Well, DH and DD gave me my mother's day present early - the wii fit plus game. I got so bored with the original wii fit game because you only get limited exercises and the rest unlock after you spend a certain amount of time doing things. With wii fit plus everything is unlocked and more. I've set up a 22 minute yoga workout which is great. I love doing the cycling, great for the butt!
I'm gonna try to go to the gym before or after work, I just don't think in this new job I'll be able to go at lunchtime as easily.

    Great present Danni!

I did 10 mins on the bike last night, plus some sit ups, push ups and a few arm weights.

I think my back is out though as the sit ups were hurting in the middle of my back and then I got woken up around 5am with back pain and had to take some pain killers

Think I'll skip the sit ups until I can see the physio or chiro...

Going to get into the garden over the weekend, so will be sure to get some major exercise in there! Got Kykuyu (not sure how to spell it!) grass in the backyard which we're slowly pulling out and replacing with garden beds. It can be quite intense exercise!

MG - how's it all going? Hows your pain?

Winter - Nice workout! Have you always been a runner? How did you work up to running? I so wish I could at least jog but I'm so unfit, not to mention my pelvis is still not quite right so don't want to push it yet. But I would say being able to run 5km would be a good goal to have

    daniellabella - awesome present!

I didn't get a walk in today but did chase DS around the park (Faulkner park for those in Perth). Chased him up and down the steps of the volcano as he kept wanting to go on the slides.

Was naughty and had pizza for dinner, been a tiring couple of days with DD now teething. Hoping to get some exercise in over the weekend.

Hey Eluned, sorry your pelvis is still playing up. You'll be running eventually, I'm going to put 'run 5km' as your goal in the fitness goals thread. I've never, ever been a runner & I wouldn't call myself a runner still. I've only been running really since January and only these longer distances this last month. The one thing that has really helped me is to think about my breathing, get that under control and to run with a group. The group keeps me going because running is a mental game, the physical side of running is much easier than making your head keep your legs moving. I'm also not a very fast runner and if I am starting to get puffed, I drop back a gear, but still running, not walking! Then when I'm ready, I pick the pace up again. And having a goal to where you want to run to is really important for your head too.

PS. I'll come & run with you whenever you're ready!

Eluned - I'm so sorry you're still hurting babe. But do take it easy so you continue to move forward and not backwards. Which state are you in? There is a brilliant website for pelvic instability - google it and it should come up. A friend of mine is on the board for it and gave me some great information recently about pelvic instability and strengthening the core. There is a physiotherapy method called real time ultrasound which is an ultrasound that targets the muscle you have to learn to use. You can see if you are actually engaging it or not instead of guessing. It is used in conjunction with clinical pilates. To strengthen your core properly, you need to work from the inside muscles, out. There is a lady who specialises in pelvic instability and uses real time ultrasound in Essendon - I can get the name if you like.

Awesome present Dan! I am regretting getting rid of my Wii with all the new things out!

Winter, I am in AWE of your running - keep it up!

Nettie - I am sorry to hear about your back. It might be worth getting someone to observe your technique for sit ups and push ups to make sure you're doing them correctly. In all honesty, it is probably the push ups and not the sit ups that hurt.

As for me - I've been doing little bits here and there. I have had a lot of rest time since I had my relapse. D and I have backed right off back and leg work which is disappointing but I know it is a necessity. My arms are getting a massive workout. I am getting disgruntled that my upper body is way out of proportion with my lower body though.

Ive just come back from a weekend away with the dreaded in-laws. I ate too much bad food and drank WAAAAAAY too much. I feel like I've put on a couple of kilo's! BLERG. I did a little workout last night. Got DH to box with me which was just infuriating - he couldn't follow my instructions and so was not a good boxing partner at all! I gave up in the end - I wasn't at all satisfied with my cardio! I then did the resistance stuff D had prescribed for me whilst away... but I forgot to take it with me to where I selected to train so I had to go from memory and forgot a few But my arms are sore so that is good!

I also did plenty of swimming. This morning there was a couple of other people doing laps and MIL felt she needed to tell me when I was in the spa that I was kicking ass - overtaking people doing laps (IL's had come to watch DD in the pool). I shrugged her comment off pretending I didn't care... but really I was chuffed and knew I had been overtaking! I am so competative sometimes! The spa really helped relax my back and I've felt brilliant in the respect the last few days. I also did some walking in the water which was odd. It made me realise a few weak areas I will tell physio and D about.

No training for me tonight - I'm having a rest day. Although I should considering I just ate KFC for dinner!

What the the Wii Fit like Danni? Do you use it much?

Hey Eluned, hope your pelvis stabilises soon. It sounds like you are moving around so any movement is great.

Ahhh Winter..The Running Girl You are so right about the breathing, it's helped me heaps with Attack and Combat.

MG: Swimming is great. Does is help with your injuries? I did water Mum's when I was pregnant and it was great excersise. I want to box with DH too as I can't get to the Thump classes. DH thinks it's funny , so I think I should push the issue and he can see what I really can do with a pair of gloves on

AFM: I had a kick around with DS1 on the weekend. Had a lovely weekend off, now back into it again with Combat on Wednesday and Attack on Sunday.

Hope everyone else is travelling well.

Heather, my DH was the same. And he thought it was "**** easy"... then he boxed with me. I had the BEST abdo workout because I was so much! He couldn't remember the combo's, his technique was shocking and he didn't like me correcting him! Even though I explained we needed to have it right so no one got injured! He was also surprised by my skill and what I've achieved in my PT sessions! He wasn't too worried about leaving me to finish my training session in the dark (lit area though) after boxing!

I'm on a little break. My arms are killing me and I have a head cold All I've wanted to do today is sleep - especially since I didn't have much sleep last night. The bed I slept in whilst away was AWESOME! But it made me realise just how bad my bed at home is... so we spent today trying to find a new base (we have slats)... seriously, by the end of the day I was almost in tears because of the ordeal! We couldn't find the right bed in the right price range. Several we liked we'd have to wait 6 or so weeks for delivery... one wasn't going to be delivered to the STORE until August!!! WAH! By the last store, I was seriously in tears. We finally agreed on a bed only to be told they didn't have it in stock! I seriously nearly cried! Then when she said another store had it (high delivery price) I was so happy... until I found out it wouldn't be delivered until the weekend at the earliest! NOOOOOO! I seriously couldn't sleep in the old bed any more! THEN, she said the manager there owed them big and would deliver it tonight! OMG! Seriously, tears rolled down my face!!! But we were doubting whether the bed would help or if we needed to replace the mattress as well... but it is here, set up, and it feels AWESOME! I am actually looking forward to bed tonight! Hopefully it helps with my back!

I have PT tomorrow... not looking forward to it with the cold...

MG - you rock! Although it's never a good idea to do exercise when you're sick - rest is the best thing for you now!

Heather - Zumba looks awesome! DH and I have considered getting the DVD's, so I'd love to hear what you think (if you end up going).

AFM - I went for a walk this morning and plan on doing so EVERY morning. Now that I've posted that, I'll HAVE to do it! Felt really good and set me up well for the day!

Nettie: I found out at gym yesterday they are starting Zumba in June. They are training 3 instructors and will be holding the classes in the evenings and move to days if demand is high enough. I am really just curious as I can't dance for anything

MG: I did a Thump class once and my partner mentioned that she wouldn't want to meet me in a dark alley...I am small so that was very reasurring That same Thump class a friend had just separted from her cheating husband so she had a lot of anger, she nearly punched someone in the mouth she was trying so hard and in the zone to get out her frustration
I hope you are feeling better.

I did Combat yesterday, the instructor is really mixing it up with old and newish stuff. They are having a new release of on the 22nd May at the gym of a new Combat routine so she is taking the opportunity to throw anyting at us at the moment...loving it!
I didn't do Attack on Sunday, we went for a walk and I had a kick of the footy and soccer ball with DS1, so I got moving.
So back to Attack again on Sunday.

    Go Winter!!!! You are awesome!!!!

Awesome Nettie!!!! Let me know how you go! It looks so much fun!

Heather - Good to hear you doing so well!!!!

As for me, I did a 30 min session last night on my treadmill. I did a trial jog for around 2 minutes. I was surprised at how easy it felt! I had a little discomfort on the left glute as I was running but that was eased with an adjustment in my posture. I wasn't tired easily nor did I get the leg pain. It was awesome! I only stopped because I didn't want to push too hard. I did feel it at the end though. After my session (including squats, plank, crunches etc) I had trouble bringing knees to chest on my back as well as bending. I took some digesic before bed and had an awesome sleep. This morning I was a little tender but ok. Throughout the day I've had some small issues but I am still a million times better than previously!!!! So excited! But I won't be doing it too often just yer... still building those muscles!

I did 22 mins (10km) of bike riding on the wii last night. My legs were slightly jelly-like when I finished, felt great. Also did some hula hoop and a bit of yoga at the end for stretching. I still want to go to the gym because I'm paying for it (though, not paying much). I think it's great though that some bright spark invented a video game machine that actually gets you off the couch and active...but I did eat a 1/4 family size block of Old Gold chocolate after I finished on the wii.

I would have eaten the whole thing but I only had 1/4 of it left coz I'd been eating it the night before.

I've started measuring myself. Gonna try to do that each month. That's the other great thing about the wii fit plus - I can record my waste measurements.
