I am not sure if you can do WW when you are pregnant. I found this on their website declaimer section:

The Website is not intended for use by children, pregnant women, or individuals with any type of health condition. Such individuals are specifically warned to seek professional medical advice prior to initiating any form of weight loss effort or regimen.
For example, pregnant women, and individuals under the age of 18 may not subscribe to our Fee-Based Products,
    But you could check anyway.

CHERISHED _ I'm fairly sure they don't allow you to join WW when you are pregnant, but you could adopt some of their healthy eating habits during the pregnancy & then sign up as the breastfeeding mamma after the birth?

BW _ I am still stuffing my fat rolls into the clothes I wore in Sydney, but they certainly aren't comfortable! hahahaha I threw out everything I had in a size 16 a few months back (was feeling ****y), & now I have to suck it up with my size 14's as I will NOT allow myself to ever buy anything size 16 again. Hang in there with Sam, Curly was a pitiful eater until she was around 18 months (I know that seems like forever away for Sam). The only thing she would eat for a loooooooooong time was hot chips. I know they are shocking, but I got a bit desperate & she was overworking my boobies. LOL. Now she is a brilliant eater! She will give most things a go & she is very good with fruit & veg, so I can't ask for too much more can I? LOL

BELFIE _ I have never heard of a Belgian Shepherd, I'll have to google them. Are they big? I just paid for my little man today, so he should be arriving on either Mon or Tue next week the breeder told me. He's coming from Wangaratta & I'm in Perth so the little bundle of fluff has to do 2 flights. I feel so mean, but for him, it's going to be so worth it, my kids are just beside themselves with excitement.

AMMAKI _ I'm on 24 points, so we are pretty similar, this is the first time I have actually tracked my points continually & honestly so if I don't see results on Monday morning I"m not going to be a happy girl! hehe Do you have a specific weigh-day?

I had a very good day at work today, didn't even think about the lolly jar, well only thought that making lollies won't help me get skinny! I took my lunch to work so I didn't walk around the shops smelling hot chips so because I didn't take an actual lunch break I get another half-hour in my pay! win win! Had the teeniest of desserts at the IL's for dinner tonight & no bread with my roast dinner, so I am very, very pleased with myself! I am resisting all the urges to peek at the scales, but Monday seems forever away!

What is everybody's ideal dress size? I'd love to be a size 10. If you knew me, you'd choke, but I would LOVE to be a size 10.

    Omg you people can chat!!!!!!!

I'm not even going to try to do personals but I did read through it all... eventually! LOL

    Hi Jayne

Weigh in for me last night and I'm 500g down again hooray! I had a minor sinking feeling when I thought it said 100g and made a comment about "at least it's going in the right direction" but then realised after she wrote it in my book.

I'm on 23 points. I track everyday but I often go over or under. It balances over the week as I usually dont count my bonus points. Today I went for a massive walk so got 4 bonus points and yesterday I did a short walk but a HUGE game of squash so I'm guessing around 5 bonus points. On top of only getting minimal sleep last night no wonder I am a bit tired!!!

Sorry for the selfish post. If you dont chat toooo much tomorrow I promise to do more personals hahahaha!

    Question

Thanks to everyone who answered my weight watchers question. I called them and they told me you can't do it when pregnant but they did say you could lie and do it online heheheh You wouldn't get the same results obviously! But I think I might join the online one over the weekend as I'm pretty sure my health fund pays for it anyway so I may aswell give it a go Then when I get pregnant I will keep at it for a few extra weeks and hopefully I will get my weight back down just in time to put it all back on again

Q SO another question how much weight can one expect to loose per week? 1-2kg I am thinking depending on how much they have to loose? I think if I could take off 1kg a week I could get down to a healthier weight before I'd have to stop

Cherished im down 3kg since i got back from my holidays, well im counting from the 1st, i think i joined WW online that day too! I have a lot of weight to lose tho and im just starting to really get into it so i think thats why im losing it so fast!

Saz i have 10.5 bonus points from this week but i dont go over on anydays so it makes it easier if i go out to dinner or something one night i know i have a few extra points in my belt

Jayne my weigh days are Mondays! Although ive been on the scales every morning this week i cant help it! Ive tried to 'diet' so many times and gotten no where, this is the first time im actually seeing results and i love it!! Its my motivation hehe

Netball last night...we got hammered. Didnt help the team we were playing had a stand in center from a higher division...meh. Not supposed to do that but all they do is take one point off your score if we had of 'dobbed' lol one point wouldnt have made any difference lol. Just frustrating.

Cherished - i know on the BF'ing plan you're only supposed to lose .5kg a week. I'm not sure if you mean before or during PG with your question?

~Jayne~ - this is my puppy (it's an old pic, she's nearly 4 now... but gives you an idea!) http://forums.bellybelly.com.au/foru...5&ppuser=11474

I'm on 29 points... omg it'll be scary once i"m not on the BF'ing plan anymore. And I don't tend to track my points all that religiously - just when I'm feeling that i'm falling off the rails. I've convinced DH to sign up for WW online and I'll stop my subscription - we'll just do a swap! Plus I did TWO very decent walks and pilates yesterday, 12,500 steps - reckon that should be good progress.

Cherished - if you want to continue a healthy diet with the aim of not gaining too much when you're pregnant talk to your GP or OB when you go for your confirmation appointment about the kilojoules, weight-gain and nutritional targets you should be looking at through pregnancy for YOU as you don't want to gain too much weight and then adapt your weight watchers or calorie king to that.

I'm not paying any attention to the breastfeeding requirements next time- they're a guide. If I actually ate the calories it was said I was allowed when I was breastfeeding (for 7 months) I would have put on more weight - I wasn't eating anywhere near those calories as is way too much for my body type and I wasn't losing anything and had to reduce much more than they said, so I think in everything you have to use your body as your guide as everyone's different. So Belfie - see how you go - you might not have to cut as many points as you think and still lose weight.

ooooooh good info Sas, I think I will go to a nutritionist when I get pg, maybe even before? I'm wondering if Weight Watchers is really based on calories or mainly good choices? do they tell you how many calories you will be eating based on how many points you are allowed? I'm so confused I don't really want to restrict my calories, even though I know it works my brain just doesnt' want to restrict calories because there is a part of me which thinks that it isn't the long term answer because everytime I have lost weight that way it comes straight back on when I am finished and it's not like I get to my goal weight and go crazy eating everything I can, I just stat eating normal healthy food without watching portions or calories like on the diet and the weight seems to come back on overnight "HELP"

belfie I was wondering how much most people loose each week (on average) on WW.... When pregnant I expect to put on weight so I am hoping to loose weight before getting pregnant and continue eating well during pregnancy so that I dont' gain too much weight or more than necessary Your pics are gret by the way, I keep meaning to tell you how much of a cute munchkin Xander is! I wanna get those cheaks and squeeze them hehehhe

Ammaki you rock chic! well done on your weight loss ... I think if you are getting motivation steping on the scales every day than do it! Wooohooo

CHERISHED _ I have never had to count calories on WW, they are all about making good food choices. They measure points on the saturated fats & kilojoules to give you a points score. I have found that it's really quite reasonable to stick to & it really does give you a sense of 'I can't afford that many points on the chocolate, so I will have some fruit instead' way of thinking. I like how you can 'earn' points by doing exercise, it's almost like collecting pocket money for doing jobs around the house! LOL.

SAZZ _ Oh hi chick! Fancy meeting you here!!! hahaha We can chat on here so well because we are not busy stuffing our faces.

BELFIE _ I hav seen those dogs before, previously when I had a dog, we did the dog club & there was a very, very, very, very strange lady & she had one of those dogs. The dog wasn't strange - she definitely was! hahaha They aren't HUGE but they are certainly big enough? Bigger than a BC anyway?

AMMAKI _ LOL with the weighing yourself every day. I usually do that, but it messes with my head in a major way, cos if I"m down say 0.5kg in a day, my head automatically goes into 'relax' mode because I feel I have already had a loss, KWIM? So I am being super, super, super good and not standing on the scales. My friend though is like you & she is chugging along perfectly! She even had to get up at 3am to check her weight cos she couldnt' get to sleep pondering over it. LOL 3kg is brilliant! Do you have mini-rewards to yourself for every 5kg increment???

I went out for lunch with Claudia after swimimng today & she wanted red rooster chippies so she got them & I swear I was salivating, but did I cave in? NOPE! I just stuck to my bottle of water & I got a tandoori wrap from Sumo Salad, I'm very proud of myself, tracking my points religiously has been my key this time around I think, my mind is completely on the job!

Ok, best be off. Happy healthy eating for tonight girls!

    xx

Jayne, thanks for the explanation on the WW points. I did wonder if it would be easier than my calorie king program... lets face it, anything would be easier than my calorie king program! But with me and my PCOS and severe insulin resistance, I've really got to watch the carbs in a big way so I don't think it would work that well for me.

I think I need a little help... I'm a week in to the low-carbing and the cravings are starting to hit. Going to have to have a serious chat to DH about the weekend and him needing to help me... We've got garlic bread in the fridge (bought it just before I got on the low-carb thing when we needed a meal in a hurry) and I'm so tempted by it... and the spag bol to go with it! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

WW bases it's points on counting kilojoules which is the same as counting calories. A Kj is x4.2 of a Calorie (that's why they're on the same line on nutritional tables) The points are just an easier way of expressing it. BUT I am SURE I saw on a TV ad that they also have a 'no-points' program. Don't know how it works (must restrict your food groups or something) but if counting does your head in and you can't maintain it long-term you could maybe look into that?

BW - I've been on the low carb / celebrity slim shakes for a few weeks now - I FEEL YOUR PAIN

sas is right - you can do a 'core' plan. You don't need to count points but can only choose foods from certain groups. You then get a certain number of points per week for extras and treats. You can also swap back and forth between them but can only change at the end of the week (e.g. you could do the points plan on the first week and the core plan on the second).
Wow everyone sounds like they are going so well. We are going well this week too and have eneough calories left over tonight for some treat food. Yay! And DH is being so awesome - even doing some aerobics dvds with me.
Onward and upward! (or downward really)

Cherished you can probably expect between 1 to 2kg a week for the first couple of weeks but then be prepared for it to slow a little. WW recomends UP TO 1kg/week for a sustained loss. (as in those who lose it too fast tend to put it back on again)

Yay for your DH Krysalyss. My DH just had a big bowl of icecream and topping next to me He did go for a walk with me on tuesday though. He is a bugger for eating all the biscuits in a couple of days and today I found he had eaten all my WW biscuits!!!! not happy jan. He claims he didnt realise they were WW.

I have an old WW cookbook which has heaps of NO COUNT recipies in it but they dont really appeal that much to me.

Ammaki, you are doing so well to not go over points on any days! I must admit I was like that to start with but have slackened as I progress. I think I need to rein myself in a bit now actually as I have been a bit too naughty of late. Must remind myslef that everyweek longer on the plan is another week of paying. that will nudge me a bit more

I have a bit of a question: WW always recomends products which have sweetener in them to reduce kilojoul intake but I am wanting to reduce consumption of chemials and additives also. Does anyone else find it tricky bearing this in mind with baking, desserts, and buying out? (Unless you just go for plain fresh eg: fruit or sandwiches etc.) Yoghurt is a good example: 4 or 5 WW points for additive free flavoured yoghurt but only 1 for the nutrasweet variety.

ETA: OOOo ooo oooh I forgot to brag: I had my first weight loss compliment from someone who was unaware I am doing WW today. Actually it was "are you losing weight" followed by "you're looking good" so more a question but it still gave me a little boost!

That's a good question - I battle the same thing. While I'm BF'ing and because I have to be a bit careful with some sweeteners (they don't always sit well with my malabsorption issue), so I tend to TRY and stick to healthy whole foods and just a small amount of "real" sweet foods, and keep artificially sweetened foods to a minimum I.e. I'll have 2 squares of dark chocolate (the teensy squares, not the huge ones) but then I also have low fat yoghurt and the low fat/cal hot chocolate sachets as my semi-freebie treats. I just try to juggle it a bit I guess. And for e.g. with the whole foods, my brekkie is low fat soy milk, oats and blueberries, so I reckon that's pretty good. So saying, some days work better than others... and I think I'm always a smidgie over my points, but I try to do some exercise most days and that seems to pick up the slack. Be interested to see how others deal with this tho.

I'm terrible in my consumption of phenylalanine artificial sweeteners (ie- Diet Coke is my friend ) But I do quit in pregnancy obviously. Hmmm - I just ate fruit, honey or sugar with DD's pregnancy but I think there is a low calorie sweetener that must be good for you (or not loaded with chemicals) as Dr Sandra Cabot recommends it in her books - it's called 'Stevia' haven't looked for it so can't tell you much more - but I'll keep my eyes open for it and have a read.

Because my man works overseas, it's just me & the 2 girls. They are only 2.5 & 5 in December & so they 'need' the whole foods - like whole milk, cheese, yoghurt, etc... & I have tried buying skim milks & things like that, just for me, but they go off before I use the whole amount, so I just have smaller portions of those 'whole' foods to avoid the artificial sweetners, or I just buy the WW yoghurts in a 2 pack, rather than the big packs. WW is hard to avoid because they like to replace sugars with the artificial ones, but we do need sugar in our diets, just a lot smaller amounts than what we all probably use. It's a tricky one & it's hard to avoid.

    Thanks for replying people,
I think I will just go with reducing the portion of those things which are higher in points. I know that they are in fact healthier because they are chemical free but higher in points so it's just a matter of juggling I guess.

Just did my measurements for my ww online graph and it's nice to see the cms coming off now too
