Yep me too!! I will give up junk food but will still be drinking alcohol - I'm not that strong

So if I have a home brew kit at home then that's ok cos it's something I would make at home?

    ETA - I'm in after Jan 1st

Blessedatlast- we often have takeaway here so for me it's about choosing something healthy instead so I would choose Thai/Indian instead of a burger. Still not super healthy but a far better choice plus for me it will mean no chocolate (waaaah) or chips at night. I will still have alcohol though!

    BRILLIANT!!!!!

Im thinking of putting aside alittle 'pot' were I can put the $$$ in that we would have spent of takeaway to see how much we can save in that month.
My aim for doing this is to cleanse my body of the fatty/naughty food toxin's and I know full well if I see how much I have saved in that month I wont be tempted to go back to eating like that again.
I *think* making your own at home is completely different to buying it at the shop...your more concious of making it healthier at home and using more fresher prodcuts and less fats KWIM..so you could still perhaps have take awaynight just make it a healthier version of it AT HOME

FWIW we've been marking down on the calender aswell (started this month) when we've hade take away.....we've had it as a family 3 times already and it makes me sick to see it in front of me in so many ways.

Yeah it makes me sick as well how much take away we consume..
It's just been a bit hard with a toddler, but i love when i cook its always so much better than takeaway ..

Does eating out at a resturant count as takeaway? As i know that i am on the 3rd of Jan so no choice there as DF's dad is taking us

    I have started

I was at the inlaws for 3 days and watched how much 'junk' was actually consumed and felt
I ate health and realyl didnt eat anything full of sugars and fats. J commented how sick he felt after eating so much and I told him he needed more control. I really didnt feel the need this Christmas to eat flat out, dont get me wrong I did endulge but I didnt pig out.
NO ill bloating or sick feeling ffor me at all

Here's to the beginging of healthy eating

Haaaaate to tell you but cakes, bikkies and slices are all junk. Even if you make it at home it's still full of sugar and refined flour.....which makes you feel like crap. I've cut all of that out of my diet lately and I can't tell you the difference in my HEAD. I can think more clearly, have FAR more energy and I'll NEVER go back

I'll join in too if that is ok. I'll start on the 1st. I have actually just ordered that book Sweet Poison from the library - tells you all about why sugar is reallyyyyyyyy bad for you and gives you strategies to live a sugar free life! Just need to wait till the bloody library opens again on the 4th and I'm off to get it!

I'll join in after 1 Jan too but I have a question. I'm going lactose & gluten free and it's a complete PITA. I order gluten free, cheese free pizza from Crust - usually have sweet potato, caramelised onion, roasted or cherry tomato and spinach - that's not "junk food" is it? It seems pretty healthy just convenient for someone to deliver it.

On that note, are Grill'd burgers junk food? What about burgers made at home?

I suppose shortbread is out too. I'll probably empty the tin before Saturday at this rate.

tash - junk food is what ever YOU decide it junk food...eg MacDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut...food which isnt cooked with any thought for healthy eating
Subsituting the junk food for healthier options like you said sounds wonderful...I might have to get onto that aswell

I'm in too! I have eaten waaay too mauch crap lately. Dark chocolate is my guilty pleasure.....

Maz, I am wanting to jump back on the raw bandwagon too. I found an old journal from 2008 when I did a raw detox for 30 days. I wrote a lot of info about my emotions and moods. So many times I wrote: 'I feel a great sense of elation today' and 'I have lots of energy today". Wow, I haven't felt like that in ages. I think I will only aim for 50% raw at this stage, up to a max of 75%. I have no intention of going 100% raw.

So, are most people starting on 1 Jan?

I think I might start tomorrow! I caved and had some chocolate to cheer up my down mood. Or of majority is starting on the 1st I'll start then too! NYE always involves lots of yummy food.
