What a great thread! Im subbing coz once bub comes along I definately want to be here working towards my goal weight. Im scared I'll dissapoint myself if I name my ideal weight so I'll just say I probably need to loose about 25kgs or more? I'm 114kgs now after putting on a few so far during this pregnancy & Im sure that number will only increase by the end as Ive had to limit my exercise now due to back & hip problems.

But everyone sounds so motivated in here so I cant wait to really get started after Bub. I have a wedding to look 'super fine' for haha. If thats not a motivator I dont know what is!!

I hope its ok to ask in here but does anyone have any tips for exercise during PG that can be done without putting strain on back & hips? Im supposed to limit walking

    exercise

    I find dedicated exercise hard.

I used to walk alot, before my friend moved away and when we still at the pram stage. Once my daughter started wanting to walk, the walks became a stroll...

I have a bike with a trailer on it, so I can use that more. We can ride to the library instead of driving. That could be good.

DH bought the family a Wii Fit game thingy a year ago. I lost about 4 kg in 3 mths at the beginning of last year by using it each morning (and being very mindful of eating).

As a family we have started bush walking a track nearby, which is great when the kids are happy to be in the backcarriers, but otherwise is just a nice outing together. If the kids are stomping in puddles, I will do on the spot excersies (like squats or lunges, leg lifts, whatever..just moving on the spot really), the kids think that is funny.

On good days, I like to dance with the kids - which they love.

Before christmas I managed to get through to my (no-weight-issue) DH that he MUST NOT buy me chocolate. You see, for me chocolate is like a drug. I told him that by buying chocolate he makes it very hard for me. I can not buy it. I can say no in the shop. But once it is home - it drives me mad, I can hear it calling to me, and I can't just have a little bit: I MUST consume the entire supply. I likened him to a drug supplier, and enabler (or something). I said if I was trying to give up cigarettes (I am not a smoker, btw), and he was to buy them for me all the time, it would be a bad thing. When I explained it like that, and said that no matter how much I ask him to buy some chocolate - say "No, I love you too much to do that"....the craving passes, and in the morning I thank him for staying strong and helping me to be strong.
Slowly I am beating that addiction.

What sort of fittness activities do you like to do and how do you manage it around a young family?

What are your food challenges, and what strategies do you find help?

(oh, and I am about 110kg, aiming for low 70's, apparently my 'ideal' is 65)

Lissy, are you able to get to a pool? (or are you lucky enough to live near the beach, with one of those pools...)
Aqua aerobics (with the right class for pregancy) or swimming laps (breaststroke, backstroke, doggy paddle).

xoxoall the best with the rest of the pregnancy xoxox

My problem is that I am really really time poor. I work full time and also am a full time uni student(external), plus I have my DP and our girls. I find after work I am shagged and the girls deserve my attention after work, so finding the time to go and exercise without feeling guilty is really hard. I was going to curves, 30 mins out of my day is better then nothing. As for food, if I am going to conferences and work events I get fed, so I tend to get a bit piggy. I also have PCOS so do not fair well if I am eating bread/pasta. It makes me balloon. SO salads are the go, but finding the time for me, to prepare them whether that be morning or night is so hard! Sounds like such a cop out but its just easier to have what everyone else is having.

Put a zip lock bag of mixed nuts and sultanas in your handbag and take it with you everywhere, you can munch on them all day and they will stop you pigging out

Can I join too. I have lost 13kg and still got 50kg to go. The last few weeks I have been walking 30 minutes a day until the last few days I've been slack because of the heat. On the days I can't walk I'm going to do 30 minutes of the stepping on the wii fit. I am planning to join a gym in the next few months. I want to try a couple out before I join, 1 has the gym, pool & childcare. the other is a 24hr gym but no pool or childcare. I just don't know which one to choose. Anyone got any thoughts on which one? I want to go to the first one and see how the kids go in their childcare, if they will go, DS is going through big separation issue atm. I am looking forward to chatting with you all.

    Me too Twinkle ,
I work two jobs that are meant to be 0.5FTE but both take as much as they can from me, I study part time and any spare time I devote to the lights of my life. The answer for me, not that its easy, but I am trying to make it work is family based exercise. I am going to try and walk around the block after they're in their PJ's, did it the other night and DD fell asleep, such an easy bed time. The other thing I have is a treadmill. Worth its very heavy weight in gold, The food thing...its a struggle, but I think its about deciding you are worth the effort...I'm struggling with that too. LIttle cans of tuna and grainy bread are a pretty easy take along lunch.

Water is the pregnant and injured persons friend, Do anything in there that you like, walk, run, float, swim. its also great to do some tummy down swimming or floating towards the end of pregnancy for optimal positioning. Also is there a cross trainer or stationary cycle that you could use? Less impact. Wouldn't hurt to try?
    Good luck

Twinkle, I totally understand the time poor issue. I seem to live an extremely busy life and I don't have children. LS was on the right track though with the snacks in the zip lock bags. It works a treat.

For those of you wanting to know about the liteneasy pricing, it's all available on their website. My partner and I are both on it and we pay about $280 per week for the both of us. I'm doing the 1200 calories (I might have to switch to 1500 as I'm quite hungry through the day) and he is doing the 1800 calorie option.

I've started to go walking for about 45 mins a night. I feel great for doing it, but the difficulty has been getting DP to come with me. He probably has 60 kg's to lose and he wasn't feeling well one night, then top gear was on another night.... so on and so on.

Cupcake, speaking of motivation, what is everyones motivation tips? What is something that helps you all keep going? For me, it's the fact I want my next IVF cycle to have the best chance possible. When ever I'm hungry or de-motivated, I imagine holding my baby...

Also, I try to cheat-proof my house. I make bucket loads of diet jelly! It's great for when you just want to eat something. You know that feeling when you stand in front of the fridge with the door open, just looking for anything yummy to eat??? Go DIET jelly! I also buy one pack of sugar-free lollies a week. One lollie a day seems to keep the cravings away!

I nearly had a full blown panic attack this morning when I thought my scales didn't work! haha, rest assured that they are ok now

I really look forward to getting to know you all

Oh I so wish I could go the lite and easy way!! Bugger about them not delivering to where I live or work. I am thinking that on a sat/sun I will do mass cook ups of really healthy food for me at night so I am not 1. picking at the kids leftovers 2. am not rushing to make myself something just because I am hungry.

Thanks for all you tips and support And I am excited about going on this journey with you all and getting to know you all better too!

Twinkle, Just have a look at their meal plans online,do your bulk cook-up and try to replicate their method of meal prep. NOt the recipies, but more so the snacks. With the help of Calorie King, you can have awesome meal plans!
