ZF, sore knees are hard as it rules out most cardio type exercise. If you can get to a pool then swimming is good. Or light weights with lots of reps will get your HR up too. Bicep curls, tricep dips, shoulder presses and standing rows etc. You should be able to do some ab stuff too without putting pressure on your knee. Food really does make the biggest difference to weightloss though, but doing some token exercise is important so that when your knee is feeling OK then you will still be in a routine that includes time for exercise.
Thanks hun, i love swimming but can't really go with the girls
For me the eating isn't too much of an issue, we eat LOTS of fruit and drink plentty of water, if i don't exercise it wouldn't matter if i lived on carrots i would still gain weight and i HATE it but am buying MORE fruit than normal this week and concentrating on my water intake.
Might see how the knee holds up on the exercise bike if i can get both girls napping today.

" It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up."
Ahhh, my first gain this challenge, but totally expected. Quietly happy though that it was only 200 grams. It was a super long weekend here in Melbourne with Melbourne Cup, and I also had my Mum's 60th Birthday which was a 4 course lunch (ok 5, I ate dh's dessert too!), and a housewarming/30th birthday for my girlfriend, and throw in some Thai takeaway and some Chinese too, and I think you get the drift, lol
So not going to get to my 10 kgs by Thailand which is this sunday, but I am totally stoked to have dropped almost 9 kilos since we started this challenge, and I will be right back into it after I have thoroughly enjoyed my much needed holiday.
To everyone else, keep up the great work, we can all achieve our goals if we put our minds to it. Remember, heads down, bums up, get moving, and chose healthier food options!
I don't have access to scales here so that saves me from knowing how much I have gained this week. Still feeling like a blimp and think if the Zumba with DH thing doesn't work in December, I'll need to get a personal trainer again for a while.
mm... another up for me, back to 70.8, so thats a 700gm gain. To be expected after crap eating this long weekend! At least I am still active. I have most certainly plateued in the last 2 months. It took me 9 months to lose 9kgs and I have stopped! I suppose I have been stable at this weight for so long (in between babies). I want to lose 8 more though because that gets me to my healthy weight. I need to re evaluate and really try because I think this is not going to come off easily!
sorry I haven't been posting in this thread. I've just started first round of IVF and have been feeling extremely unwell from the meds. Weighed myself and am the same as I was two weeks ago.... Anyway my EPU will probably be next week so I won't bother weighing in. Best of luck to you all
Yay! 700g loss although I've had a crap week (baby not sleeping) and had a very pessimistic outlook for this mornings weigh in. That makes me 63.3kg: 3.7kg down from my start weight and only 1.3kg from my current goal or 3.3kg from my ultimate goal. Hoping to see a 2 after that 6 next week
Good work wrena! Its awesome having a decent loss when you feel like you've had a crap week
Rhi, good luck with your IVF journey. Hope you're feeling better soon
minimatron, I feel as though I have hit a plateau as well. It's very frustrating, but I have to remind myself that loosing the weight slowly is the best way in the end.
L&B, sometimes it's better not being able to weigh yourself if you know the numbers aren't going to be great. It's not worth getting upset over every week. I hope you go ahead with zumba, it's lots of fun!
Manhattan, that's such a small gain considering your massive weekend. You've done so well for that to be your first gain of the challenge. Go you!
ZF, sorry about your knee. It such getting injured or being sick when you know you absolutely need to exercise to be able to lose any weight. I hope you are feeling better soon
Just sneaking in to say "Goal achieved!" my Rusty jeans fit once more and the scales are lowering their numbers....yippee!! "Celebrate, because I feel so great!!!" currently sitting on about 65kg. So proud right now!! Xx
Just wanted to share that today I am wearing some of my size 10 pants. The largest of my size 10 pants, but size 10 none the less. And we went to look at a house on Saturday, and the woman at the open house told me I didn't look like I had recently had a baby. I love compliments!
Hi everyone, this is the first time in ages I havent done a night, so I weighed in and have lost 500gms. 70.3 for me! Im really focused on cracking the 69kg mark. I have started again on eating properly and doing daily exercise... even if its only small amounts. I have increase my water intake, decreased my portion size, stopped eating copious amounts of carbs, particularly at night and am trying very hard to cut down on sugar... so no after the kids go to bed snacks on chocolate. I feel so much better this week! Hopefully I can kick start this weight loss because I havent done anything really with it this whole challenge! I would love to at least get a few kgs off by Christmas. If I can get to 67, I would be stoked. Then I am hoping to get to 63.... its going to take a while but I can do it.
Good luck with your weigh in today everyone! x o
Well done Minimatron! It is such a nice feeling when the scales start moving. One more good week and you can get under 70kg. Easy.
Only 600g for me this weeks. I am actually happy with that as when I decided I was going hard and going to lose lots in the next few weeks I forgot that this past week was ging to be a disaster foodwise. My cousin got married on the weekend so there was lots of family in town. I didn't go to the wedding, but Saturday night I had a big family dinner, and Monday morning was a family breakfast before everyone left again. Tuesday night was this big function for DH's work that involves an art exhibition with drinks and canapes followed by dinner and lots more drinks at a very expensive restaurant. It has been a really fun week, but not great for weight loss.
I can however just do up the dress that I was worried about not fitting into, so even if the scales didn't say anything particularly impressive, I am definitely smaller. Did my measurements and I have now lost 10cm each off my waist and hips since the start of the challenge. Pretty pleased with that!
Hope there are a few more losses to report this week. Only a couple of weeks to go...
Great work Minimatron and Berrme! I've had a 400g gain this week. I'm not overly surprised and at the moment am struggling to care. I'm in total survival mode with severe sleep deprivation. My little bubba has got two more teeth and a nasty cold this week. My DP has been sleeping on the loungeroom floor so as to be one less disturbance but bubba is still waking every 15 minutes, often crying. Luckily she's her happy bubbly self during the day. I can't believe that things are so tough and I'm still clucky. for a better week next week
Oh yeah, that makes my weight 63.7kg with 1.7kg to lose by the end of the month. Still doable
