smcgt - well done on the weight loss
just make sure that you set up the healthy eating habits now (and exercise when shcool hols are over) so that you can maintain the weight loss.
also when the tablets are out of your system, a couple of apples a day are not going to cut it and you will be hungry, you need to make sure that you have a plan as to what you can snack on during the day and have meals planned... the first month off them you wil probably be ok, but after that it will be harder, especially as your metabloism has slowed, the weight will go back on quicker as you body will still be in 'starvation mode'...

    well done once again

I wish losing weight was as easy as taking duromine...

Yet the OP wanted positive stories - the weight melts off.

    Cool ninaaa

    Hi all,

Oshani, I have been reading through the above comments and suggestions, and was just wondering since your original post, have you taken duromine, and if so, how did you go with it? how much have you lost etc?

I have been on duromine for about a week now. on the first day, i took the tablet very early in the morning and i felt abit jittery through out the day, but since, i have been fine. I have not had any trouble with sleeping so i guess i am one of the lucky ones...
i lost 1.5 kilos in the first 2 days and nothing more since...

i am trying to lose as much weight as possible by mid Jan for my engagement (i know i started late but normal exercise and healthy food habits just didnt help me...).

I have also been using the Celebrity Slim shakes for b/fast and lunch, and then a proper meal for dinner, plus afew "healthy" snacks in between meals... Does anyone know if using both of these measures to try lose weight is ok, or not?

    Any info will be great!

    p.s Merry Xmas!

Posting about duromine in a positive way......

I have taken duromine before and lost weight from it.

Combined with an intense exercise program because I had so much energy (training almost twice a day every day) I went from approx 85Kg to 67Kg with excellent muscle tone, abs, etc.

I liked duromine as a weight loss tool as it gave me the energy to get off my lazy butt and also stopped me from all the snacking that I use to do.

The most important thing that I didnt do and what others said you should do was eat. I use to survive on 2 fish fingers a day or maybe a handful of saltanas. Not really the picture of heath!!

The other side effect that I had to deal with was the feeling of being smashed all the time (it is the same thing as speed so it was like I was clubbing in my head everyday). Driving became a little dangerous so I had to make sure that I would get sleep at night. I ended up taking mersyndol night time tablets to put me to sleep at night or the codral night time tabs. (Not a great way to deal with the side effects but it did work, wouldnt recommend ever doing that again).

I can remember cleaning out tupperware drawers and things like that at 3am in the morning!!! crazy but very productive.

Having said that, I wouldnt hesitate to take it again (obviously when I am not pregnant or breastfeeding). I know that it is not the safest way to lose weight but combining it with a healthy eating plan and using the extra energy you get from it to exercise then it works.

Meegm- your doctor will probably take your bp as well as if you have high bp h wont prescribe it so dont go in there all stressed, etc.

    doudou,
My DH got a prescription a week ago for 30mg (30 tablets) and it was $111.95 from our overpriced chemist. Our PHI refunded us $50.

I just checked Chemist Warehouse, and for the 30mg, they charge $91.99.

    Hi Nick

I found that after 2 weeks the Duromine took away my hunger completely, so I decided that I would open the capsule and take half, keeping the other half for the next day. By doing this I had a small appetite and my script lasted 6 weeks. SO if you calculate $95 by weeks it doesn't seem sooooo expensive.

    Good luck

I used them last year so I could trim down for my wedding.

They totally worked!! Prob was that my Dr should not have given them to me considering was def within my healthy weight range, so I ended up losing too much weight!! I lost 12kgs in about 3.5 months. I had no problems sleeping and wasn't really crankier than usual but I was really stressed with the wedding so don't know if that was made worse by duromine or not.

I was on the 25mg (Think that's what it was!) and if I ever have problems losing weight will DEF use them again cause I know they work!!! After I stopped using them I slowly gained weight again... not rapidly and it was needed weight!! So you do need to be sure to have a plan for after you stop taking it! It helps to budge the weight but it's up to you to keep it off!!

Well this is my first time on duromine and i have taken my second tablet this morning. My mouth is really dry and i am drinking allllll the time. I feel a little light headed sometimes not dizzy but light headed if that makes sense!!!! Woke up this morning about 2am and could not go back to sleep till about 5am, but feel ok this morning. I too will let you all know how i go with this. I have had no other side effect but its only my second day on it. My appetite yesterday seemed to be the same as normal, but this morning for breakfast i had to force myself to eat some cereal and i only ate about a quarter of what i would normally. I would LOVE to lose atleast 10kg!!! Heres hoping
Anyway good luck every one and i will keep you posted.

    Duro

I know all about the dry mouth. It's like a cotton ball is in your mouth sucking out all the fluid.
I haven't got it as bad this time, I didn't sleep to good the first night, but last night I slept pretty well.
I remember last time getting cranky, but then i was not happy in my relationship, but now that that is over, I will hopefully not be as cranky.

I take Duromine at the moment, but not for weight loss. When i first got these it was for weight loss, but i stopped taking them as they made me a little 'aggressive' with everyone. Like really snappy. BUT, they made me GO... i just got so much done!!!

In feb this year when we had to move so quickly, i found the packet of duromine in a cupboard and decided to use it to get through that period while i was moving. They worked and did a fantasic job in getting me going.... BUT the side affect i had/am having is a life saver!

I suffer with Psoriasis. It is VERY bad, basically all over me. Have tried many different treatment's none of which have done anything.

Within 2 week's of taking Duromine, it was in remission.

After a few week;s of taking them and once we had moved, i saw a dr and asked her if it was the duromine that was doing this to my Psoriasis. She said it couldnt be and it must be something else.

So as i test i stopped, for 2 week's and yep.. it slowly started building back up. I have now been back on them since the weekend and instantly the plaque's are falling off and staying away.

I dont know why as a side affect Duromine is doing this... but i intend on trying to find out, but in the mean time i dont care - it is the first time in 3 years i have had any relief and didnt have to use some form of steroid cream!!!!!!!!

Oh and they dont affect me the way they did last time, as in im not aggressive so... i dunno what that was about!
So, anyway... apart from that side affect... i dont have any issue's with them.
