Shazz- could you do a few kms for me please???LOL
OMG....if I did that I'd have you all running for your lives!:
I'm really glad I looked at your photos first Lucy - I was going to take ones in my crop top and undies!
Just off to the shops to stock up on veggies/diet yogurt and Chuppa Chups! Shaz & Yael.....you have both inspired me with your excercise talk. I am going to WALK to the shops with the dog instead of driving.....10 mins there, and a VERY STEEP panting 20 mins back!
ok, photos up.
You girls have brightened my day. I've had a relieved giggle just now.
For those of you who don't know, I'm in the cops, and I spend a good part of my day working with fit athletic women. It's even worse when you catch yourself in a shop window whilst wearing the gunbelt that did fit properly - once.
Sad part is on my warrant card (ID) it says I weigh 54kgs. I refuse to change to my married name because it means I'll need a new card and therefore a new 9and probably way more accurate) weight - sad huh?
I have taken my measurements but no luck at the morgue today. I had to measure by myself - all easy until you get to the arm bit lol.
I just found a tape measure and measured myself. I put the tape under my chin on my arm to hold it Kim! I have no idea what nice measurements are so it didn't seem too horrific, one of my thighs is 5cm thinner than the other though!
Antheia - I just realised when I read your post that I didn't email Lea my weight LOL!!!!
I am planning on having before and afters taken in my bathers lol!:
I'm really glad I looked at your photos first Lucy - I was going to take ones in my crop top and undies!
I just LOVE the enthusiasm that is happening in this thread already. And I am super impressed and happy with the interest everyone has showed!!
Lucy WTG for starting up the gallery - brilliant idea everyone!
Jodie I am so stoked to have you on board! It will be great to have you expertise and knowledge!
Kim pmsl about you not changing your married name on your card!!!!
I am just on my way to bed but will sit down tomorrow and sort out the spreadsheet and all the entrants! I am cheating and getting all my measurements done at the gym on Monday lol. Will be back in tomorrow ladies! I can't wait to get started!
Ok no photos yet... camera batteries died... DOH... but they are on charge & I will take & post them tonight...
My Exercise plan is (so long as i stick to it)...
Mon - Aqua sport aerobics class + 10 min ab workout (made up by a Personal trainer for me)

rogls ladies, rogls.
So this is my workout routine:

Wednesday - couch to 5k training
Friday - couch to 5k training
Sunday - couch to 5k training
Somewhere in there I want to put in a gym training session (class) too.
Haven't worked out my diet yet. Might start a new thread on Body Challenge - diet :D
hmmm this is interesting, i definitely need to stop pigging out on junk food and drinking coke all the time.... is it too late to join??
mmm exercise...
we have a gym at work to use for free at lunchtime, that I've been seriosuly slack at using, so from now it will be:
mondays 30 min spin class
tuesdays 1hr 'shaping' havnt been to this one yet, i think its toning exercises
wednesdays gym/circuit or 30min walk, plus gym workout at night approx 45min
thursdays 30min core stability class
fridays walking 30 min
saturdays - gym 45mins weights/cardio
sundays - resting
From past experience if I dont have rest days I will go insane!
I will also be having a personal training session once a fortnight as well.
Well I just put my measurements in to Nat, and can I just say I was really suprised. I am huge...
So. I am off to buy a day to a page diary to write down what food / water / exercise I am doing to keep track a bit.
With having PCOS this is going to be a huge challenge, but with about 25 kgs to lose, I really want to to do this.
My plan for exercise, with working full time and not having access to the gym will be.
Mon - 20 minute bike.
Tues - pilates video
Wed - 30 minute bike.
Thurs - pliates video or aqua aerobics.
Fri - day off - sewing / craft night.
Sat - swimming lessons with Katy.
As far as food is concerned, I am back on my Sureslim diet which I did a few years ago, however adding a few low GI carbs.
Good luck everyone!!!!
i have just bought headphones from my mp3 player and a measuring tape, a bit scared. now all i have to do is work out when/how i can exercise and hopefully plan it so i can do it solo, not with bubs.
anyone know of any other exercise shows on foxtel?? i didnt realise there is yoga, might have to give it a go. not sure how i will go with dd in the playpen while i try it out, haha.
Hi everyone,
Been exceptionally slack and I haven't email in my weights and cms. If I don't get to it this weekend I'll have to drop out. Best of luck to you all and I may or maynot be back in this thread
Ruth
Hi Ruth - come on, don't give up, you can do it!! Even if you at least send in your weight today (that 's the easy one to work out) and then buy a tape measure over the weekend - I'm sure no one will mind if you're a day or two late.
Think about that goal weight following your upcoming implanon removal!! Go girl!!!
Ruth The first weigh in is not due until Monday but in saying that... if you're late (or anyone else) its not going to matter. Please join us!!
About to sit down and sort out this spreadsheet ladies... darn its hot here! (39 degrees :o )
This thread is shaping up to be really good - just like us!
Measuring - I know you have mostly done it but we were asked for hips, waist, thighs and arms - to make it really easy - just measure the widest part of your hips, thighs and arms as they may change shape over the next few months with exercise and then the widest part may be located ina different spot......and waist - measure the narrowest section.
I love the fact that weight and measurements are being taken into account because weight doesn't mean much. I have had clients gain 3 kilos and drop a dress size or two.....also don't pay too much attention to numbers like the BMI which is your height divided by your weight squared......at 84kg and 1.59cm high, my BMI is 33 which means I am classified as obese but I only wear a size 14......I am built like Marilyn Monroe and am slightly bigger but by no means huge........
I went to weight watchers years ago and I was almost 90 kilos and a size 16 - I really carry my weight well as under the fat I am very muscular. The lady looked at me, looked at the scale and asked me to get off so she could check it!! She hadn't seen a size 16 person weighing in at 90 kilos....I told her that is was correct but she wasn't sure.
So, decide what size you want to be (10, 12, 14 whatever)......and go for it.....as long as you are getting smaller and healthier, that is what really counts.
One of the best things we did at WW when I was there, was take a piece of string, tie it around your waist and the cut through the knot giving a piece of string the exact circumference of your waist. Then every two weeks you put it around your waist and you could really see how much smaller you were growing.
I like the string idea Tracey, I might do that, I like seeing results!
I am so going to do that string thing. And it's good to hear that someone else was 90kg for size 16. So I could be normal.
Tracey - when I was a gym junkie (twice a day - every day) I was 97kg and was a size 14-16. In 6 weeks I'd lost 3% body fat, dropped from a size 18 but not lost any weight on the scales. Weight watchers didn't like me because I questioned the fact that they wanted me to be 53kg and I was last 53kg in primary school.
Lea - measurements on their way to you - just working out how best to do them by myself (DH is away for work until Sunday)
ok - I couldn't find a tape measure, so I found a ball of string, measured myself with those and then grabbed my builders tape and measured the string with that :)
Just thought I would add guys that my friend has lost nearly 50kg since feb last year & has gone from a size 26 to a 16.. amazing effort, I am sooo proud of her...
Now off to try & post my photos to lucys gallery...
How's this for inspiational: Zelma's Before & After Pics
Tracey.....LOVE the peice of string idea! I am going to go and do that right now!
Wow how great does she look??? Wonder how tall she is cause she weighs more than me now but looks tonnes better!
Wow that lady looks great!
Nat my measurement will be a day late. I couldn't find a scale today so am going to try and rewire mine....
Well the string idea was a hit...better do mine!!
Schaz - I absolutely loved your innovative measuring......
I read the weight loss document on the zelma link (now that woman is inspiring....makes some of us look thin before we start and if she can turn her life around, so can we!!!) and there is this amazing quote that I really think we should all adopt, print out and stick where we can see it....
If you really want to lose, you'll find a way, and it you don't want to, you will find an excuse. It's up to you.
Off to have some watermelon......
Ha ha Tracey....great minds think alike.........I copied and pasted that one myself.:
If you really want to lose, you'll find a way, and it you don't want to, you will find an excuse. It's up to you.
Oh wow, how great does she look? I wonder if she has baggy skin from the excess weight, or if because she took her time to lose the weight, the skin has bounced back with her?
I love that string idea! I'm going to do that now too!
Lucy, just checked out your blog - what a great way to keep yourself motivated.
Kazbah, I emailed Zelma and asked that question. The email address has not bounced so hopefully I will get a reply and let you all know.
i just wanted to check- are people going to wait till feb 1 to weigh themselves/ do measurements again or are you going to do it before that?
I'm going through my uni text books (I'm studying for a bachelor of health science with a major in naturopathy) and my "Food as Medicine" notes say that you should eat 20 different foods each day, to give yourself nutrients and your body variety.
wow... that Zelma woman looks amazing! I imagine she is in the US (because she called it Jello)... but she talks in kg's ... so maybe not? Hope you hear from her Tracey! I also wondered about her excess skin.
If anyone is looking to read an inspiration book to help you along... get hold of The Clothesline Diet by Karen Gatt. She is a Melbourne woman who was 130kg, and could barely walk. So her exercise was walking around her clothesline in her backyard. And without any particular diet or weigt loss programme, she lost half her body weight. She had two small kids at the time too. She is amazing.
Another good book is the two by AJ Rochester (from the Biggest Loser). She wrote two weight loss books before she was on Biggest Loser. She's a comedien by trade, so her books are funny - but also very "real".
Some great cook books are the "symply too good" range by Annette Sym. These are available at newsagents or online. Again, Annette lost an incredible amount of weight by adjusting normal recipes to low fat.
I have chatted online to all three of these women - and all of them donated their books for the weight loss challenges I organised in the past. All three of them are Australian, and lost large amounts of weight, whilst having small children to run around after. So there is no excuses for us!
My excuse is ME. I just realised that I have finished off an entire box of cheezels. Although I have lots of yummy fruit in the fridge. Pineapple, apricots, peaches... damn! It's just my natural reaction to go to the pantry and grab "sweet stuff".
One of my problems is my DH. He is underweight. He could eat like a pig, and still be underweight. He insists on lollies, chips & chocolate in the house all the time. He can eat it. I'm just going to have to avoid it. Maybe I will put all the sweet stuff into another cupboard so that I don't have to see it on a daily basis.
I also have my MIL here, who is cooking every single day. But she leaves on Monday - so I'll start preparing all my own meals very soon.
Gracie: you can weigh yourself once a week - and you can lodge that weight with lea (by pm or email) if you want to. You can also post it here if you want too. You probably only need to do measurements once a month, as you won't notice a huge difference in cm's on a weekly basis.
ADVICE: when trying to lose weight - its really easy to become obsessed with the scales and weigh every day. Please try to avoid the scales. Weigh ONCE a week. No more. If you have to, put your scales up somewhere really high... or give them to a friend/family/neighbour if you can't help yourself. Becoming a slave to your scales is not healthy. Women's weight can fluctuate a couple of kilos in ONE day! Weighing yourself regularly puts yourself on an emotional roller coaster.
Lucy... good on you for starting a weight loss blog! It's great to record your journey. I started a weightloss blog years ago... then got pregnant, and it became a prengancy blog, then back to a weight loss blog, then back to a pregnancy blog...!
Another inspiration tool (that Lucy has used) is VIRTUAL MODEL. You can put in your details (current weight and "looks") and it will present you with an image of what you look like. then you can change the weight to the weight you would like to be... and oila - instant motivation!
check out the website : My Virtual Model
Okay... I'm off to bed.
Night all...
thanks jodie :)
i did the virtual model, but my model doesn't look half bad. in fact, she looks pretty hot! she's super toned. doesn't have my big baby belly lol! i've put her in my gallery....
I too have this problem, Jodie. We received a lot of chocolates at Christmas, and while I have eaten most of a box of Lindt balls I am proud to say that i have been pretty restrained with everything else. I am going to suggest he takes the remaining chocolates into work with him so that way he can get his sugar hit at work and they won't be here to tempt me.
ok I've played with virtual model (stupid thing won't let me register!), so I've grabbed screen shots & uploaded them to my gallery
First image is weight now, 2nd image is what I need to be to start IVF, 3rd image is a "would be nice" (but last time I was that weight I was 15)
LOL, I thought the same of mine.......my 'before' chick looks OK to me, LOL! No lumps and bumps and saggy spare tyres!:

Mine are here, halfway down on the right hand side.
I know what you all mean about the leftover goodies from Christmas........I emptied out the larder yesterday adn filled 2 enviro bags with CRAP (tins of shortbread, bags of nuts, chippies, choccies etc) I gave them to DH and told him to hide them and eat them out of my sight!
Well I've started in earnest today. I'm only up to 9 points today :D too.
Your water tracker is cool Lucy!
Still can't find anywhere to get weighed. May have to go up to Big W and buy myself a new set me thinks....
Ummmmmmmm, shame it doesn't appear to work on Blogger though! I have it on my iGoogle page and it works perf, but on the blog it resets itself everytime you refresh.....annoying me....:
Your water tracker is cool Lucy!
Well I'm going to be getting anywhere between 6 and 10 hours of heavy exercise tonight, I'm playing roadie for the bump-out of Summerfield Dayze down the gold coast, so I'm going to be pushing boxes, pulling down scaffolding, packing stuff, lugging stuff etc all in the mud!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sooo going to feel it on Sunday afternoon (we start at midnight tonight). I think I'll be dosing myself with arnica before I start working, just to preempt any bruising.
I don't even get to go to sleep when we get home, we will be going right to the airport to pick up DH's 10yo step-son who is flying in for a weeks holiday.
