leesa, yeah I know right! I'm not sure how long she's been an instructor for but she wasn't there when I was doing the preg classes at the end of last year. I agree, I love to be challenged and each week to have something different.
I've been doing lots of walking this week, not so much jogging though. I feel so heavy when I jog. I'm sure my technique can be better. I feel like my legs are made of lead or something equally as heavy! LOL Mind you I am pushing a pram when I go out so I don't know if not being able to swing my arms makes a difference.
Despite all the extra exercise and watching portion sizes for my meals, the weight is not budging. My diet is not perfect by any means and I am coming to recognise that I am eating junk when I'm feeling good! For example, I got out in the fresh air this morning and walked to the shops and park for DS to play and whilst at the shops I felt great so treated myself to a packet of lollies and yes, I've eaten the whole packetSo how can I break this habit? Need ideas girls!
Went again today, little session though, had a horrible last 2 days and this morning got to me![]()
Sorry girls, I havent' had a chance to catch up on what everyone is up to, although I did notice the word "jogging" in one of Eluned's posts?! YIPPPEEEE!! So exciting hun, let me know when you're up for that jog together.
I'm back in the swing of things this week. Gym session on Tuesday which was really just running on the treadmill & some Xtrainer. Then Wed back into group fitness with lots of squats and running and some burpies that always kill me! This time it was burpies with 5kg plates that we had to press above our heads when we did the jump part of the burpie. Yep, that got the old heart rate up!! I always push myself to be one of the first in the class at anything we do, so was going hammer & tong but they got me in the end & 2 people finished before me....not happy! Ran 7km this morning as had DD in childcare today, and am all excited about group circuit tomorrow as who knows what we'll be doing, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I'm going to be pushing to be the best person I can be. Go hard or go home.
Keep moving y'all!!
Hi All
Everyone is going so great, its very inspirational
I have been MIA lately, mainly because of work and other stuff but all good, am cranking now, continue going to Combat on Monday and Attack on Wednesdays. May have to participate in some weekend classes, I have a burlesque themed hens night to attend at the end of the month so am looking at toning up the butt and hips before i pull on my outfit!
Hi Everyone!
Sorry I've been MIA. No excuse... not a valid one I can think of anyway!
Tan, glad to hear you're back into things again. How are your classes going?
Winter - so good to see you back!!!! How are the burpies going? Have you kicked butt yet? I'm sure you have!!!!! How is your running going?
Rhyb, how are you doing hon? I have toyou! I have no idea how you find the motivation or energy to keep going to the gym with FOUR little ones and now with another bundle of joy on the way!!!!!!!! You are amazing!!!!!
Nettie - how are you doing hon? How is yoga?! How is everything else going?
Eluned - how are your hips? I am so proud of you for jogging! Pushing the pram whilst you jog will definatley affect your gait, effort, and smoothness whilst jogging. It's a bit of a technique really! Can you go for a jog on your own at all? About the snacking, maybe try and think about how much exercise you'll have to do to work it off? A mars bar is something like 2 hours of running!!!!
Leesa - how are you going honey?! I don't know how you do it either!!! My goodness! Q's and comments were things like how I injured myself, how I should give up exercise, not go hiking, why am I limping etc etc. So frustrating. Especially from ppl who have no fricken' idea!
Heather - how are you doing hon? Are you feeling better? How was Mary Poppins?
AFM, I've been still doing my sessions AND going to the gym on my own. It is still a struggle on some days when I'm there on my own. And I'm still struggling with stretching after a session on my own. D doesn't understand my phobia and was useless when discussing today. He thinks I'm afraid to stretch, he is yet to get it connected the right way in his brain. Once he does, I'm sure he will have something helpful! Otherwise I'll just laugh at him for a long time to come! So, does anyone have any ideas on how to get me to stretch in the gym before I leave?! The stretch area is directly in front of the cardio equipment (specifically the cross trainers) and always crowded.
I've been a bit panicky the last few weeks and frantically awaiting AF. I've had all the symptoms of PG which, as much as I want another baby, is not a good thing at the moment! I need to get this injury sorted out more before I have another baby! Just not the right time. So I was very relieved when AF arrived!!! I am so worried about my back and hips when I do get PG so need to get as rid of as much weight as I can! Especially since DH wants to start TTC in Feb/March!!!!! D was very supportive though and reassured me he would make sure I could still train and remain active as that is what works for my injury. If I stop exercising then I seize up.
Positive news for me is that I've dropped more weight. Not much but enough to have me excited. I'm back at the same weight I was before I went away last year and stuffed up my weightloss! Now I just need to keep getting the scales down! WOOT!
I'm kicking some goals in PT. Have improved on everything to the point where D is telling my friend in her sessions that I'm better than her at hover!normally it's the other way around! We are all proud of my achievements... now to just keep moving forward!
Keep active girls!
MG
Hello Ladies!!! Come on! Where is everyone?!
Just thought I'd drop in and share a realisation I had today. I went to the gym and was bopping away on the treadmill and realised that in the last few months, I have increased my walking speed by a whole 1Km/hr! That probably doesn't seem much to most people - but with my injury, that is HUGE! I'm walking pretty damn fast! Faster than other people at the gym! In fact, I'm walking so fast I'm sure people are wondering why I'm not running!which is a question I intend to throw at D on Tuesday!
In other gym news - I am struggling with the cross trainer at the moment. I've dropped my speed for some reason and not sure what it is. It is a rather significant drop too and it is annoying me! Plan to work on that this week! AND I did bike today - 15 minutes at a great speed...and with no recourse! WOOT! Things are looking up!!!
AND, there was this couple who enjoyed pointing at me and whispering comments (BTW - no point in whispering when I've got my music so loud, I cna't hear myself sneeze anyway!). Know my reaction? NOTHING! I totally ignored them! Including in the car park! I actually pitied them - how sad they have nothing better to do at the gym!
How is everyone else going? I hope you're all keeping active!
MG
Loving that attitude there MG!!! and congrats on the increase in speed....I thought I saw this flash before, didn't know what it was - now I know it was you scootin' past my place lol!! Seriously, brilliant work hun!
I've noticed the fitness thread has been a bit quiet of late too! thanks for joining Fat Chic Slim hun, you've already given some great info and ideas. Everyone else, check it out on FB - its a group I've created :-)
AFM - you all know I like to exercise in the evening....? Well why is it that I'm getting arvo / evening sickness with this PG? How unfair GRRR. I did go for a pretty brisk walk today, pushing the kids in the pusher up a slight hill - all up for about 30 mins, so better than nothing. And I did Body Attack last Thursday night too, high impact as per usual. I also did Attack on Monday night @ high intensity. So on par with what I had been doing prior to becoming UTD again.
Sending you all fitness vibes :-)
you so totally ROCK MG!!
We're all so proud of you
I'm sick at the moment with a headcold including tummy pains and aching kidneys - so no exercise for me (coupled with whatever food I can handle eating at the time) equals no fitness
Yoga's going great though - loving it still! Will have to see how I'm feeling this week though... a face full of cotton wool (how my sinuses feel) isn't a good start to doing yoga
to everyone else - hope your journey is going good!

Hi everyone!!! I've been a bit quiet as DH is on holidays. I have been exceeding my goal of 10,000 steps a day every day so far![]()
MG, yeah I guess I could go out for a jog on my own on weekends and leave the kids at home with DH. You are awesome for improving your speed!! Well done!!!
Leesa, I have joined your FB group. It's a great idea! Have loved reading everyone's tips
I've also been on my cross trainer almost every morning and if I can't I've gone out for a big walk. I find getting it done first thing in the morning gets it out of the way and I feel good for the rest of the day.
Hi
MG: Loved Mary Poppins!! You do such an amazing job with your excersise plan, you never give up, it really is great to read your posts, even when you are having a bad day, you still sound hopeful.
Leesa: Hope you are feeling well.
to all the other ladies and man, you are all doing a great job of keeping on the move.
It has been quiet in here, me included. After I took the week off to recover from my cold, I did a Pump session on the Monday and felt ok. Then I did Combat on Wednesday and silly me cannot bring myself to do the low option so went in hard. Took it's toll on my and by Thursday I was back where I was the following week. So I have had a good break, and went back to Pump on Monday and if felt great! Combat too was excellent, so I am back in the swing of things. Still have a cough hanging around, that will just have to get better on its own.
It's been a long week so far, DH has had something similar, the only thing is being a Manhe obviously gets it worse than me
Anyway, he has coughed himself silly and probably cracked a rib or torn a muscle near his lung. So with him coughing all night it was perfect timing for me to get back into the swing of things as the excersise actually helps keep going.
The Combat instructor announced yesterday she is 15wks pregnant. So we are probably going to lose Combat again, as they just don't seem to have enough Combat instructors around here. She plans on going right up to her due date from what she was saying.
The Pump has been great, I am trying to find my feet with the weight I should be lifting. Hoping I can get some tips.
I am slight built, so I have starting with 3kg each side and that is my max all through the session with me going down to 2kg for legs. I see some of the girls who have been doing for quite a while lifting 10kg either sideSo my goal is to gradually increase the weight.

Heather, well done on getting back into it. You do need to take it easy when you're sick which can be hard for some people (me included!!!!). I hope your DH recovers soon from man flu!
Eluned, so glad you're jumping on your cross trainer each morning! How is everything going?
Nettie - how are you feeling now hon?
I'm doing well girls. Plodding along nicely. Getting to the gym when I can, which is difficult with my shifts and DH working so hard at the moment (staff shortage). I had an awesome PT session Tuesday and feel so great! Both D and I were hugely impressed by what I was able to achieve!!! My bad shoulder is a little bad sore today, but still ok. D has commented on my walking speed and is pretty impressed. He has noticed a huge difference from when we first started. And my core is improving although I found a big deficit the other day. But I have a plan! And I set that plan into motion yesterday!!!! Lets see how I go!
Heather, it has been quiet in here... hopefully because everyone is busy exercising!!!! But I think some of it may also be to Leesa's FB page! Haha.
Keep active girls!
MG - I'm feeling better, but still quite tired (you know how you know your body hasn't recovered yet, but the symptoms are gone?). I skipped yoga this week and was really disappointed!! I'm looking forward to returning next week!
Did a fair bit of walking today around the city as I had a day off work to take my son to some follow up appointments and then used the opportunity for some shopping!
Hope everyone else is going well. We need a fitness emoticon!!![]()
I like the cheering one though Toni! Glad you're taking it easy whilst recovering though. I know it's difficult but it is necessary! But I won't get too high on that horse since I've been known to go with laryngitis, on Day 5 of the flu (not contagious after Day 3 due to tamiflu!), fevers, severe injuries.... but I didn't just tell you that!
Ahhh this is lovely, i LOVE coming in here and reading everybody's journeys, but its definitely too quite, hehehe will check out the fb page later on today, how exciting.
Ahh well I havent been doing classes recently, have alot going on with other stuff to the end of this month, but will start again in September, so having said that I have been on the x-trainer this week so am getting into a regular routine with that again, so quite pleased about that!!
Winter! How'd you go at the City to Surf this morning?
Hi Eluned (I always without fail write Laranna first), Tan, MG, Heather, Nettie, Leesa, Winter, Rhyb.
My name is Ashlea and I am a fatty! Anyway, long story short, on the weekend I admitted just how much my wedding rings don't fit anymore and it made me cry. We bought a 12-casual pass to Fenix... and tonight turned it into a 12 months membership. I am uber proud of the both of us!
Anyway I will be a beginner but I hope to be an active participant in this thread, so hopefully i'll be chatting more with you all soon!
ETA: Heather I know you are local so i am curious what gym you go to??

Lol funny you should say that, it came up at our BB meet yesterday and I've been thinking of changing it back. I didn't think anyone remembered my old username
Anyway, Welcome to the groupyou'll love it here!
Had a really sluggish day today but still managed to drag myself onto the cross trainer for half an hour. Indulged in some ice-cream thoughbut nibbled at the veggies I was chopping up for the stir fry I cooked for dinner
Really looking forward to pilates tomorrow night too especially since it's my time out of the house![]()
