Well done Mel & Kylie on your weight losses - it's great to hear positive stories

Dan, I found that Fridays worked best for that very reason, if you have a bit of a slack weekend you can make up for it during the week.

Thanks Mel I got the emails. I've had a quick squizz and hope to sit down and go over it properly tomorrow before work. Looks great though. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi girls, I thought I would join this thread as I am on a mission to lose 13kgs before TTC. I am currently 68kgs with a goal weight of 55kgs. I am quite short so this weight would put me back in the "healthy" BMI category (currently just in the overweight category). My mum is undergoing lap band surgery next week and in preparation for the op she has to go on a liquid diet. She has been on Optifast for 2 weeks and has already dropped a staggaring 6kgs! She has a shake for breakfast and lunch and then has a plate of steamed vegies for dinner.

I am going to go on Optifast for 2 weeks and then will resume my normal diet (less the sugary and fatty foods). My normal diet usually consists of low GI foods that are high in protein and fibre. Natural and organic foods are the best. I try to stick to 1500 calories a day and the CalorieKing book is a must have in my handbag!! The great thing about Mum's current diet (which is a requirement before her surgery) is that even though in the beginning she was VERY hungry, she gradually got used to it and no longer has such a large appetite. I think sometimes you just need to show your tummy that it really doesn't need that much food!!

I also train with a personal trainer once per week and I walk every morning.

to our thread Arte & Amy!

Arte, you'll like Mels meal plan. It's great. I think it's just what I needed as I seem to come unstuck easily when I don't properly plan my meals for the day in advance.

Amy, yes the optifast can be really effective. And because of the high protein content it helps your body to preserve muscle even though you are on a very low calorie diet. So it can be a really good kicstart if you can stick with it. All the best for your mum and her lap band surgery.

I've got to say that I just love Curves! I've only been 3 times as I joined last thursday. It's great because its a cardio and resistance training workout all in one. Oh, and I made sure that it's safe to do while pregnant. I'd forgotten how good it feels to exercise.

    How is everyone going?

Ahhh i weighed myself this morning and I am 69.8kgs - I WILL NOT tip over into the 70's!!! Optifast started as of this morning. Drinking chocolate chalk for breakfast and lunch is not going to be fun.... but I will persevere!! Mel I would love to take a look at your diet plan also!!

PS - Thanks for the warm welcome!!

Amy, good on you! The optifast dessert tastes quite nice actually. How are you handling not being able to snack between meals?
I work 3 days a week and we have a chocolate box about 2 meters away form me. It's a charity type thing with all sorts of chocolate bars for $2. I am a chocoholic so I find this very difficult to resist! Any suggestions???

    Hi all,
it has been a few weeks and I am still fat as ever! My motivation has been really low but I really need to pick myself back up. Sweets are my weakness, they are all getting cleared out of the house....and not into my mouth this time lol. I also need to exercise, that is the key when I lose weight. It has to start today!

Forgot to get my scales back on the weekend but I have been really good!!

Went for two long walks last week and spent the whole of yesterday outside gardening (this is a workout in itself as we live on a steep block!).

Congrats Alioops for reaching your goal weight

And good on you Amysarah for sticking to it!

    Welcome MissEtched

Well Lea, I feel your pain. I started this thread how long ago now???
Anyway, I weaned myself off Effexor (meds I was on for PND) a couple of months back and my depression returned (as well as my compulsion for Chocolate!) I have put on 5 kilo's in 2 months! Went back to my GP who said it was because of the depression and she has put me back on meds so hopefully now I'll find it just that little bit easier to stick to my healthy eating plan.

HI everyone!!! I'm so glad i found this area to post in. I've put ttc on hold until i can lose a few kgs. I want to be ready to ttc again in October. After my second ds was born i lost the baby weight and a couple of extra kilos but then got slack and gained most of it back I've just recently lost 2kgs and am hoping to lose another 7-9kgs more. I would really be happy to lose 5 more even! I'm not overweight by much but since i'm so short every kg is noticable, kwim? And i want to be healthy before i get pregnant again.
I'm using SparkPeople.com to help me and i think it's fantastic!!! I do 40 minutes on my exercise bike 6 times a week. Plus strength training 3 days a week. I eat between 1200-1550 cals a day. BUT at the moment i have a chest infection AND af could there be anything worse? lol So i haven't exercised in about a week. I'm feeling pretty deprived and i HOPE i haven't gained any weight back. Kinda hard to tell when i have af. But anyhow, i weigh in on Mondays so i hope to be able to weigh in next monday and see my weight the same. I don't think i've lost any this week. Anyhow, i've rambled enough. lol

    Hello girlies!!

great read and also a great post! i am new.. as i keep saying.. and jsut to give a bit of back ground.. i currently do not have any children.. hubby and i jsut got into a private health fund three months ago and decided to start trying in september.. surprise surprise i am nearly two days late for my AF.. and i am in denial thinking im not UTD even tho i have the signs.. i think im in doubt because it was our first try hahaha and thinking as if i could be taht lucky!! going to do a test soon tho!
as for loosing weight.. i cop alot of flack although i only way 73kgs and 174cm i am a healthy bmi.. i would have liked to have lost 4 or 5 kgs b4 falling pregnant although just started a job that requires sitting on my butt allll day long! (property management) it makes it hard to maintain weight.
although they say that dieting isnt a good thing when pregnant would it be correct in say that eating healthy.. and only eating when your hungry (as long as ur maintaining breaky lunch and dinner) and along with excersise.. u shud be right..
i mean i go to the gym 3-4 times a week.. admittedly i have been doing those pump classes and spin classes.. i was under the understanding as long as ur taking things easy (doing things at ur own pass.. not at a bullet of a gate ur right)
i have tried those shake diets before.. (a few years back) and as soon as i have stopped it loads the weight back on...
to be honest with summer comming my favourite breaky is 'carrot.. celery.. bettroot.. apple.. spinach and giner juice' sounds gross but is actually yummy. i drink heaps of water which seems to stop the habit of snacking bad foods and usally eat a salad and meat for lunch and vegies and meat for dinner. i think tis every thing in moderation and also keeping a diary helps to remember those little naughty moments taht you have.. which i think is very important other wise your diet can become rather boring.
hope i can obtain some great advise from you all along the way because i dont know every thing and could probably be doing something better hahaha and would love to still maintain if not loose alittle around my thighs even tho i may be UTD (that probably sounds terrible!)

Rel - did I email that to you? I can't remember....

So yeah... trying to figure out when we are actually going to TTC - sometime next year I think (maybe in 7 months time?!) I'd like to have a March baby - obviously have missed it for next march - so aiming for the one after - think we have to start trying in June? I dunno, bit dull in the head at the moment for working out dates - must be lack of sleep.

Just got the last lot of chocolate to finish off then back on the diet.. LOL

    MmmMMMMMm. Mint slice biscuits....

Anyone else still in this thread??
