Ok, so I am only 3 weeks post baby/CS so I am joining in for the health benefits knowing that weight is still naturally dropping off since the birth, I will also be taking it easy, switching to healthier meal choices, walking and yoga. I gained 22kgs during my pregnancy and I have only lost 8kgs since the birth so in the long run my goal will be to lose 14kgs to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 57kgs, no time limit to acheive this goal, I will be just taking it as it comes at the moment and in 3 weeks (6 weeks post birth) I will step it up a little in training.

I look forward to getting to know how everyone is going, it is great to see the weight loss update above - well done everyone - very inspiring!

Well, amazingly I weighed in this morning at 66.5 which is 1.5kg less than I weighed in at on Monday morning. So I lost my wedding weekend weight + some thanks to a killer flu that has literally left me only just beginning to be able to taste things again today. If there's gotta be an upside to being sick as a dog I just found it

Saturday night is DD 100 day dinner so that'll be a killer.
My sister has been here a week and another week to go. Lots of eating out and red wine so my no gain is all good in my books

dd I hadn't heard of a 100 day dinner... I must be living under a rock as it sounds like such a great idea! Especially as we kept everyone at arms length when ds was born so that would of been a nice celebration. As it is ds's 1st birthday was the biggest get together/celebration of any sort that we have had for him. I agree a no gain after all that eating is great.

AFM I need to watch the alcohol! I know it's bad and totally unsupportive of weightloss but I've been having a drink of an evening. Ahhh open house this afternoon, gotta go clean....

I don't feel FAT anymore!!! ....Well for today at least I know I'm still podgy, and definitely want to keep loosing and reach my goal, but I have lost the I'm-so-fat-and-gross-and-none-off-my-clothes-look-good-on-me feeling. Its a beautiful sunny day here and I cant wait for the kids to wake up and go out feeling confident about how I look.

One thing is kind of bugging though. I feel like I have noticed a big change in my body the last couple of weeks, I just wish DF would notice I am normally pretty uncomfortable with compliments, but I would really love one right about now. Oh well.

I am finding the calorie counting quite helpful at the moment. It's good to see what I'm actually putting in my body each day, and helps me to avoid the crap when I see how much it bumps up my calories for the day.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend

^^ Funny you talk about compliments.... I had a few last night from some gf whom I see once a month or more & they noticed I lost weight but whilst at the time it feels good, it tends to have a negative impact on me whereby I then binge eat.... I don't know how to get out of that rut

Oh my goodness. I feel so warm and fuzzy and just happy with myself today! How is everyone else in here doing this lovely fresh Monday?

My party on the weekend saw me with a hangover yesterday (thanks Jager bombs!-when in Rome though....). I did go for a nice long walk with DD in the late afternoon, so I know all those naughty calories will be shed soon enough
I received many compliments too over the weekend, people are noticing! And thats with a 3 week plateau on the scales! Im not sure how that works though? My Rusty jeans went all the way up my legs and over my ghetto booty with plenty of room and ease this morning (albeit that damn muffin top is still there but shrinking dramatically!) My question is, even though the scales say I havn't lost weight, can my body shape/figure still change with all my hard work? I can really feel and see some change, so need confirmation its not all in my head

I've been going to the gym 5 times a week since February and in that time I've only lost 4 kgs but I've dropped a couple of dress sizes and packed on a whole heap of muscle so yes, it is possible to reshape your body and not lose much weight.

I keep telling myself that to be sustainable weight loss needs to take time and the scales aren't that important because otherwise I might just give up in frustration.

Cheers Onyx, I definatly can feel a difference with my clothing especially, but the trap of weighing myself on the scales really throws a spanner into my motivation when I don't see good numbers or any change. Does it turn to muscle then, or move? Silly question, i'm just curious as to where it goes.

If you take measurements you will probably see the difference there

Sunny, The fat goes so you get smaller, but you build muscle at the same time. Muscle weighs more than fat does so the weight of the fat loss is cancelled out. Forget about the scales, start taking measurements if you want some quantitative value, but otherwise just be happy that your clothes are fitting.

AH-HA! Got it! Thanks Berrme, I was really confused for a little while there, I forgot the fat loss would be cancelled out by my muscle development

My understanding of the fat/muscle thing is that our cells only live a certain amount of time so if we are building muscle and eating sensibly our fat cells are not being replaced and our muscle cells are multiplying. Fat can't actually become muscle because they have different chemical composition.
Our bodies use food first for fuel and then after that they use muscle and then fat so if you feel hungry your body is probably burning your hard earned muscle which is why it's important to eat 5 meals a day and why you shouldn't work-out hungry. Also why it's good to have a protein hit after a workout.

My left buttock is in agony. I got confused during the lunges track at pump and swapped legs when we went from static to dynamic lunges and then tried to fix it by going back to the other leg and then got confused and ended up doing almost the whole thing on the same leg
I think I need something like a breastfeeding bracelet for my lunges because I've almost done it more than once. Or maybe I should just do the same leg as the instructor each time and hope she's not as easily confused as me.

I ran 7.5km in just under 50 minutes today. I walked a bit just after 5 km. The treadmills at the gym only go for 30 minutes and then you have to stop and start again and I find it really hard to keep running when the treadmill stops. I always have to walk for a while. I need to find a way to get through that and just keep running.

We're up to our second thread now
