I have done it successfully. I lost about 17 kgs on it. I still had 9 kgs on post-pregnancy after my baby was about 3 months old. I lost that 9 kgs plus an extra 8kgs which i had never been able to shift. Having said that, I didn't follow the meal plans. I just adjusted my own recipes in terms of quantities, cut out carbs at night and ate low GI carbs during the day. I liked the plan because I was able to breastfeed and get enough nutrients while losing weight at the same time. I have since had a third baby and 3 months on, I am about 6 kgs over what I was before I fell pregnant. I plan to go back on the CSIRO diet. I found it easy to do. But as I said, I adjusted it to suit me and my husband who also lost weight on it. I ate fruit/light custard/light custard/homous and veges for snacks but I really felt quite full from the meals...
Good luck. Do a bit of googling and you will find there are lots of recipes online that are connected with the actual diet and you will find other low-carb recipes online too that you can use... I do remember thinking it was costly at first but you soon learn what amount you can sensibly eat. I also know that one of the later books makes suggestions for a budgeted way of doing the diet
