, i officially need to be named and shamed :( I had a terrible week away on holidays with DF and the kids. I can't say he is a bad influence, because i made a lot of the decisions myself and could have had better options, but a week of eating anything and everything and barely exercising has taken its toll:
Total To Date Last Week This Week
Weight loss -2kgs -3kgs +1kg
Measurements
Under Bust -1cm -2cm +1cm
Waist -5cm -3cm -2cm
Hips -2cm -4cm +2cm
Arms +1cm 0cm +1cm
Thighs -3cm -2cm -1cm
Oh well, this week should make up for it. I WILL be using myfitnesspal and sticking to it, and i WILL be back exercising every day, and next holiday i have well and truly learnt my lesson and won't make the same mistakes and undo all of my hard work so far!
So far today i have eaten well and did 2ks on the elliptical trainer, 5minutes on the step machine, 5k bike ride + 7x weight at 15x4 reps.
-
Appletree - no to naming and shaming!! Holidays are supposed to be enjoyed in every level and that includes food as far as I'm concerned! Hope you had a wonderful time
Traveller - Good stuff!
And....OMG
I just got back from a walk - I did 7.94kms according to runkeeper!! I remembered that I had to post letters today, and forgot when I was at the shops this morning and my car is now at the panel beaters. So I had to walk. Took me 1 1/2 hours but YAY, that feels good.
-
PRMG- wow! amazing walk today!! We had a great time thanks :)
Well, hooray! I actually kept under my cals for today :) I am allowing an additional 500 cals for BFing, and myfitnesspal has calculated 1310 cals daily based on my current weight, height and goal of 1kg loss per week, so i am allowed 1810 per day. Today i came in at: 1654!! Woohooo! Not only that but i stayed under the goals for fats, carbs and sodium which i have always really struggled with in the past. I did have a sugar blow out, but i think the target is way too low as i would exceed it with half a glass of skim milk + a banana each day...
Plus, my cardio workout came to almost 500 cals burnt today, and i also did a huge strength workout :) Yay :)
-
Well done Appletree!
Even with my walk today I went over the cals. I treated myself to a white iced chocolate, a small one and its thrown me over. The only other things I've eaten today is my normal breakfast cereal, a salad roll for lunch and two sausages and salad for dinner. Oh, and a mango. Go figure. Not happy jan. In fact, feeling kinda miserable.
-
Oh bugger? Really? Thats all you ate and your still over? How far over did you go? Don't be miserable, i am sure you can even it out over the course of the week? Divide it by 7 and take it off each days total... hahaha, is that cheating?
And BTW... mmmmm.... was it gloria jeans? I LOVE those, but unfortunately had to give up dairy a it really aggravates DS's reflux.
Here's what i got for my cals today, i am stuffed and loved everything i ate:
Breakfast: Country grain toast with vegemite and butter
Morning tea: Apple + 2 rice cakes with vegemite and butter
Lunch: Ham, cheese, tomato cucumber on country grain bread
Afternoon tea: 2 serves of sweet and salty popcorn + lemon lime sorbet (this was my sugar blowout but we got stuck in a storm by the water so took shelter in a cafe and i treated DD and i to an ice-cream as it was still so hot!)
Dinner: Early dinner with DD (shhh!)- wholemeal mini pita pizza with cheese ham and corn, 2nd dinner with DH was steak with mustard sauce and tomato, cucumber, avocado, carrot, corn salad no dressing (didn't need it)
Dessert: Special K chocolatey bar, caramel flavour
-
It was gloria jeans....the white choc coconut one. I was over by 600 cals. 300 I can accept, cause of the drink, but the others really suck.
-
ha, just had to share, i just weighed myself, last night i was 86 today im 81 .. Thanks gastro! :( ... All I've managed to stomach today is a bit of bread and some lemonade .. ugh ..
So what calories should i eat while breastfeeding? Everywhere tells me different, usually between 1300 & 2000, but 700calories is a lot of food! lol ..
-
I would say aim for 1700 when breastfeeding, but lower your calories once solid food takes over as a main source of nutrition for your son, (so down to maybe 1300 by the time he is a year old, then down to 1200 when you stop feeding whenever that may be). That's just a guess though based on what others have told me.
-
The nutritionist at my gym advised 5-600 calories a day, so that is what I am going with :)
-
On top of your normal calorie intake, right? Otherwise that doesn't seem nearly enough.
-
You know what? and yeah, I keep agonising over this sadly, maybe I'm getting the portion sizes wrong. Because I was nearly over before dinner and I was STARVING! Maybe I need to actually weigh things for a few days to get the gist of weights so I can accurately put it in. I don't know if that will be better or worse. Can I change the measurements on myfitness to be our measurements instead of ounces??
Hmmm, just playing as I type this. I put down 16oz of Swiss Cheese and that converts to 453 grams. I DID NOT eat half a kilo of swiss......feeling slightly better. Off to fix my mistakes.
-
I always weigh my food. Often I underestimate things like cheese, and over estimate sultanas and cereal. I also dish out my dinner with a measuring cup so if I am having rice, for example, I know half a cup is my limit.
-
Hahaha, half a kilo of cheese?? That is crazy! Though Swiss cheese is seriously yummy :)
Try putting in the actual brand, cos they are Australian they usually have it in something that's meaningful to us. It's definately worth being anal for a week or so to get a really good idea of what you are eating and what it contains. I was shocked when I first started doing it, particularly on how far I was exceeding my daily sugar and saturated fat! Portion size is a big factor for me so I do check it, but only for the big ticket items that are high in calories, anything that has a wrapper that I can't find in the database I manually add in, fruit and veg is approx only.
Raupe- definately on top of :)
Today is my exercise day of rest, nothing to report here! Taking the kids to the park, trying to come up with something fun to do this afternoon still.
-
Phew! I was worried, appletree! I thought you're seriously starving yourself!!
@ PRMG  Half a kilo of cheese?? Hahahah Awsome! I wanna see you eat that :o You'd be constipated for weeks
