Hi all just wanted to check out my new ticker....
I need some motivation BADLY I have been doing what I normally do (i have even extended my walk by 2 km) and I weighed my self this morning and am still the same....not happy Jan..
Jodie - those books are great recommendations. I recommend them to clients. As you say, the problem is us - we know what to do and we choose to do differently. Although something went on in my head on Dec 15 when DH and I had a few words....or he had some and as usual I just said nothing.....but it did something to me head and by the start of Jan I reaised I was no longer pigging out on carbs and chocolate......so I weighed myself and had lost 2kilos...so that was the start for me......I am getting my body back!!
Kyliekd - plateaus happen - change the food you are eating and the type of exercise you are doing for a while and that might have an impact
Schaz - where are you studying - I was studying naturopathy at Southern Schools but quit after first year! Hope you aren't too sore on Sunday.
I also have a man with no weight issues - gains 2 kilos over xmas - loses them mid-Jan - he runs marathons - we just got back from Europe where he ran the Athens marathon on his 60th birthday.......most men would be ****ing it up at a party......
You need to have a safe house - stick all the crap food goodies in a separate cupboard if you have to have them in the house at all - get a lock on it - give him the key!!
I want to do a ticker - no idea how to get it in my signature....gonna have to learn these things! How do i do it?
The virtual model looks cute as well.
Zelma replied - she does have loose skin but says it isn't too bad - she disguises it and doesn't want it removed. She says it is still a whole lot better than being as big as she was!!
It's been a hot day today but I did gardening and lots of new year cleaning which is classed as exercise in this heat...tomorrow, more of the same and then I reckon I have done the best clean ever......absolutely everything has been cleaned!!! Walls, door, tiles, cupboards in and out.....and lots of stuff donated to charity.......and with sorting me out as well.....2008...look out!!
I am being really good today but I am hungry and cranky!! I am good with meals but I hate healthy snacks, I crave sweets and junk :( I need to find recipes for healthy yet yummy snack foods. I have also been running up the stairs instead of walking and drinking tonnes of water.
Kim- go into the shops and weigh yourself on the scales then leave LOL You just have to go every week!!
I'm studying at Australian College of Natural Medicine in Brisbane, I was doing Science (with a double major in biomedical science and chemistry) at Central Qld Uni until I found out that the Bachelor courses at ACNM were finally recognised as "real" bachelor degrees, then I swapped. I've done 6 subjects so far. Want to go back to it again this year.
I know I'm going to be sore, DH walked in the door about 3 hours ago and he was in pain (but then again he'd worked 20 hours straight), I got him in the shower, gave him a rub down with tiger balm and then gave him a dose of arnica. I'm about to go and grab a few hours sleep.
Have steak and vegetables organised for dinner - some gorgeous organic rib eye, potatoes, corn, beans, broccoli, mushrooms (all organic). With fruit for desert, plus some yummy healthy snacks for during the night.
So far I've eaten 7 different foods today - I'm trying to get in the habit of eating 20 different foods each day.
Heya Ladies,
It sounds like we are all off and moving with gusto...
I am a little worried about the lose skin but hey it is better than being this big :)
I just did a little self motivagtion...I tried on two pairs of pants that have not fit me for three (3) years ( and yes they are brand new, still with the tags on) and guess what last time I could not get them past my thighs and today not only do they fit but the look good a big WHOOOOO for me:clap:
Sorry about the me post but am so excited I have not been this small for three plus years - I could not help myslef I had to go jump my husband as a celebration - hey he is not complaining
congratulations kylie!! that must feel really good
Kylie: WELL DONE! That is amazing!
.Tracey: see below gor Ticker instructions!:
I want to do a ticker - no idea how to get it in my signature....gonna have to learn these things! How do i do it?
1. Find a ticker site such as Weight Loss - Diet Ticker
2. Personalise by following all the prompts on the site.
3. It will give you some code at the end: copy this
4. Go to your Bellybelly User Profile pull down menu (top left) and pick Edit Signature
5. Insert the code here......& the code will then be a ticker
Let me know how you go......give me a shout if you need any help...
Kyliekd.......never apologise for a post like that......you go girl! Soon those pants will be falling off which I am sure your DH won't mind that either!!
Lucy....thanls for the ticker help - was real easy....although all the choices make it difficult in a way.....but I got me a ticker....
I want to join in!! But I get back from holidays on the 22nd. Is that too late?
Kelly... can you just do a weigh-in & take your measurements on Sunday or Monday? (and email them to Nat)
Then it starts... and your next 'weigh in' is on the 1st Feb.
Ah but I wont be dieting while away ;) So thats why I asked :)
It doesn't matter that you won't be dieting on hols.......you can do a few days before you leave and then really start when you get back - and perhaps then you won't pig out big time when away.....
You can always join in when you return and get all the group support and we will know you started late but I can see us going bast the initial transformation date anyway - it gonna take me more than the weeks we have organised.
Perhaps we need to see if we can have something for later starters - I am sure thre are going to be people coming back from hols over the next week or two wanting to join this thread for support and we have all started.....
Any ideas anyone - Lea? Seeing as you hold the measurements.....Can we have late startes who aren't in the initial running but want to be part of the support?
i'm so mad at my self i have got siaticia really really really bad and can't walk can't bend can't move basically so exercise is no exsistent here though i am trying to eat under 16 points a day which hasn't been to hard cause i feel so sick from the pain killers the doctor has given me so off for a ct scan on tuesday
Okay sounds good. Shall start today :)
well I'm back and I'm exhausted, I did an incredibly long and strenuous workout since midnight. OK i'm bad and had maccas on the way home, but heck I was sweating so much I was going to the toilet for every 4 bottles of water I was drinking and I was pretty much on the go for over 7 hours!
Wow I'm not online for a day and the thread has added 2 pages!
Shazz, dont eat under 16 points a day, make sure you have 18.
If you eat too little you're body can go into starvation mode and will actually try to retain weight.
I'm a bit like Tracey, I'm 85 and in between 14-16 ATM.
When I get to my goal weight of 75kg I will be a standard 14 and at my start weight of 97 I was stil a 16.
So it depresses me watching those TV ads with womedn saying "I lost 10 kilos and 2 dress sizes" when I know I have to lose double that go to down one.
But halfway there so yay!
I am going to be weighing in every week, same time/day, same clothes etc. I find it a really good motivational tool. Even more so when I have to email someone and tell them what it is!! I don't want it going in the wrong direction :cryinglaugh:
I'm so proud of myself, i've been eating healthy foods & more fruit (not too much fruit though) since Weds! 4 days.... DH and I went for a long walk yesterday to the beach and back and today we plan to do so again (if the rain stays away). Today is the first blue skies we've seen in 3 weeks!! Yay!!
I'm cooking meals from my Weight Watchers cookbooks and "Symply Too Good to be True" cookbooks - have any of you ladies got those books? they are great. u buy them from newsagencies $13 each.
QUESTION - does anyone know that if I fall pregnant soon, and keep eating very very healthy, low fat foods, no sugar or bad fats, will i still lose some weight whilst pregnant? Or will my body maintain my weight for the baby? I am not sureiam happy to maintain my weight but just not gain any!!
KYLIE - that is awesome hun!!! I remember you saying in a post that you had lost allthis weight... so proud of you!!!! :) were you just eating healthy and exercising more???
Rayray I too weigh my self every week at the same time (Sunday morning first thing butt naked) to get an acurate reading...
I have broken once or twice and weighed my self early and been disappointed a good example of this is this week, I weighed yesterday and had not lost anything and then I weighed myself today in the morning and have lost 1 kg whooooo.
I do have the old type scale (not digital) and they are hard to read so I drag my DH out of bed to read them for me (it helps that he is totally honest - to the point of being brutal) and it was a clear kg for me...
So the moral is same time, same day and but naked - as some clothes do actually have a lot of weight in them you would be surprised...
You also weigh less in the morning (after peeing of course);)
Kylie --- so what are your secrets to successful weight loss hun? Love to hear! As for weighing yourself, yep i do that too, first thing in the morning, post-pee ,once a week (although quite often i still jump on the scales!) and butt-scarily-naked :D
REN - yep just sensible eating (basically the weight watchers - I lost a lot of weight on this before I met my Dh and he made me fat again)..
No processed foods, chocolate or soft drink and am not a moderaton person and it has taken me 29 years to figure this out I do not just eat one chocolate I eat the whole lot:redface:
I am not killing my self with exercise either - I walk every day for 30 to 45 min..it is not easy but I must say this is the most motivation that I have ever had and am really surprised at myself but my dh is really supportive and encouraging and so is my boss and a great friend that I work with - you really need the encouragement and it is only now that I can see the difference in my body :)
I also eat a @$@#$ load of veggies and fruit and drink water like it is going out of fashion...
It also gives me something to focus on while trying to get pregnant and I read that weight loss inceases your fertility by 10% for every 10% of body wieght lost so that helps with the motivation:)
Kylie - me too, in terms of chocolate, i am one of those ALL-OR-NOTHING people!!! I can't stop at one bite or one piece, hence for me to lose weight i just simply have to eat no chocolate. Its too tempting otherwise. i cant stop at just one. i have no self control.
yes losing weight will boost our fertility levels! even just losing 5kgs will make the difference between falling pregnant one month or the next! in just 4 days i can feel my stomach less bloated. i dont feel so FULL. first day on this healthy eating plan, iwas sooo hungry and miserable and craved sugar and chocolates and big macsit was my body having carb withdrawals im sure. i resisted! snacking on low fat yoghurt, fruit, nuts, multrigrain crackers with ricotta cheese
I'm just aiming for 30mins exercise per day. walk to beach and then back again.
thats me too with the chocolate. actually with any of that sort of food. I cant just have a piece, or a slice of cake, or 1 lollie etc. It's all or nothing.
Not much exercise happening so far this weekend. DH has gone to play golf today so home with DS.
I think we might go swimming this afternoon though, might see if I can sneak in some laps while DS is playing with DH.
Tomorrow is the real start for me, exercise wise. I have a spinning class at lunch time so hopefully that will go well!
Wow Kylie, that's amazing!!!
Geepers Schaz, that's a long haul. Hope you get a snooze this arvie.
Renee, a good eating plan will help you maintain energy when you do fall anyway, and it's the best start for your baby. Good job on your 4 days worth too.
Wow Tracey I'd like to be able to run a marathon at 60 too. Heck I'd just like to be able to run again...
Ray I love spin calss, hmmm might have to see if I can find one with a creche out here.
thanks for the tip ray ray 18 it is
although i've only managed a tub of WW fruit and 1 slice of white bread today oh and about 3 litres of water so far i feel so ill it all i can do to stop myself being sick it is like i have MS it is bizare i have a sore back and butt i shouldn't be ill too ( i 'll stop whinning now )
i'm all or nothing too- about everything- food, alcohol....
anyway, just wanted to ask you guys - how many ww points am i allowed as i'm breastfeeding and don't want to affect supply?
Gracie...
I'm about to have lunch. give me an hour and I will put up the "quiz" for everyone to caluclate the WW points.
There is no set points... it depends on your age/height/weight/activity...
will put it up soon....
I've had about 30 mins, my gorgeous step-son is here now and I now have 2 bouncing children in the house (DH & DSS) - DH got nearly an hours sleep this morning when we got home (before he went to the airport).
I'm starting to ache, I was lugging/pushing 10 - 50kg boxes with lights & cables (some of the boxes was quarter of a tonne) - all I can say is thank the gods for wheels! Only had to carry a few boxes that weighed about 40kg (carried with help in most cases), the lights that we were taking down out of the trusses were about 15-20kg each & the trusses about 10kg. I did a LOT of walking in mud, so my butt is hurting now.
I'm thinking that if I get a 3-5 hour "roadie" job once a month, I'll be extremely fit!
The boys are stuck inside playing playstation (it is raining) so I may go and have a lay down on the bed with the sunday paper.
okay... back now.
This is the quiz from Weight Watchers to calculate your points.
Remember that if you do exercise you can have up to 3 bonus points a day.
You can also save points from one day and use them on another day... but you can't use them in another week.
You should eat ALL your points. If you don't eat all your points - there is a chance that your body holds onto it's fat stores and you don't lose weight. Working at WW, it was amazing how many people would cut back on their points, thinking that they would lose weight faster - and it would have the opposite effect. And when we worked out they weren't eating enough, and the started eating properly... their weight loss started happening again.
1. Are you:
Female (not breastfeeding) - score 7
Female (breastfeeding) - score 14
Male - score 14
2. How old are you?
18-20 - score 5
21 - 35 - score 4
36 - 50 - score 3
51 - 65 - score 2
3. What is the first digit/s of your weight?
if your weight is 2 digits (eg: 84kg) - your score 8
if your weight is 3 digits (eg: 104) - your score is 10
4. How tall are you?
under 160cm - score 1
over 160cm - score 2
5. How active are you during the day?
sitting down most of the time - score 0
occassionally sit, mainly stand - score 2
occassionally stand, mainly walk - score 4
phyically hard work most of the time - score 6
okay.. you add up your score... but
if your total is less then 18 points - adjust it to be 18 (that is minimum points)
If your total is more than 33 for women or 40 for men or breastfeeding mums - adjust your score to 33 or 40 respectively.
Retake the quiz as your weight changes, or your circumstances change...
Is everyone here doing WW? Is anyone just eating healthy like me? I'm not even allowing myself sugary foods etc but if i feel like something sweet i have been eating low fat yoghurt or watermelon or mangoes and that curves my cravings.... but i'm not even really craving any bad foods which is great! :D
I just went on a 20km bike ride with DH along the bike path i'm sooo proud of us and feel really good! My legs hurt but that's because my muscles haven't been used like that in ages hehe exercise feels sooooo good so why don't i do it more often?? just waking up and getting started is hard but once you do get on the bike, you feel UNREAL....
Schaz - wowie!! well done! you'll sleep well tonight!
Rayray- have fun at spin class!! Let me know what its like, i've always wanted to try it
Ren, you know, I think it must really vary between women. In all 3 of my pregnancies I got pg, ate very healthily, put on tiny amounts of weight, gave birth adn then weighed less than I did at the start, and then lost more via bf'ing.:
QUESTION - does anyone know that if I fall pregnant soon, and keep eating very very healthy, low fat foods, no sugar or bad fats, will i still lose some weight whilst pregnant? Or will my body maintain my weight for the baby?
(Hence I am now on an actual "diet".....I havn't been pg or pregnant in nearly a year and nor will I be again, so sadly I cannot rely on my pregnancies and my voracious feeders to help me lose the kgs!0
BUT, many other women will actually lose weight early on, then put a stack on. It really seems to vary.
Either way, eat for your babies health. It will mean you cope with the pregnancy heaps better if nothing else!
Jodie Do you know if there is a free online WW points calculator anywhere? (ie points per food item?) Thanks for all that other info BTW. I still have all my books from WW from 2000 (when I think they first introduced the points system?) and my plan is to carry on with Kate Morgan for a month or two (finding it easy.) But when I get bored/hit a plateau/need to step up the excersise/want more carbs, I will switch to WW.
Hi everyone,
I am new to this site and am wondering if I can join your body transformation challenge? I would like to start TTC in a few months time (for the first time) but want to lose some weight and get healthier first. I have e-mailed Lea my details but am worried I might be too late? I want to lose around 10kgs.
Never too late to start babe! The very best of luck......
As Flylady says::
"You're not behind, I don't want you to catch up, just jump in where we are now."
I am doing sureslim, which is pretty much low carb. Have tried the points, but does not work well with the PCOS. In fact, not much does.
Lucy...
I've got an excel spreadsheet that calculates points for food... you need to know the Kj's & sat fat figures and it will caluclate the points.
If you email me - I can send it to you. (email should be in my profile - not the hotmail account.)...
Thanks Jodie.......I was just about to email you and I found this:
WW Points Calculator
Thanks Lucy.
I am very impressed with the exercise routines posted earlier! I am usually better at controlling what goes into my mouth than getting off my butt and exercising. Hats off to you all ladies, everyone seems to be making a great start so I will just jump in where you are now.....
Thanks for that Lucy, I have a lot of weight watchers at home books which my aunt gave me but they are few years old now and doesn't have a lot of new foods points. Is a kilojoule 4 times a calorie?? Will it work with grams of fat and fibre if its in calories??
My big problem is carbs- I love them, i could cut out anything but carbs i think!! I have tried to cut down today and have been really good, even ate grapes!
Wow ladies, almost 3 pages since 2am!
Today wasn't brilliant for me - although we did start the day off with a little walk through the bush (trying out a baby backpack thingy) then visited friends with dip, cheese, chocolate royals and chips. The fruit was only for their girls!
Ren - I'm not doing WW, I'm just healthy eating (or trying to) too....
Schaz - wow, great workout!
Shazz - you get your back better!
MrsMac - I don't have a problem with carbs etc, I just have emotional eating where I'll eat my way through the house.
Kaz - welcome!
Kelly - Welcome!
Keep strong girls! Tomorrow is my weigh-in for the support thread, will be interested to see if the exercise I've been doing is helping with anything ...
That one will be okay... but it's the American version - and they use different points then Australia.
You also need the fibre content to calculate points - which I think australian labels have.. but not 100% sure.
America also uses total fat (which Australia used to)... but now points in Aus are calculated using saturated fat instead.
You should email me... and I'll send you the calculator I have - then you can do some comparisons... see how much difference the calculators are...
