Hey everyone! Second week almost complete!
Don't feel disheartened if you didn't lose as much as you hoped - like Kim said, every little bit counts. Besides, weight loss is all about the long term and overall lifestyle change which takes work! Keep up the great work!

Just got back from the AquaFit class at the gym. It was... interesting. I think it was a good work out, though it's harder to tell in the water. I don't feel like I got too puffed out, but my muscles feel like they've been worked!
Off to RPM tomorrow, and quietly crapping my pants...

Hi Sterla - you'll be surprised, the water takes the weight off hence why you don't feel like you're working the muscles so much but you do! I did pregnancy aqua classes from about 16 weeks till 39 weeks and I've been doing mums and bubs aqua classes since Amelia was 8 weeks old. It's definitely exercise and it all counts so good on you!!! Whats RPM?

Alison: That's great to hear about the water doing lots of good work

Hollo: Maybe all the gym is building up muscle, and that's why not much weight lost? Measurements are probably more accurate maybe?

Did you weigh in at the same time of the day? In basically the same clothes? Even weighing in the late arvo if you usually weigh first thing in the morning can be a huge difference.. (or if you need to do a poo.. ROFL)

Didn't eat TOO bad today, not counting calories, just making better choices than normal. Today for lunch I ripped up some mountain bread, chucked it in the oven, got it out and added tuna (mixed with low fat mayo), some roma cherry tomatoes, some baby spinach, and some cheese on the top - chucked it back in the oven - and it was super yummy!!!! Big difference to Nachos, but sorta the same thing

I did have some jelly beans though, but only a couple - so thats ok.. everything in moderation.. haha

Tonight was low fat sausages and vegies - yum yum yum.

Plus I did the aqua fit class at the gym with sterla - didn't like the chest presses against the pool, they were a bit ouchy!!!! I'm feeling a bit sore though, so must hassle DH for a massage tonight.

Weigh in day tomorrow - woot!! (still no measurements, can't find tape)

nah different clothes, different time of day. i dont have scales here so i have been going to a friends to use theirs. i am not sure about the measurments thing. i think i measured wrong to begin with cause i used a piece of string and then measured it with a 30cm ruler LOL (couldnt find our tape either)!!!

anyhoo, i am having take away tonight to protest! i am going to have to do the meal replacement thing i think.. though it costs a fortune!

It definitely does make a difference what time of day you weigh in as you can fluctuate up to 2kg in a day from food, drink, exercise or seemingly nothing at all! I won't weigh later in the day because it is too depressing LOL. Hollo - I always find the weeks I pick up a new exercise I won't lose as much and I probably am developing muscles I wasn't using before but if you keep at it you will definitely see the results. That is why the cms help because it keeps you motivated when the scales aren't showing what you want. I have only lost 500g so far (over 2 weeks) but have lost 7cm in total from chest, tummy and hips so I know I am going to be losing fat even if the scales aren't cooperating. LOL. Enjoy your time off tonight and your take away! And don't doubt that you are doing a great job!

Alison, where did you do your preg aqua aerobics? I did mine at Mercy. I loved it. The weightlessness of the water always made me think 'so this is what a whale feels like in the water'

I weigh in in the morning after I go to the loo and before I eat or drink anything. Hopped on the scales after dinner the other night and the numbers were down so hopefully when I do my official weigh in tomorrow morning, they are still that way!! We went out to dinner last night for MIL's birthday. It was at an Italian restaurant and I had cannelloni for mains and cheesecake for dessert. It was delish and I ate only enough to feel satisfied. Normally I would finish everything in sight!

Managed to do 17 minutes on the cross trainer this morning before DS woke up

Just sent off my results. Am quite happy with how I'm going

Alison: RPM is the bike class. I actually have no idea what it stands for though, lol. Water aerobics when you're pregnant sounds awesome. I'll have to look into something like that around here when I'm pregnant.

Mel: See you in a few hours. Would you like to borrow my measuring tape?

Hollo: I always weigh same time of day. I try and do it first thing of a morning after a trip to the toilet and before I eat anything. I also try and weigh myself in just my underwear. Krysalyss is right - your weight fluctuates heaps throughout the day - it can be quite disheartening, which is also why it's best not to weigh yourself too often (I'm terrible for this cause the scales are just sitting there in the bathroom).

    Krysalyss: 7cm is awesome!

Eluned: Woohoo! Never tried a cross trainer - might have to at the gym some time.

    Good morning everyone!!!!

Sterla - nah I'm sure I'll find mine somewhere... I know the kids were playing with it, so its probably in the cat litter or some other place just as lovely Looking forward to RPM this morning, even though I'm expecting it to totally kill my knee. DH rubbed voltaren into my knee and elbow last night, gee it made my knee hurt!! So hopefully it would have taken some of the inflammation away and not hurt as much today - fingers crossed!!!

Krys - awesome measurement loss!!! Very awesome!!!

Eluned - I haven't tried a cross trainer either - the thought scares me I think.. LOL

Off to get ready for the gym!! Just had a hearty breakfast - my own version of the bacon and egg mcmuffin - except I grilled the bacon so all the fat came out, and I poached the eggs instead of frying and had a small slice of cheese and a small squirt of mayo - delish! And a glass of water with a slice of lime in it instead of juice

Didn't have the best weigh in this morning, it was a loss, but not a huge loss - bit disappointing considering I've been to the gym all week and DH hasn't and he lost over double what I did!!! Grrr - men!!!!

Mel, you're probably keeping the weight on because you're building muscle. If you measured yourself, you'd probably see a big difference!

Just weighed in and I have had a loss, yay, only small, but I didn't expect any at all, so I'm happy!

Well I ditched the 1.3kg AF gain and an extra 100gm. So in total only a 100gm loss for me. I am only going to do measurements monthly as I dont notice much change and i find it more depressing. Well done to everyone else!!!

    BB Challenge Week Two!

Mel, sterla - the cross trainer is fantastic. It's low impact and once you get used to it, it's easy to do with no hands. I often read a book or browse BB & FB on my iPhone while doing it

Dragoncookie, lilias - well done on the loss

Had a small loss again this week, haven't done measurements yet but I'm hoping for a loss there too as my jeans are feeling looser.

Eluned, do you ever get numbness in your feet from your cross trainer/elliptical?
DH has done a fair bit of research on them as we were considering on buying one, and he found people talking about after longish sessions on their trainer (30mins plus) they would get numbness in their feet.
Apparently its from the distance the feet are apart (the closer the better) and also if the foot pedals are flat or inclined (inclined was better).
the more expensive the trainer the less often numbness was experienced too.
So have you ever had any numbness?

    BB Challenge Week Two!

Mel, haven't had any numbness. My xtrainer pedals are adjustable height and incline so I've got it set up to suit me. I don't find the pedals too far apart, they're about hip width which is quite comfortable for me. I've got a midrange xtrainer (cost me $700ish about 5 years ago) and it's still going well. Currently I only manage up to 20 minutes at a time on it around the kids but a while ago I would do 30-45 minutes every day and never had probs with numbness afterwards. Just wobbly legs from the exercise lol

I've only got a cheapy one but it's quite narrow and I've never felt that either....though a long time for me on it is 20minutes - it's hard work!

How did RPM go??? I'm sooo jealous. I love that class!!!

RPM killed! I couldn't do it very well - especially when we had to get up off the seat! Plus, I think I had the resistance up to high in the beginning, so I was burnt out half way through the class. Definitely worked up a sweat though!!!
