    breast feeding and trying to lose weight help i cant stop eating



    I want to lose weight and it is just not happening I am so hungry all the time and when I try and wait and stick to meal times cut out a snack i notice i get low blood sugars today they were really bad my hands were shaking lots exacgtly like the hypos I got when I was on insulin in my pregnancy.

    I am thinking of trying weight watchers but they are expensisve havent got a clue about calorie counting I feel so fat my tummy is awful just want to tone up and feel slimmer

    i am doing a lot of walking i have a 30 minute walk to school and a 30 minute walk back so on most days i do 2 hours walking pushing a double buggy all i have to show for it is very sore feet lol

    so has any one any tips on what to eat that is cheap and low in calories

    Could you try sticking to low GI foods? If you are getting the shakes it might help to eat foods that are slow to break down (e.g. dairy foods like yoghurt or tea with milk, whole grain breads, low fat cheese and crackers, porridge for breaky...) If you google low GI foods you will probably come up with loads of suggestions online.
    The excersise is brilliant That's going to be the best way for you to get healthier quicker.
    But I just want to reassure you, it's only 2 months since you had a baby! Don't be too hard on yourself, I'm sure you will get to where you want to be weight-wise in time. Take care

    Crikey - I do feel for you......

    We have to do a reality check first. I need you to stop even thinking of dieting, As soon as you do that, all you want to do is eat the food you tell yourself you can't have......

    As for waiting for a meal time to cut out snacks, most people need to eat frequently - especially if you are doing 2 hours walking and running around after 4 kids. No wonder you get the shakes. Not good!

    What I want you to do is just eat normally for 2 weeks and write down everything that goes in your mouth. Liquid and Solid and the times you ate and why you ate. It is the only way to see what and how and why you are eating. I also need your weight, height and dress size.

    Once we have this info, we can start modifying, sometimes even increasing food intake while dropping calories.

    I am a big fan of weight watchers from the point of view that they have support groups and they really teach you how to eat for the rest of your life. However, as you say, they can be expensive and as far as I am concerned, the WW brand of food is so full of artificial ingredients I can't recommend them to my clients.

    Overall, I recommend lowering the intake of crap and junk food and increasing wholefoods and fresh fruit and veggies and salads.....and drinking a lot of water....sounds simple and it is and it works - just not always so easy to do.....

    I second what Tracey says however I do Weight Watchers and I don't eat any of their food as it is full of chemical rubbish. If you are breastfeeding and hungry then eat. I eat every couple of hours but I have lost weight by planning what I will eat, writing a shopping list, buying it then having it prepared when you are hungry. It sounds hard to do when you have chn but it is worthwhile. It can be as easy as planning your snacks for the week. My example is: this week's snacks are honey and cottage cheese on crackers, nuts, low fat yoghurt and fruit. So they go on my shopping list and when I get home I spoon the yog into 200gram tubs, portion the nuts into a little plastic bag (6 bags of 15 nuts), wash the fruit and that's it. Then in between meals when I am hungry (read: always) I grab one of those snacks and a cuppa and that gets me to the next meal.

    make sure you give yourself some time....
    i get so hungry when bfing, but slowly and surely the weight will start to drop off. you can't rush these things...

    Tracy I am quite small 4ft 11 inches I think the last time I checked just after I had Eireann I was 73kg ild have to check again Im a size 16 14 in some clothes more tops than trousers though my belly is very bad Ild say ill do some good with healthy eating and exercise but it will never be the same my skin has stretched to much and has not gone back its embarrising as ild say with out my hang down flap ild be a 12 to 14 now but ill feel much better getting in to shape.

    I do think im eating the wrong foods I have cornflakes for breckfast then after my walk and feeding Eireann i have a sambo on brown bread may be a cup of tea and buiscuits
    then I have lunch a sambo again with tomatoes or salad i was eating peanut butter but I find i eat to much so i stopped buying it. then after walk in the afternoon Ild have a snack before dinner crackers and the soft cheese onion and chive .I love having a big dinner and most night that would be it nothing else to eat on less im really hungry I still think im eating to much though.

    I think i need to eat more protein like chicken,Fish, eggs and that

    I got a weight wather magizine thinking it would give me a few recipie ideas and both thier points plan and the core were all thier branded food I dont like that they are to expensive and full of crap i want fresh food

    Snacking is fine, especially when you are BF. The issue is choosing the right things to snack on. Healthy foods. Grab some sunflower seeds instead of chocolate or an apple instead of cupcake. Just things like that. Also avoid sugary foods and drinks at all costs. With a little adjustment to the foods you are snacking on, you shouldn't have a problem. You really NEED to keep up your energy and intake when you are feeding.
    Oh and another thing is if you think you are hungry, have a large glass of water and wait 10 minutes. Sometimes we think we are hungry when we are really just thirsty

    Im so excited about loseing weight now and getting fit again.

    LimeSlice Im so sorry to hear that I hope your ok and the good memories keep you going (((HUGS)))) Im a bit of an emotional eater as well. I also think stress plays a big part in my weight gain, I sometimes dont eat when im stressed but instead of loseing weight I put it on, it happened to me when my parents seperated for a year my mam had a nervous breakdown and disapeared. with my little sister who was 12 at the times. then just after I had Eireann so called friends tried to F us over and it was so so stressful. so im not surprised i put on more weight. but no more now on wards and upwards.

    missymoo84 good tips thanks, I must remember to try them. we went for a lovely walk today for an hour really enjoyed it and would have walked for longer but it was getting late.

    I was really good I think today and it was hard, after dinner at around 9pm all i wanted was to eat but had a cup of earl gray instead and im grand now.

    keep us posted girls on how your doing have you weighed your selfs yet I weighed my self saturday, but will weigh in again on Thursday when i go to the meeting.

    Like someone said portion size is really important, especially at night when I tend to eat too much. WW teaches portion control which is great. I hadn't been to a meeting for a month (due to being away) and only put on 800 gr which was really good for me as I was dreading the weigh in. But I have lost 11 kilos with them and am breastfeeding and get hungry heaps. For me, it was reducing my cheese intake and halving my pasta and rice portions as they were king size and didn't need to be. Now I eat more protein and loads more veg and salad. I have salad at night even if DH doesn't. Often we eat diff things but mine are simple to prepare and I do it before hand when bubs asleep. Let us know how you go onThurs.
