i just got my stuff from kmart (a while ago though). i just wear 3/4 tights and a muscle kinda shirt (ya know without sleeves). sometimes i wear one of those tight fitting gym tops (only cheapies from target etc).

Lorna jane looks good, is expensive and doesnt really cater fro size16 and over! :-(

did attack again this morning. i am starting to do a more of the higher options but still take breaks with the low and middle options. its a different class to step in that it goes a lot quicker. in step i find i am always watching the clock and counting down tracks til finish but with attack even though it is harder it goes quicker. strange.

i am feeling better now on the tummy bug front. i am hoping i dont put on those 2 kg again just cause i am now eating properly again.

    Hi Everyone!

Winter: I got my stuff (I only have one set at the moment) at Rebel, Addidas 3/4 and a not quite singlet. I like the Lorna Jane casual wear. You could try one of the dance shops like Bloch they quite often have nice gym stuff too. Good luck with the fun run.

MG: Well done on the Waistline! I love boxing too. Hope you get your PT sorted soon, or are you going to keep them both?

Hollooooo, woo hoo on 2kg! I love Attack. I must say that I like it when he says last song and only 3sets to go, I usually lose my co-ordination by the end ,not that I had alot to start with

Eluned: Ouch! Hope it get's better soon. I haven't done bikram yoga, just normal yoga (not sure what it was). They have a new yoga that has started here in my local Shopping Centre, called Hot Yoga? Not sure if that's the correct name. It's where you do yoga in a hot room for about and hour and it's supposed to really tough.

So this week I did attack on Sunday, very hard and just did a Cardio Circuit this morning. She mixed it up today which was great, so boxing, skipping, weights, running , push ups, lunges and tummy.
I think Attack was a newish one too, he is probably going to change it again in two weeks. I like the music he has at the moment

It's school holidays next week and DH is actually going to be home So I should (but will I???) take advantage of that and go to the gym alot more often. Will see how I go.

I hope everyone else is still going strong and enjoying their workouts, whatever they may be.

I went to Harbourtown today (after Circuit of course! No skipping gym for shopping in this household!) and found exactly what I wanted - plain black 3/4 leggings - for $45 each which was a good price after going through Adidas & Nike & Converse & Jim Kidd sport & Lorna Jean where everything that was even remotely what I wanted was $70 and over - so bought 3 pairs I also bought a gym top with built in support but only because it was the right price and did the job without looking too serious. There was a bright orange Nike top that I thought might be good for the running group later on for visibility...might have to go back!

Hot yoga sounds horrible Heather! Are you going to have a go? Is it like a sauna hot room or just a moderately hottish room room that makes you sweat? You'll have to tell us about it if you do have a go, I'm intrigued and repulsed!! (I hate saunas!)

Heather - my friend does that kind of yoga. She SWEARS by it. The theory is that the heat makes your muscles more supple and less likely to injure. It also means you can achieve a more effective stretch and therefore get the best possible benefit from it. Well done on your workout!

Nettie - we must have posted at the same time the other day! Good to see you in here! Sorry to hear you've done your back again My physio also has me do pelvic floor stuff to strengthen my back. I highly recomend clinical pilates for back injuries. I've said it before (and I'll say it a MILLION more times! ) it is what has been my saving grace with my injury - which is pretty bad! How did you go at the gym walk around?!

Winter: I have an old pair of gym pants from Target. I love Lorna Jane but they don't make anything to fit me I have found good shirts at Crossroads believe it or not!!!! But I think it all depends on what you like and what you prefer... Well done on your finds at Harbourtown!

AFM: nothing new since I last posted. Oh, I had NO discomfort at all yesterday! Normally I always have a niggle after PT with D so to be pain free was awesome!!!! No PT last night for me as DH had to do a Uni assignment so I had to watch DD... but then DH bought her a trampoline so put that up and I had to keep her out of the way Then she bounced on that for a bit. Then after she went to bed I had to work on a job app! Nothing today either as am on late shift and don't train before work as that usually results in crap shifts and me not being able to move for a few days! haha. Will train after work tomorrow and then have PT with A Sat am and then will train at home Sunday. Very pleased to announce that despite my bad intake last week, I am STILL sitting at 107.3Kg!!! Considering when I weighed myself last week I was 109, I am thrilled at yesterday's scales! It means that extra 2Kg was just fluid or AF and NOT fat increase! RELIEF! Now to get it down further!!!! My next goal is 105Kg, then 100, then to be under 100!!!!!!!!! The last time I was under 100, I was 98Kg and it was the month before I got pregnant with DD!!!!!

Rightio, off to see if my friend has sent me back my resume and get ready for work!!!!

    Have a great day girls!

P.S. I have decided that I am going to do a pump class!!!!! BUT, I need advice. Having never done it before and with a back injury... I need to know if this is a good idea or not! My physio wasn't thrilled but agreed that if I kept it at no more than 1Kg weights for the whole time for the first few sessions, and promised to use correct technique, I can try when I'm ready... but what do I do? I don't want to draw attention to myself and not comfortable telling the instructor about my injury... I want to be a wall flower! hahaha. Advice? Lisa? CQ?

the first few times i ever did pump i used 1kg on each side. i dont have a back injury but i think that if it is something you want to do it should be ok. keep to the minimum weight until you suss it out and of course try to get the technique right. (thats my opinion and i have no training or experience with injury or PT though) CONGRATS on your weight loss!!!

i went to the gym this arvo to do pump and they had changed the timetable.. there was something called boxfit on. i freaked out a bit.. but went through with it and it was really good actually. i dont think i am going to be able to move my arms tomorrow though!

You inspire me Leesa!! I don't know how you fit everything in your life that you have going on and still manage to exercise your way to 30kg + weight loss!! I love checking in and letting you know what I've been up to for the week because I know that you're keeping an eye out and you're interested and I love sharing that feeling / love of exercise with you.

    :yeahthat:

Leesa - you are SUCH an inspiration to me! You have NO IDEA how much you inspire others! YOU ROCK!

Thanks Hollo... still not doing classes yet though... need a few more weeks.

PT with A this morning. AWESOME session! Esp since I was so tired! He worked me so hard I was inwardly groaning at several points! Like when he made me do walking lunges and every time I reached the end of the gym room, he'd say "now turn around do it again"! But I loved it! Didn't love the step ups so much - I worry they are bad for my back! BUT, he let me try the xtrainer again! At first it was just 90 sec, then another stint of 90 sec. then he said, "ok, you look like you're pretty comfortable, keep going"! He let me go to 4 minutes before he pulled me off! Double Considering the xtrainer has been so hard for me (back) that I got banned because of the damage it was doing (more so, what I was doing because I refused to listen to my body), I am STOKED! It is AWESOME!!!

I have cancelled PT on Tuesday with D because I have a job interview and just can't do any other time (also have a house inspection I have to prep for). And finances are a little tight this week. So I cancelled. He isn't too happy - I think he thinks I'm quiting. But I just can't do it! So told him that. Plus, an interview, house inspection, PT, and pilates is just TOO MUCH in the one day! I will still do a workout at home though!

    How is everyone else doing?!?!

Re: Fitness chat and tips #2

Heather, yeah hot yoga sounds like bikram. It's basically Hatha yoga (26 poses) in a room heated to 40 degrees. I have a you tube link somewhere that explains it really well, will see if I can dig it up.

As for workout gear I haven't bought anything for about a year and a half. Been wearing the same stuff! I like 3/4 pants and tees. I've got a great pair of Nike shorts that have a layer inside which draws away moisture.

Haven't been walking much because it seems to aggravate my pelvis. Might give the cross trainer a go as it's very, very low impact. All I've been doing is lots of pelvic floor and a few exercises the physio gave me (clamshells, donkey kicks and reverse bridges) which all aim to strengthen my butt lol

Can't wait to get back into decent exercise. I'm getting better with my eating but need that extra exercise to make a difference. I've set a mini goal to lose 4kg by DS's birthday in 6 weeks. Does that sound achievable?

Eluned - just take it very easy on the xtrainer when you start. the motion required by the hip on the xtrainer can be painful if you have back and hip problems. So just take it very slowly to start with!!! But, as a seasoned injured person, check with your physio first to make sure it's ok to trial it. You don't want to set yourself back. When I initially injured myself, I kept ignoring my medical team (GP, Osteo, Physio, Trainer) who were all telling me to take it easy and let myself heal before returning to running... and I ignored them. I got much much worse! If I had listened to them, I probably would have been back running 4 months ago... instead, I'll be lucky to be running by Christmas this year!!!! So do just take it easy...

Just a quick one from me (on my way to the shower!)...

MG - yeah! We must have! I've got the gym walkaround tomorrow at lunchtime - so I'll let you know what I thought.

Not much going on here... but DH and I had a good talk during Earth Hour (when neither of us were plugged in to anything - TV, Xbox, Computer, etc) and we are going to buy a new exercise bike any recommendations welcomed! We're after something relatively cheap that shows us how far we've gone (so we can set a goal of 5 kms or 10 kms, etc) Not sure what else to look for! All seats are uncomfortable to me, so nothing to look for there...

Anyway - got to go. Market's on this morning and I gotta get showered and ready to go!

Hey Winter..Boxing is fantastic! I love the Thump class Definitely worth spending the $6 so dollars on your on cotton inners

Hollo: No Zumba down here in Vic? What is it?? I did pump on Monday for the first time in a very long time so I used the 1kg and 2.5kg weights. Used the 1kg most of the time and the just the 2.5kg when she said to put more on.

Leesa: Glad you popped in to keep an eye on us

MG: How did the job interview go? You are doing so well considering you have a pretty bad injury, your attitude is amazing!

Nettie: Good luck on the excersise bike purchase. Have you tried any at a gym that you liked? What did you think of the gym you walked around?

Eluned: I reckon your goal is very achievable, just a better diet and walking would be able to get that for you I think, I am not professional though.

My week so far has been great. I did Pump on Monday for the first time in agers! It was great.
My cardio circuit has now gone back to Combat again. So that was my Wednesday class. I was just getting into the swing of cardio circuit too and loved how intense it was! Combat was great too. My DH is on leave so I have been taking advantage and going when I can. Will take a break over Easter.

Hope everyone has a Safe and Happy Easter

MG - ta on the xtrainer tips, I haven't managed to get on it yet, thought I would just wait a bit longer.

Nettie - not sure on an exercise bike, but I have an Infiniti xtrainer which does all the numbers and it's great!

Winter - awesome on the boxing, sounds like it would be fun!

Hollo - i've only ever seen the Zumba on those morning shows where they are selling the DVDs. Looks like it would be fun but I can't justify the price of the DVDs.

Heather - thanks, I hope I do achieve it. Chocolate over Easter is going to be my downfall! Plus I ate cake on my birthday last week (but that's allowed right? ).

Went back to the physio yesterday and my pelvis is feeling alot better. Still sore at times but at least I am no longer on the verge of crippling over when I stand up! I can get out of bed virtually painfree now So I'm strapped one last time and now that things are settling down, my physio has given me the go ahead to start back at pilates to restrengthen my core which will further help with the pelvic pain. So no I just need to work out which class I'll go to and whether I'll need to express for DD. Today, I also walked to playgroup and back which is a 3.6km round trip. I've been recording my walks on Runkeeper which is an iphone app and it's great as it keeps all your stats (distance, time, speed, etc) and maps your route!

We ended up buying an exercise bike when we went out for a walk on Monday night! Then I picked it up Tuesday lunchtime and it's still in the box

I might try to get it together tonight or tomorrow so we can give it a go! It was on special and had everything we decided we wanted (easy to move around, shows how far you've gone and how many calories you've burned) - plus more!

Didn't like the gym - was made to feel silly right from the start when she asked me if I wanted to change I said 'no, I just asked to be shown around'. So the guy I spoke to hadn't relayed any of our conversation to the girl I saw... grr. And she didn't seem to know what to do with me. She showed me the rooms and areas and then went through the price list with me. She was able to answer my questions though - so that was good. But I won't be starting up there.

DH and I are intending to motivate each other at home (hopefully). The new bike will help this!

Leesa - maybe I need to pay you to be my PT for a session or two to help us work out a routine!

Hello lovelies! Sorry I've been MIA for a bit I had another relapse and got the sulks... But I'm back!

Nettie - have you opened that box yet?! Come on! I want to hear how awesome that bike is!!! Bikes are a great way to work your tummy and butt! As soon as my hip, hip flexor, and back can take it, I'm getting mine out!

Eluned - how are you doing hon? How is your injury? Have you gotten on the Xtrainer yet? How is physio? How did you go with Chocolate over Easter?

Heather - well done on your week! How are you travelling at the moment? Thanks for asking about my interview. I kicked a$$ - even if I say so myself! They did reference checks before the end of last week but haven't heard yet. I'm not taking it though for a whole host of reasons including unrprofessionalism, a bullying culture, and insufficient (read NO) support for professional development despite it being a pre0requisite each year to prove we have undertaken professional development and can be refused re-registration if we haven't! Soooo not a good place to work! And their focus is heavily on $ and not on patient welfare which does NOT sit well with me!

Hollo - have you tried Zumba? I've seen ads for the DVD and think it looks fun! I used to be a dancer so it does appeal to me. But I've not seen any advertised classes around here.

Winter - how are you doing hon? I'm so glad you enjoyed your boxing class!!! Have you been back?! I'd love to do my trainers boxing class... except that whole group thing and the fact I'm not ready yet... more rehab first!

CQ - how are you doing hon?

    Leesa? How are you travelling?

AFM - well, I had a bit of a relapse a week and a half ago. After my last post actually. The next day I was a mess and it got worse! I could hardly move at times and I was spasming. It was a nightmare. I actually had to take all of my pain meds which left me zonked on Monday! So I was very glad to have cancelled my Tues session with D! Although he did give me a bit of a hard time for cancelling (but I blame myself because before he went on leave I made him promise not to let me quit). So I booked a session with him for Thurs - I had the choice of training with A or D as both could train me. But I thought D would be more gentle on my body considering the relapse. I wish I hadn't have gone!
He DID give me a pretty gentle session in comparison to A and it wasn't the work that gave me grief. It was him. He made some comments that put me offside and upset me. And he made me go down to the free weights section amongst the meat heads - which is a BIG thing for me. I have NEVER done it. EVER. For very good reason (which he knows about). I was so not able to deal with it and I was so upset with him for doing it. I was so close to tears several times during the session and I nearly walked out a few times because of HIM. After the day I had had at work, and the occassion of the day - I shouldn't have gone. I should have cancelled. but I didn't. Workout wise, I was so off. The only good thing was I did 4.5 min on the xtrainer which is an improvement on my last one with A. But it did hurt my hip. But I had entered what my friends and D call "punishment and self destruct mode" and kept going. I did that during a couple of exercises. Which annoyed him and annoyed me. And I still did it! I was lucky I pulled up ok on Friday!

sat I did a home session and actually did something pretty norty. I ran Ok, Leesa - don't kill me! I KNOW I'm not suppose to run. I KNOW it's bad for me right now. I KNOW I'll regret it. But I did it! It was a short run. REALLY short! About 2 minutes. I was doing a 30 min session on my treadmill and I got to this point I just felt I needed to run... I haven't felt that way for a long time! So I did. Stupid considering my recent relapse... but I did it! It hurt a little but not like it used to - in severity or type of pain... but I stopped when it hurt... and continued to walk at an incline. Then I did lunges, push ups, crunches, and prone hold. I was aching (in a good way) the next day! And I was VERY surprised that my back, hip, and left leg were totally fine from the run!!!!

Sun I did nothing as I was away.

Yesterday, I did another 30 min treadmill session which was refreshing although I didn't feel exhausted by it. Then I did about 40 lunges, about a million (ok, maybe not a million, but it felt like a million!) crunches on my fitball targeting different ab areas, then I did 24 push ups, and about 4 or 5 lots of the prone hold! When I went to bed, my abs were complaining! YES! Today, I feel great!

No PT today. I told D on Thursday I wasn't training today. I am going to pilates though...

Today I was approached in the shopping centre by someone promoting their PT business. I will admit I instantly looked around to see if D was watching somewhere I feel guilty for looking into other trainers. This lady has a Uni degree and also 6 years experience and specialises in injuries. I have a voucher for a free PT session and they also have onsite creche things or can include DD in my session! So I wil look at her website and maybe give her a go... Thoughts Leesa?

That's enough waffle from me!!!!! Keep active girls!
