I was lost with the 2 week disapperance. I have joined a PT mums group, the first 2 weeks were ok, but I think the PT was trying to kill me last week, boy Wednesday my legs were killing me from the squats and the boxing. I am feeling fitter, hopefully I will be able to add some more walking now that the Canberra weather is getting nicer.

Well, I'm back to annoy you all! There is NO escaping me now! I have an evil evil plan!

But first, I've had a week off for various reasons. Mostly my motivation went out the window. And I was sore after my fall in the gym. I had another one this week doing the same stupid exercise! I still have a bee in my bonnet over various issues so please bare with me as I process through them over the comming weeks.

Welcome to those who are new here!

Christy, I'm so glad that you joined a gym. Enjoy it! I hear you on the BMI thing. I actually don't agree with the whole BMI thing. For a whole heap of reasons. But you get yourself to a point where you are happy.

Leesa, I hope the evening sickness resolves soon honey. It sucks! Big time! How are you going with your own goals? To keep exercising?

Tan - keep at it hon. When you're tired and can't be bothered - remind yourself how great you will feel afterwards! As bizarre as it sounds, you will feel more energized after a workout!

Mayness, Zumba seems to be popular. But is it just a craze? I don't know. I think it needs a little more time before we can make that call! Itis being introduced at my gym but I'm not feeling the desire to go yet!

Sooooooo I've got my motivation back. I have a goal! I feel fantastic! It's not just my standard weight loss and fitness garb that I've been prattling on about for the last 18 months - it is a career choice! I've decided to return to study. I'm in the process of researching my options still - which venue will be best for me and so forth. But it also means that I REALLY need to get myself in appropriate condition! I am very very excited!!! And it means that you Melb girls had better beware!!! I WILL be calling for volunteers!!! But that is all I can say right now! I am still convincing DH about the cost. It is a little expensive... but still half the cost of furthering my nursing education with a post grad qual!

    I've been a little absent - sorry

My legs are really sore today from a very vigorous yoga last night.. as are my arms, but I can hardly feel them for the ache in my thighs!

I really want to start my walking again in the mornings, and I think I might have figured out a way (thanks to Leesa!).. so stay tuned for that update

to everyone. I'm overwhelmed by how many we have now, so I won't do names...

MG, woohoo! So the further study is in relation to the fitness industry??! How exciting!!

I've had a nasty cold (flu?) this past week. The kids have been sick too and all I've wanted to do is sit on the couch. So no exercise for me this week and I have eaten terribly and we've gotten takeaway a couple of times because I've been out of routine and haven't felt like cooking. Getting myself back on track over the next few days because my 12 week body transformation challenge kicks off on Monday. I have to weigh in and do my measurements tomorrow. I've got my meal plans and shopping list and my exercise plan for the first week. It all seems very exciting and I can't wait to start.

One thing, I'm trying to work out though is milestones. I'm supposed to have 2 mini milestones - 1 at the end of 4 weeks, 1 at 8 weeks and then a major milestone at the end of the 12 weeks. My first mini milestone I've set is to run 3km without stopping. But I'm not sure what to set for 8 weeks and the hardest one to think of is the major milestone. I was going to say run 5km as my second mini milestone (8 weeks), but that is my 3 month goal. Am I aiming too low? Should I be able to run 5km at 8 weeks? I have been toying with the idea of doing a triathlon as my major milestone but I'm **** scared! I'm not really a swimmer. Could I learn to swim enough in 12 weeks to get me through a triathlon?

5km for 8 weeks sounds great Eluned & I agree that you need something more for 12 weeks. Are there any tri's coming up with shorter swims around 200m? I bet there is a Perth triathlon club/ group that would have a list....

PS, I'm keen for that run!

    everyone

Im back into the swing of things again...J man being away for almost a week totally killed me and I really had to get out tonight and have some space. I was shocked that I wasnt falbbergastered and out of breath doing my normal routine seeing I had the time off.

Hope everyone if going great guns...bring on the warmer weather for more outside time

Winter, ive been having a look on the tri events website and there is the pink triathlon on 7 nov which ties in perfectly for my 8 week milestone, but if I do a tri for that, what on earth will I do for my major 12 week finale milestone? There are three events in the pink tri:

    300m swim/9km ride/3km run
    200m swim/6km ride/2km run
    100m swim/3km ride/1km run

The swimming leg concerns me as I'm not very good but am considering getting swimming lessons. I'm thinking the 200/6/2 could be achievable in 8 weeks, yeah?

ETA:yes, I'm keen for a run too I'm just rather nervous because what if I run for like 100 meters and then fall over or somethin or run so slow that you're practically walking and thinking sheesh this girl sucks at running!

well weighed in thismorning.... lost 1/2 kg this week woo hoo

Maz yea i hadnt been in there for ages either but popped in the other day to see how they were going... was amazed and excited for them, babies everywhere its such a stressful road to head down.

Thinking of starting swimming, its one thing I can do with a couple of heated pools close by so will look into that next week and will just try and keep up the walking and see how i go. My little girl was sick a couple of weeks ago and now I cant even go to the "loo" without her :0

Well done to everyone else your all doing a fantastic job.

    Hello lovelies!!

I've been slack this week - I've got low blood pressure and I've been feeling a bit off. However did a mini hike today and I seemed ok. I have backed off exercise this week, and even last week too - for the low bp; but I've also lost about 3 kgs, and I'm actually not wanting to lose weight (for a change lol). Its hard when I can't keep food down to get energy lol! Funny about that?!?!

I think as the kidlets are in bed I might use this time to do a Body Attack (low impact) session whilst I feel good!

Will be back for personals soon!

Eluned, I reckon that is a really achievable goal for 8 weeks. You could still have a 5km non-stop run for your 12 weeks? or push it out and say 8km? or 10km? And seriously, don't worry about running slowly. Can I just quote you something out of the fabulous running book that Leesa sent me that has stuck in my mind and keeps me going? "Runners must learn to compete with themselves and not against anyone else. If they race against others, they will soon give up, because they will find so many others who are faster than they are. Running is its own reward." Give me a bell when you're ready for a run & we'll go for a burn. Absolutely no pressure, just company, encouragement & support. Just remember that I only started running this year too, I couldn't run to save myself, but everyone starts somewhere!

Well hello all my fellow active BB's

Welcome back MG & OMG that sounds like a fantastic idea, hope you convince that DH of yours! lol just remind him of how much more fun you will be in the bedroom hehehe

Leesa - Awww Im so sorry you have sucky evening sickness, hope it passes soon for you. Also whats your advice on Pump? Im interested in attending, but I am very scared to do it, I have not much upper body strength and moving with a weights bar is very daunting. I spoke to a GF that used to do it ages ago, and she said she started with the smallerst weights possible. Any advice here, Im not sure how to approach the instructors regarding this IYKWIM?!

Christy - Congrats on joining the gym hun, thats the first step and dont worry about the obese label, I think its thrown around too losely these days to try and scare people into being active. If you feel healthy & are doing something about keeping active then thats the main thing IMO!

Eluned - Good luck with your targets you set

Hello to everyone I have missed, just wanted to say keep up the hard work

AFM - thanks for the motivation ladies I need that from time to time, notice how my eneergy levels decreased when the site was down hahahaha anything to blame really but today Im off to my first combat class in like forever, tomorrow I have step and the next night I have Attack.......SO YEP I have joined the gym again! only for three months but I just want to see how I go with it all.

Hi Everyone. I hope you're all doing well. I've had quite an active day today, compared to most other days for me. I went to a boxing class at the gym in the morning. I made a bit of a fool of myself by slipping but I don't think anyone really cared, they were all in the zone on the punching bags! Even I just got back up and shook it off and got on with it. A little part of me felt like running away and crying, lol, but there was no time for that! I know I didn't keep up with the others very well but I feel proud with what I achieved. As someone quoted earlier, I am only competing with myself. Then when I got home I took the dog for a walk. This evening I rode my bike to a friend's place.
I hope I don't feel too sore to go again tomorrow for some cardio and weights because I probably won't get another opportunity to go until Fri/Sat. I should try and go on Sat when the footy's on so I can have the place to myself, unless everyone else is thinking the same thing! hehe
Do any of you guys swim? I haven't tried the pool out yet but I figure I probably should because I've already paid for it by getting a Gold pass. I never really got the hang of swimming. I'd need to get myself a decent pair of bathers first.
I figure I'll probably weigh myself in another two weeks and see how things are going.
    Good luck to you all.

    Hi Everyone

I have been MIA for a while. Was having trouble keeping up with everyone, I was just reading all the posts and doing my thing

MG: Sounds interesting and very mysterious..count me in for a volunteer!! I have a GF who is a peri-op nurse, great hours and pay!

Leesa: hope your morning, evening all day sickness gets better!

Maz: Hope you make a speedy recovery from your procedure. Go easy Maz when you first get back to it.

Welcome to everyone else, you are all fantastically

I have been going to my usual Pump, Combat and Attack.
Walked into pump yesterday and the instructor was not aware our gym had not had the new release yet, so we got to have a go before the launch that night. They did a massive 90min launch of Pump, Attack and Combat.
I am a little unsure of the music in Pump. Due to all this copy write stuff and Les Mills, we have to first listen to a little chat from a narrator about the music and then it's all covers of songs. Some just ok. The instructor is already thinking of losing a few of the tracks as they are really quite bad.
My Combat instructor is looking like she will have to give up taking classes earlier than she thought. She is now 16wks pregnant and is under orders to keep her heart rate low, she has not been able to do that, in the last class she mentioned she may not be around for the launch. Thankfully they have a guy trained up who is quite good, so hopefully he will take her spot and we can keep the class running.
Atttack has been really hard the last couple of weeks. He seemed to want to really go hard before the new launch.
We have had another new gym open up near us. It's called Jetts and they are a 24hr access gym. No classes just equipment. It has staff during business hours, and the members have a pass that gives them access out of hours. It 's a great concept, I believe they don't have alot of the heavier weights out after hours which I assume is a safety procedure. They also have not contracts, so you can just pay a casual rate. When my good deal I got with Fenix runs out (I currently only pay $550 per year), I may cross over to them.
The other thing that has my interest is Hot Yoga. They run it at our Town Centre. The room is set at 26deg (not as hot as the bikram yoga). A couple of my GF's do it and love it.
My DH was in Adelaide on the weekend for the City to Bay and ran the 14km and DS1 walked the 3km with his grandparents and cousins.
It's school holidays here, all three kids in gym creche while I work out...fantastic

    tip for underware

    Hi everyone

I am really just popping in as I was curious to know what kind of underwear do you wear? is there a particular brand? style that works best?
I need to know cause I have put on 10kgs in the past 6 mnths and stretched all my undies so they fall off when walking fast and so need to invest in a few decent pairs to work out in. (then in theory I have no more excuses )

Ummm Kelebek, I dont know if this helps or not, but last night for the first time I worked out in Mens boy legs underwears (unsure of the brand type)...They were awesome no cutting into the butt cheeks, which is what usually happens with all the kicks etc, and felt like I had nothing on! lol Ill definetely be going to the shops today to buy more pairs of these.
