Sorry, Ammaki!
Everyone can rest assured that despite DH's suggestion of having pizza delivered for dinner last night, the garlic bread is still in the fridge and we just had stir fry for dinner. No noodles, so just meat and vegies and I was just too tired to even have my hot chocolate last night so yesterday actually looks pretty good despite the complete lack of exercise! It will be interesting to see what happens for dinner tonight - I've got a bunged up wrist at the moment, and it's my right hand so a lot of stuff has become really tricky for me... With DH tired at the end of the week, cooking could well be a complete non-event, but hopefully we will manage!
When it comes to artificial sweeteners... when I'm in weight-loss mode I just kind of ignore the fact that they are nasty chemicals and do everything I can to keep the calories down, and to eliminate carbs, especially sugars, so I do end up consuming a lot of them. I use splenda in my tea every morning and I have an addiction to coke zero... I tend to avoid too many foods with artificial stuff and lately have been snacking on strawberries, raw carrots and celery sticks rather than going for the low-fat, fake-sugar options of other foods. I figure that it's about establishing a new eating pattern that I need to stick with long-term so that when I'm down to a more comfortable weight I will still hopefully take the healthier choices rather than the choc-full-o-fake choices. I'd much rather Sam see me eating this way as he grows up, too.
Tomorrow is check-in day for me. I've got no idea why I made it Saturday, but I did... hopefully DH will find the bathroom scales for me! And an even bigger hope is that we'll actually see some action on those scales, too.
Another thing - I dropped from 5mg to 4mg of prednisone yesterday. I was just far too cranky far too often, which is usually a sign I'm on too much. Will know in about two more days whether I can maintain the drop or not, but every little dose reduction in prednisone is one step towards easier weight loss... It just sucks that now I take 6 tablets of a morning instead of only 3.

WTG everybody! I'm pretty hopeless at personal replies but I do read everyone's posts and enjoy them! I've been eating Lite N Easy but I've cut back to just breakfast and lunch, and I'm cooking my own dinners. I'm interested in this point system with WW.
Jayne my husband is a truck driver so it's often just me and the kids to cook for. I think that's how I got myself to this weight. I was cooking "kiddie" meals and filling up on junk.
Sazz excellent on someone noticing! NOONE has mentioned mine yet lol. My sisters know and my neighbour, that's it. They've commented of course but I don't count them lol.
I weighed in today and I've lost 1 kg, so 6 in total. Dead on track because I started dieting 6 weeks ago lol.
-
wow T4self... that's impressive! I reckon it took me about 4 months to lose 6kg. I also found that people started noticing once I'd lost about 6-7kg (which I think was about 5%).
BW - GL for check-in day... the wrist sounds like a nuisance.
Well I'm sooooo tired. My bad night wasn't bub, just insomnia & DH SNORING... so I just want caffeine & sugar... hmm shall try to resist. Have planned good walk this arvo and it's a beautiful day.... just.. need.. to ... keep.. eyes... OPEN! And I really don't wanna nanna nap, cos i"m hoping to actually sleep tonight.
Mmm caffeine.

Hey Belfie- you poor thing! Peppermint tea can be a good healthy boost and so can apples. When I have a mind-afternoon slump fruit is really helpful. :)
That is great that some of you are getting comments. I think I may have had only 2 or 3 comments despite having lost so much weight so I don't know if I actually look any different at all. lol.
Have been much better with exercise this week and have soccer tonight so am hoping my ankle holds up as it sucks so many calories out of me. My goal this week is to get under 70.5kg as that is my lowest so far (since having DS). That is 0.7kg away and I think I am doing well enough to do that this week.
Anyway everyone seems to be doing so well. Yay!
-
Aw belfie I feel your pain! I had two terrible nights with DD then last night I stayed up on the puter cause I just wanted time to myself (sound familiar someone??LOL) and she woke at 5am so 3 in a row of not enough sleep. I find I eat soooo badly when I'm tired. Good luck with the afternoon. Want some matchsticks?
Well I'm around 8% down and just go my first complement so maybe not far away for some of you. I'm terrible at noticing others losses or gains myself though. Someone has to lose or gain HEAPS before I have a clue hehehe.
planning a yummmmmy salmon pasta for tonight... what to have for lunch though?
-
BELFIE _ Good luck at reaching your goal this week, I really hope you get there. I had a really, really tired afternoon last week so I forced myself out for a walk & when I got home I was bouncing off the walls, it was amazing. Hope the same works for you!
SAZZ_ WTG on the noticing from people. That is awesome!!
TIME4MYSELF _ It's amazing isn't it how much kids food makes us put on weight! & I'm really pretty sure I feed my kids really good stuff - well 90% of the tiem anyway! I used to not dish myself up a meal, but I would pick of the plates from the kids leftovers. It's a terrible habit to form & I find it hard to throw food away, so now I am really good at freezing left overs or I scrape the plates off the kids into little freezer bags for Banjo & that has really stopped that habit. I now serve myself up a meal, but I do it on a bread/butter plate, rather than a huge dinner plate.
I had to go around to my sisters place after Kindergym today & she asked my kids if they would like a Happy Meal thingy from Hungry Jacks. Of course they said yes! So I just ordered myself the grilled chicken burger, no fries, no drink, no icecream & I felt so empowered!!!! It was nice to taste something that was junk-like, but I did feel a little blah afterwards. I'm off to a Nutrimetics party tonight, so there is bound to be nibblies there, but I plan on just eating some carrot sticks & celery if there is a dip platter thing. My body isn't craving the nibbly stuff, so I figure to save myself until it does.
Has anybody tried those new Continental Rissoto rice mix thingy's? My kids LOVE them but I haven't got one in the cupboard to figure out the points value in them? I usually spruce them up with some chicken, mushrooms, corn & peas & they are so yummy.

We went to visit daddy at work today, to have lunch... Sam had a lovely day, and I think daddy did too. Me - I'm just exhausted!
DH works with a company that imports cash registers and other point of sale equipment... which includes scales... While walking through the display room on our way out I commented that we should chuck Sam on the scales to see how much he weighs now, and so we did... 10.4kg! I just happened to notice that the scale DH used was good up to 150kg, so I decided to kick my shoes off and jump on myself... 72.2kg.
At last weigh-in Sam was 9.8kg and I was 73.3kg - I've managed to lose nearly twice as much as Sam has gained! I'm so proud of myself, and so damned happy, too! I did it while on 5mg of prednisone and without metformin and without really exercising properly... most importantly, without starving myself and probably with still having a few too many marshmallows in my hot chocolate of a night!
:dance::dance:
It was the motivation I needed... But it is VERY tempting to treat myself to something a little decadent or naughty tonight... Help me stay strong!
Sorry for the self-absorbed post - just so excited! 1.1kg in a week! :)

That is so awesome! you deserve to be proud.
I know how pred can really increase your appetite so if you take everything into account you have done so well.
As for tonight...stay strong! Choose something that is nice but not too naughty. I like to have weis berry sorbet. I just put one scoop in a glass and eat it with a teaspoon. Unlike ice-cream which seems to need a big bowl one scoop seems just enough for sorbet.
-
Good on youBW! That is just fantastic! What a great motivator. Just remember that you're 'naughty' thing tonight could sabotage what you have worked so hard to achieve, so enjoy yourself but don't blow it!
What a fantastic result!!!
-
Good for you Jayne! There is really no need to go completely without is there? You got the junk food experience but didnt have to suffer. I like McDonalds lean beef burger. 5points :)
Yay BW That's fantastic. I'm assuming you weighed with all your clothes on too? I'm sure you actually lost a little more if you last weighed in the nuddie.
We went out for icecream today, met DH after he knocked off early and went to the park. He had the quadruple choc arrangement and I had a calipso. 376kj so not too bad. Havent worked out the points yet..... I find it far more refreshing to have iceblock not icecream and they are better in points. Pasta was DIVINE Mmmmmmmmm.
-
SAZZ _ Loving that he had the chocolate load number & you had the dainty Calypso! Dunno why, but I giggled at that? I would sit there feeling very prim & proper if it were me!
-
BW well done, that is fantastic. Especially on your meds!
Sazz WTG on the iceblock! I'm the same as you - I don't notice any weight changes until they are huge.
Jayne I had the same experience at HJ. They really don't have much in the way of lite meals do they. I felt yucky after as well. Well done on no "extras". I'll admit I had a couple of chips lol. I hear you too, on picking off the kids leftovers. Such a bad habit! My kids go to bed at 6:15 so they tend to eat before I do (when dh isn't home) so I would pick at their food, then wouldn't be hungry for my tea. But I ate it anyway. Such bad habits! Hope you went well with the nibblies. You sounded like you were in the perfect mind frame for a party like that!
Belfie I hope you got some sleep last night! I get bouts of insomnia, I know how frustrating it is!
Krys how did your ankle hold up? I hope it isn't too sore today. GOOD LUCK on getting under 70.5!! So close!
I'm planning on taking the kids on a bike ride this morning so I can jog - I'm finding I'm getting a bit addicted to jogging if that is possible LOL. It's been so long since I've even tried it and now I'm really enjoying it. Even if my face does go bright red lol.
-
Well done this week everyone!
I am back from my holiday and will probably have a gain this week - too much eating and drinking!! Too scared to get on the scales
-
T4M - Thanks for asking! I had one nasty kick to the ankle (unintentional though) which hurt like nothing else. But for the rest of the time it was fine. I even played two games. Went for a cycle this morning to take DS to try a toddler gym class and that was fine too although I definitely wasn't up to my usual cycling speed. lol.
Glad you are enjoying the jogging. I do it once a week but find it really boring. I would like to like it more as it definitely boosts my fitness for soccer. How do motivated joggers enjoy it? Is music the key?
Nai- Hope you had a great holiday. But don't wait too long to jump on the scales. It usually isn't as bad as you think and I have noticed that when I stop looking I start eating. And even if you have put on weight - just think the extra food will have boosted your metabolism and it won't take too long to lose it again :)
Sazz - nice work on the icecream. At least there are lots of good options around in that department. I like the Weis ones - yum!!
-
Krys good to hear the ankle stood up (no pun lol). I don't know why I enjoy jogging so much - maybe it's still a novelty. It's not the music for me because I don't listen to any! I took the kids for a ride and I jogged again this morning, and I'm still buzzing from it now. Maybe that's the part I enjoy??
Welcome back Nai - good luck on the scales!
ETA my other neighbour called over the back fence as I was putting clothes on the line this morning. He said "where have you been working out? You look fantastic!":hooray: (his wife was there with him so it was ok for him to say that lol) Made my day.
-
Time - Those are the kinds of complements that really mean something because you know it's a genuinely noticed one. Wish I liked jogging - I have these grand aspirations of jogging and then I start and it's really hard and it hurts my back, hips, boobs (from the jigglin) then I get a stitch after 2 minutes which no other excercise does to me so I dunno, I must run weird, so then I stop and walk - lame hey.
I'm joining Belfie on the sleep deprivation front - Elly been vomiting and diarrhoea all last night caught from my nephews my poor bubba, made me want to cry seeing her all sick and pale but still full of smiles between bouts :-(
AFM - Well, as DH says "the painters are in town" AF arrived today and am 100g down from weigh-in day and considering last month was 2kg up on AF day from fluid I am hoping maybe that means I will see a nice loss when she's left town again.
-
No jogging for this little black duck either. With the arthritis I have to stick to seriously low impact... and last weight loss effort was done completely without exercise as well. Makes me feel even better when I think about my weight loss last week, but also means I have to be REALLY strict with my food intake. Drooling at the thought of that calippo, Sazz! Thought it would be off the meno, but no fat and only 21g of carbs (all sugar, though!) and under 100 calories... could probably manage it. But I shall be strong and go have some strawberries!

Hello beautiful girls :hello: cricky there are so many posts to read! you girls are so dedicated which is fantastic! Don't you just love the compliments when people notice a change :D
Can't remember who was talking about the sweeteners? I don't really add sugar to anything I make, I use honey or I love stevia in a hot choc because it's 0 calories and good for you ;)
DH has been on leave for the last 12 days and we've been in the garden heaps!!! today I have done so much my knee is swollen :( not sure what the scales will say on Monday but I know there probably wont be any more working out for me until then... Everyone else sounds like they will have a loss "yippy"
