I run - started with the C25K program which is awesome, and now I am running 4-6kms every few days and aiming to do a 10 km run in October. Even walking 40-1 hour every second day will boost your metabolism. I also use dvds, Jillian Michaels ones are awesome - Ripped in 30 and 30 day shred are great - they are quick 20 min sessions or Extreme Shed and Shred is great - that is a 30 or 60 min one. Really good and all you need are some hand weights.
Sorry Onxy, I should clarify, there are things here available when I'm away, I just didn't want to pay top dollar for a gym in brisbane that I'm not going to use all the time.
My work is extremely male dominated, so I am kind of discouraged from going to the gym here (my own insecurities).... I've been walking around camp here, and thats helping.
Im needing something that gives me support, in a comfortable environment. Has anyone done curves?
I'm a member at Fernwood and whilst it is more expensive than lots of gyms it is also the most supportive gym I've belonged to. Probably not what you're looking for unless you can negotiate a FIFO contract with them.
A PT will come to you and work out in the park but then again you miss out on the peer support that you get at a gym.
Can you put in a request that part of your gym at work is made into a women's only space? It's pretty common at gyms these days, even the mixed gyms often have an area that is set aside for women.
