Thanks Meagn :) And also can DH and I work on 1 sign-up or is it individually planned for you if you know what I mean?
I'm not 100% sure. Eluned would be able to answer your question as she has done the program before.
I would assume that the number of calories you are given is based on being male/female and your weight.
My DH is going to be eating the same food as me (maybe an extra snack or two and slightly bigger meal portions) and he's just started doing the couch to 10km running program for his exercise. We couldn't afford for both of us to sign up so we figured this was the next best thing.
It depends how serious your DH is about participating. If he wants to be in it for the prizes and competitions then yep he could sign up too.
Personally, I just joined up for me and DH ate whatever I served up lol...I just added extra meat or rice or pasta to his and the kids meals or just gave them bigger servings. DH still lost weight (which he wanted to lose anyway).
Thankyou ladies!!! DH only wants to do it for weightloss not the prizes etc...
I am soo excited about joining! It even made me go for a big walk!
Miss K, pre-season task 6 was released late last night and I just watched the video. The plan is 1200 calories for women and 1800 for men. So, if your DH is just in it for the weight loss and you're going to have access to the meal and exercise plans through your membership then that should work just as well.
Hi girls,
I've done it! I'm all geared up!!! Have new sneakers (that actually fit!), exercise clothes, a step, looking to hire/buy a second hand treadmill for those days that I just can't get out for a walk.
Next I'm off to find a heart rate monitor. From what I'm gathering the Polar FT7 seems to be the go.... anyone got one or used one? Eluned??? My exercize WBT guru??? Help!!!! :)
I've got a Polar FT60. Absolutely love it! :) they aren't reallllly necessary but I like to know stats and numbers so I got one. At the start of last round Michelle set up a special deal so you could get a discounted HRM, but keep an eye out all round because if there are sales on elsewhere you may get one cheaper still. Or do what I did and get one for free by cashing in Qantas reward points :)
Im really interested and have a sked a couple of questions before but can anyone answer a couple more for me? :)
1. How much exercise is onvolved....like will I be able to do it justice with a non sleeping 1 year old and very little IRL support?
2. The food, Im a very plain and simple eater. Could I work with that.
Dont sound very dedicated do I? I am, just cautious :)
Lily Dust, the exercise and meals plans are all set out. The exercise is 6 days a week of about one hour a session but do what fits in with you. Break up the sessions into smaller sessions. Once a week is a super session where you do about 2 hours of exercise.
The food plans are all set breakfast lunch and dinner. But there is a whole database of other meals that you can swap and choose according to your tastes, as long as they all fit into the calorie quota.
This is very interesting, i need motivation and this could be something that would work for me, I started last week just doing it myself and with the gym but i have alot of weigh to lose 50kg+ but have set my self a 20kg goal as its not so daunting. Maybe the 12 weeks with all the support that goes with it will be what i need. Will talk to DH when he gets home.
For those of you who have completed it already, how much does the food cost? We have a $200 per week food shopping budget, and we do eat fairly well, but I guess I'm just wondering if there are specific things you need to buy, or whether it is 'normalish' foods to get.
Yep normal foods. You should definitely get the weekly shop in under $200. Lots of fresh produce and the plans are set out to use similar ingredients each week so there is no wastage.
PacRakMG, last week we were given a list of pantry items that we should have available, so I bought most of that this week and it cost me about $40 extra. Obviously, I wont have to buy all of that every week as it will last a while and will just have to re-stock as needed. So I'm thinking the first shop may be more than you usually spend, but it should even out after that. I expect most of my shopping this weekend (ready for week 1) will be fresh fruit/veg, fish and lean meats. I'll be doing all my fruit/veg/fish shopping at the market which is 30min away, but I think will be well worth the trip with the savings I will make there.
I think I'm ready. I've just ordered a couple of exercise DVD's online for those days I can't get out (so I have no excuses) and my heart rate monitor arrived the other day. I've also done 2 days of the C25K running program this week to start preparing myself for the shock of all that exercise coming up!
Madham, did you end up joining? I noticed you're in VIC. The end of round finale party and exercise class with Michelle is in Melbourne on May 14th...that could be something to look forward to if you join, and I'm thinking a huge source of inspiration to keep going after that - that's why I'm planning on going!
I have been exercising while I've been on holidays, attempted to go for a run/jog/stumble the other morning but forgot how humid Cairns is during cyclone season so went to the gym instead.
Had a mud wrap today to start breaking up the fatty deposits in my body & detoxing :)
I was bad yesterday and ate things I haven't eaten in a while (like mash potato), so once I'm back home in a few days I'll be back on the healthy foods, well healthier foods, am trying to eat as healthy as possible, for instance tonight's desert was a fruit platter instead of mudcake (which i really wanted).
Yep, I've been all about the small changes. Thinking more before I shovel food in! Doing some exercise, reducing my portion sizes. I still have a couple of tasks to finish.
Really looking forward to Thursday when we get our Week 1 plans :)
Megan, I can't wait either! This week for me has been about learning to count calories (loving myfitnesspal.com) and fitting in more exercise! Since last Wed I've managed to burn 2320 calories according to my heart rate monitor! WoooHooo! :) I've been much better with my food, not brilliant, but I'm learning. My copy of the crunch time cookbook arrived today so I'm going to make some dinner from that for the next few days before the program starts!
Bring it on!!!! :)
Well done on all those burnt calories Doodlebug!! :D
I went looking everywhere for that book on the weekend and couldn't find it! Guess I will have to get it online too!
I bought a couple of exercise dvd's online last night. I remember the days when you could buy those anywhere, but I had so much trouble finding them.
It took me ages to get a copy of the dvd's too, I've only got 2 of them, the shredder one and tight, toned & terrific.
I had to order the book from borders, even book depository was out of stock!!! Borders had free shipping though!
Have you done it before? This is my first time, kind of excited and a whole lot of nervous! Did my measurements today.... not great, haven't done the photo yet.... might do that in the morning.
